The Sooner Poch Goes The Better

By The Boy -

Poch has broken his silence.

Remarkably and again to his credit he has managed to retain his professionalism, but the truth is there.

This blog has become the home of common sense; primarily by adopting a secular approach against the fatiguing stupidity of the Levyologists – oh, and by providing killer ITK.

As per THIS exclusive, Mauricio Pochettino IS deeply unhappy and here some weeks later we have the first clear admissions and the first indications that he and ENIC are travelling in different directions.

Yesterday’s interview in The Guardian ought to wipe the idiotic smile off any fan still peddling any one of the numerous Myths™ that this blog has systematically debunked over the last few years.

Just let that settle in.

Take your time.

There’s no rush.

Poch added: “I don’t have the answer how we are going to act when we are going to move there. It is easy to see in the last few years how we act in front of the market, how we act in front of everything and how the other teams were acting.”

That is the difference. Everything is not perfect but we are in a circumstance and a project that is completely different to another club, at the moment.”

Essentially he’s demanding to know when the spin and the brochures are going to end and he can work like an adult football manager.

Opposed to some child’s birthday party where you win ‘prizes’ for the best hat and the ‘silliest song’.

Pochettino’s achievements at Tottenham to date include winning a Colouring The Wembley Arch competition, Record Attendance At A Ground That Isn’t Yours badge and a certificate for Not Publicly Calling Out The Club’s Academy For Being No @*μℜing Use To Anyone.

It is no surprise that Mauricio is not as delighted with this nonsense factoid about the best start to a season since 1066 or whatever it is, as the mumbling Levyoligists out there are.

The sooner Poch goes, the better.

The sooner I can add him to my Villas-Boas file, from which I can respect and admire his achievements, opposed to watch him suffocate at Tottenham.

The sooner we can all move on.

Who wants to live in a delusion?

You think Pochettino is really going to carry on working like this, waiting for ENIC to maybe one day get over control over a £637m debt, a debt bigger than Manchester United’s, so they can give him a few quid to spend?

Dearie me.

If he had gone out and bought Ronaldo or another headliner this summer, he would have seen almost all of it back in a better stadium deal, but he doesn’t realise the value of football, he see’s prize money, and ticket money, TV money, but doesn’t realise that although winning the CL only generated £20m more than going out in the last 16 it brought prestige that can replicate in sponsorship.

I know, it’s also been mooted elsewhere.

There simply isn’t that kind of money there – if it was a stadium deal than Levy would have announced it, even if the place blew away in the wind.

It would be a cool brand, great synergy with the USA etc and provide a feel-good factor.

Alas, the closest we’ll get is HP…

Please, what stadium sponsor for £450M?

You cannot multiply a magic number by 15 and arbitrarily decide to call that stadium sponsorship.

This was announced in plain English as a kit deal.

In 2016 Nike signed £950million deal with Chelsea.

That was NOT a stadium sponsorship. It was for kit.

Levy was looking for £200m pa for the Naming Rights.

Why would he suddenly settle for buttons?

Nike May pay £450m over 15 years but that is not investment, that is for the right to use the same design as 10 other clubs & make sub standard football shirts with only the badge to differentiate between them, then sell at exorbitant price margins to probably earn £700m

They would be great signings both of them, but there’s more chance of us winning the lotto I fear. I don’t know that that is the case with regards the finance but it seems odd that someone even him signs a deal on kits alone for that kind of money. Would be safe to say wherever poch goes kane will follow tho and the rat will be rubbing his hands at that one cos he be looking at around 200m for the pair I would guess. All so sad. We were close there and with proper investors not spread betting and buying actual quality, proven winners for now not someone who may have great resale value I think we would have won a title

I would be willing to put a decent bet that Poch will not go to Real. I can see him at United, anything short of CL or PL silver for Jose and they will be looking for a new manager, his mouth is way too big to be not winning the top honours. That said, even a poor Jose has won more at United than Spurs have in 20yrs.

Pooch is putting more and more blue sky between himself and the club in terms of winning anything. He realises that he is under increasing pressure to win something. He is all about his own ego and his own perceived stock value. A value that I believe is over inflated on hype as he hasn’t won absolutely nothing yet is muted in the same conversations as serial winners like Guardiola. In fairness maybe he will be successful at a big club that spends big but it is an If and I am not convinced tactically he is the genius the media and he thinks he is. No doubting the jig is up with ENIC. All the years of spin to justify zero investment in the football business whilst the only remit was to develop property assets is over. it’s all out there in the glaring spotlight warts and all. We all know that ENIC departing is the only conceivable way forward and perhaps POoch leaving along with Kane, Eriksen and several others and a rapid decline in league position and attendance may panic Uncle Joe in cutting loose and selling out, hopefully to a sporting organisation that has the vision to see that the club could be a major player on the world stage with the right investment .

I think people think by the headline that you “want” Poch to go, but I think your point is (from reading) that you actually just think its like having a Ferarri and no fuel. We have a great manager, decent playing squad to build on, and no desire to build the team. If 3yrs ago we had bought a top player (we got lucky with Sanchez) each summer then this year we bought another top player, we arguably would be playing for the title and not worried about losing top talent. Currently though we have not done anything to make us better since coming 2nd to Leicester, all we have done is got lucky. I hoped the £42m on Sanchez was a start of something…alas.

It’s clear what has happened now. All Poch has done is try to save the club’s blushes.

He also said in beginning of October that we tried to sign players but ‘wasn’t possible for one reason or another.’

All you need to know is that he has come out saying he feels like shit right now, even though we’ve had the best ever start to a prem season.

I couldn’t agree more. I am not a season ticket holder but probably went to 12 games last season. Not anymore – I’m not going to provide any further funds to Levy’s folly. Pricing is completely ridiculous, atmosphere is awful (too many plastic fans) and the product on the pitch is not good enough at the moment. Tonight will be half full at best and there are plenty of tickets available for PSV and Milan. I would like to see the financial projections that the stadium funding has been based on as if this carries on there is no way we are going to be selling out the new destination. I think a return to mid-table mediocrity beckons.

What’s he achieved exactly ? 3 CL appearances where we’ve failed to get out of the group stages twice. Continually makes irrational substitutions. Allowed the purchase of Sissoko. Generally has no plan B.

Yes, we’ve made some strides forward. Mostly at the expense of rivals not playing that well. Ironically those same teams are now starting to play again and we are slipping back to where we once were.

I agree. He’ll get time as united fans are aware they are the second team in Manchester for the foreseeable future so it’s no quick fix. He will promote youth players and maybe move some of the superstars on. To the management he will no longer be a pain in the bum like mourinho constantly moaning about investment and generally bringing the club’s reputation into disrepute.
Meanwhile Levy will tell us all its jam tomorrow we need to be patient while he and his cronies plan to use the new stadium as a springboard to regenate the poorest area in London to their own benefit.

See – I cant see them touching Poch, he has no track record of success, he has no track record of working with superstars and has no record of buying top talent. I can see them going for Conte because at this time Poch has too many variables, would cost them a kings ransom and may not improve what they are doing. Only reason they even go for Poch is with an end game of getting Kane and Erickson too. Poch will end up at a United, a team where their fans will appreciate a manager doing the right things to get to the end game, they will give him more money and time, and appreciate him developing younger talent. I am not hoping he leaves at all, but I think its done already. Come the summer, Jose will be out, Poch will be in.

I think it’s inevitable that there will be a parting of the ways. Potch has had enough of working for simply ‘the worst boss you ever had’. Anyone who put greater store in the value of the clubs property assets when the playing staff must be worth probably as much surely has no sense of priorities.
Potch having over-achieved versus the competition, based on transfer budgets and renumeration, has now come to the conclusion that for the foreseeable future ,the clubs priority is the stadium rather than the success on the pitch ,which will be inhibited by the financial implications of the debt incurred.
Levy seems to think that there will be enough ‘fans’ to fill his yet to be unnamed stadium. However it seems that is not the case. Tonight’s game is not a sell out and I suspect all games at Wembley ,till the move is completed ,will be adversely affected as was the Cardiff game. There are several key games in the next month or so and if things go wrong in the derby matches (Arsenal Chelsea West Ham) I feel even the Levite’s might see things differently.

Heard a rumour that the Nike deal is for 450m?? If that is the case it looks like there’s gotta be some naming rights going on and I wouldn’t be surprised if the banks have told him he has to take that against the loans. Poch is defo eyeing up a get away. As plenty of us on here have said time and again it won’t end with him either. If harry has another good season, poch gets taken and the Nike money, all of a sudden that debt is basically covered. The football team that’s supposed to be the centre of all this is ruined but balance sheets won’t show that. Ps a nice touch by enic not putting any spurs orientated motifs or emblems in the seats. I agree with much written below. Sad to say but I suspect Poch will go at the end of the season. He has several options open to him, including Man Utd and Real Madrid who will give him the funds he needs in the transfer market. There will be no funds available at Spurs for some time to come, until the debt is paid down and he will not want to wait that long. His reputation is intact, unlike that of our august chairman, and he can leave with his head held high, despite failing to win any trophies.

I noticed Levy bigged up a raft of banking “partners” for this “project” that’s because they have him by the gonads and are financing things. He’s getting nothing for free.
I don’t think Poch will walk away,no manager does, because of the payout whether it be for success or failure. What I think is he will continue to make these subtle statements via the media until Levy feels he has been undermined too much and he will sack him.
However his stock will remain high because with the resources available to him he has us punching above our weight. That doesn’t alter the fact he has won nothing with us or his previous clubs.
Sadly the clubs assets are being used as bargaining chips and this will not end well for anyone except Levy and Lewis.

Ronan

Poch needs to get his line straight.

May: there needs to be a new project now. The club must be brave in the market and get new signings in early

August: I’m so happy we didn’t sign anybody, when I said ‘be brave’ what I meant was don’t sign anybody, so I can give academy youths a chance.

October: the frustration is massive because we have had less in every aspect. I think the club is not focused on winning titles.

Do you really think the sooner he goes the better? I think him going may well signal the end of the ENIC gravy train as they will be forced to either sign a proven winner (who will want a transfer kitty) or punt and hope and prove to any potential sponsor that they have no aspirations. I do wonder if Poch has been asked (offered a lot of money) to stick around until a stadium sponsor is nailed down, hence how Jose seems to be surviving. I am hoping “Billy the yid” is right and we have a stadium sponsor of £450m as that would offset a chunk of the “stadium” part of the build and hopefully open up the playing cash, just the £60m from the CL, if spent right, could change our season. I would say Dybala from juve (I am dreaming I feel). I said in the summer I would have liked to try to land Loftus-Cheek, looks like that would have been a decent shout.

If Real Madrid want Poch – he will go.
Even if RM have to pay Levy $10m to get him out of his contract – that is nothing to RM. The alternative is too frightening for them. I’d say there are several discussions going on in Madrid right now following that chastening experience at the hands of Barca at the weekend. If I was looking around for an ambitious manager who could be tempted to exit their contract Poch would be number one on my list. RM are not flat earthers – they will know exactly how unhappy Poch is with the resources he’s been given this season. And if I was Poch I’d have my bags packed already.

Andrew

Poch will go to manure cause they want a manager that will bring in players from their academy ( if good enough) and will buy the very best players too.
They will be patient and support him, unlike Madrid who will sack him after a couple of seasons, whatever he wins.
I think the players realize that Poch will leave, hence the performances, although we are still picking up wins.
Can’t blame him at all. What is most sickening is that we could have really won a trophy and probably the premiership if we had been prepared, really had a go but as usual enic do NOT support their managers.

Every mistake we make ends up with a goal for the opposition

I’ve got a very bad feeling about tonight’s game. Half empty stadium ,half arsed players, Kane still not on top form. Guardiloa has hundreds of millions to spend, POCH has pennies at his disposal.
I think the board have really fucked up badly.

So £30 million a year is a good deal? Other clubs get much more than today. In 2033 will 30 million look competitive?
Levy chickens coming home to roost.

Jimmy, I have to disagree entirely.
3 CL appearances as opposed to 1 CL appearances prior to his arrival. Wake up man! I watch Spurs week in week out, this man has made a difference and I dread that we have to back to watching the Jol and AVB shite all over again. This has been done on a shoestring. The frustration is what he could achieve given the funding

Failure to buy in the Jan window and the best manager never to win anything will be gone by the end of the season…..
