Harry Kane admits Tottenham must turn around their stuttering form at Wembley after they were held to a 1-1 draw by managerless West Brom.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs had already dropped points at home to Burnley and Swansea this season while also only scraping to 1-0 wins over Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

West Brom became the latest side to leave the national stadium with a surprise result after Salomon Rondon gave them an early lead before Kane equalised with 16 minutes left.

Tottenham are playing at Wembley while work on their new stadium is completed and they are struggling to replicate last season’s ruthless form at White Hart Lane.

“We didn’t start well enough, we gave them a head-start at 1-0 and, knowing a team like West Brom, they are then going to drop off and make it difficult for us. That’s exactly what happened. We played much better in the second half but it wasn’t enough in the end.

It’s hard to say why there was a slow start but it’s something we’re going to have to work on and try to change because these are games we have to be winning and we’ve dropped too many points here. We have to change that around.”

Tottenham now look to be in a fight for the top four rather than the Premier League title, while West Brom remained 17th.

José no longer fancies Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Would we want him if offered? 11 goals and 5 assists in 41 appearances last term.

Look, let’s say there’s a group of Spurs’ supporting chums who meet together every-now-and-again to (ostensibly) watch a game of football and sup beer or Bacardi and Coke.

Let’s say that, maybe, once a year the (almost) full compliment of them chums aim to get together for the above stated purposes.

And, let’s say the anniversary of the first of such meetings is almost upon us.

And, say the date for that 2nd annual meeting of Spurs’ supporting chums has been set for December 9th – Spurs v Stoke (this year), and say, 14 or so of them chums are meeting on that date for the stated purpose, and for a post match Ruby.

And, let’s say that the chums generally agree that an invitation to participate in the festivities be opened up to the wider blog readership.

Then, the question would likely be: any takers?

December 9th. Spurs v Stoke. Prematch drink. Match. Post match Ruby.

All those in favour say Aye!

    Spurstacus: Aye!

    Syd
I have noticed when teams start fast against us we play well. If it is a slow game we are very lethargic simply thinking we will score at some stage.
We need to start fast every game. WE must dictate the speed of the game not the opposition.

This is true Syd. Slow means conservative,it means they are not rushing forward because they know we can hurt them on he counter. We want them to come forward as we rely more on our defence to stop them and turn the ball around quickly.
I would agree with you about the speed. At speed though our passes have to still be accurate to a degree. Actually part of the Bielsa system is to take more chances going forward and then press if you lose the ball and you try to regain it and create the space you need but if the team doesnt come at you and you have to go to them you do have to do that quickly. Our midfield is the key. Dembele/Winks/Dier,Wanyama etc are good up to a point but only Dembele gets the ball up a bit further quickly though he isnt what Id call a creative player so doesnt go and take it to the next level. This is what we are missing the most by a mile. A player who can move up quickly and make things happen. We are too slow and not creating enough from midfield and relying too much on a counter that som teams play to and some teams dont. It makes our results mixed. One quality CM will change all that

    • Accy November 27, 2017 at 12:18 pm

Ron I do agree we need a De Bruyne, a playmaker – but I also would insist on inside forwards who can control a football. Dele can’t.

    • gloster1861 November 27, 2017 at 12:21 pm

Ask that Nice Mr Levy ©, if he will buy a top quality CM Ron.
The wages needef will make that hard.

        There’s

        Modric
        De Bruyne
        Fabregas

        Any others???

  • ronwol196061 November 27, 2017 at 11:40 am

Arse are terrible but one thing you can take away from them is Alexis Sanchez (please someone take the fucker away!) . When you look at his eyes you can see what he is about. He is a great technical player but much more so is his soul. He is a winner (even if his team doesnt always win) How would he negotiate Wembley? One thing is for sure, there would be no excuses. He would give Wembley 100%.
I saw the way Chile and Sanchez took on Messi and Co in last years Copa…Nothing stopped them, not even a blade of grass.
This is the way we should be ffs. Wembley. ha.

  • ihe November 27, 2017 at 11:38 am

Start Dembele, bench Winks, keep Son, give Eriksen a rest when Lamela is available and take a look at Nkoudou. Llorente for Janssen… what was the point?

    • Horndog 🇺🇸 November 27, 2017 at 1:15 pm

Dembele is broken glass. One half of footie is all he has left, sadly.

  • Sexy Beast November 27, 2017 at 11:22 am

Would be so much fairer if Champions League teams faced teams who had also played midweek, games against the rest are an advantage for the opposition no doubt about it.

    • caveman November 27, 2017 at 11:29 am

That would create another problem that the likes of Mourinho would take advantage. He’d want to pick his opposition.

  • Sexy Beast November 27, 2017 at 11:20 am

Don’t know how you chaps feel but sell him in January only if we can get Sessegnon.
Shaw a maybe, would love shaw and Sessegnon as our two left backs, Davis could be Vertonghen’s back up.

        🧐
Yeah I watched a big pile of crap on Saturday that’s for sure! 💩
In games against bus parkers he could slot in and give Jan a breather imo but what do I know?

  • VincentianMagic November 27, 2017 at 11:18 am

Decidedly average performance on Saturday. Once again e had all the play but no cutting edge.

We need to make sure we finish top 4 and then build at the end of the season. Try to win the FA or CL also as silverware is important.

It’s already clear that the squad is too weak – it’s a CF and AM short for sure.

If only we had some decent competition for Eriksen and Ali they would perhaps turn it on more than once every 4-5 games.

For what it’s worth I think we will be £150M+ better off this time next year if you catch my drift.

  • Ufluckinplic November 27, 2017 at 11:06 am

Leicester and Watford will be testing games but as the home sides they will come at us, which should work in our favour if the players aren’t to knackered! Must admit the Watford one I think will be very tricky for us.

+1. Too passive Syd. Takes our own crowd out of the equation too

      • Syd November 27, 2017 at 11:28 am

Yep. Just start fast. Press straight away and get into their box. More width as well helps get behind the lines of the baggies etc. too much straight through the middle .
