That Penalty In Full [video]

By The Boy -

There was quite an AVB vibe about this game.

What we got from Tottenham was measured, but decent enough to win out, whereas the Blues were a tad more gung-ho, yet achieved less.

No better example perhaps can be seen in respect of shots on goal, where Spurs were 70% more accurate.

Spurs shots on goal
Chelsea shots on goal

What let us down was our passing.

our forward, long and final third balls were less accurate than Chelsea’s.

In fact, it was only lateral passes and backward balls where Spurs were close to matching the other lot.

Bring on the next game.

my issue is he closed his legs before contact, which makes it look like he saw it coming and took the penalty.

I honestly can’t believe anyone with a pair of eyes in their head could argue with it, VAR didn’t. He was clearly level (onside) and after he had lifted the ball over the keeper he had his legs taken, by the keeper, in the box. Penalty.

No offence Nick but you do the racists, yourself and reality a bit of a disservice. Hazard, Willian and Kante would walk straight into our starting eleven (and most everyone elses’s) and theres another five or six from their squad that are quantifiably better than anything we have in ours. They’re just facked for a couple of top drawer consistent finishers and have a new manager getting to grips with the EPL and it’s cups

Was it a penalty…was it offside…? I say not offside, and yes to penalty, but I can understand why others annoyed. The keeper gave Kane an object to hit, and he did it. He took evasive action to avoid getting clattered so looked like a dive, but contact was clear and avoiding it without the dive was not going to be easy, had he managed it certainly was not going to get the ball the other side. For any fan to judge him, I would judge a striker more for not doing it and losing the opportunity. Until Ref’s aware fouls where players runs are inhibited this will continue to go on.

Chelsea are a one man team. Without hazard they would be on a par with Bournemouth.Nice to see us see a game out 1-0 but we were easy to play around. The diamond wasn’t working & they moved us from side to side to narrow the midfield. If Sarri had half a brain he’d start with giroud & pile crosses in because Danny Rose couldn’t get near odoi first half.Pleased with the result not the performance

I see Poch’s comments as a follow on from the summer business. Levy’s happy to take the flack, he doesn’t care…. He’s rolling in his fortune. When the manager signed that contract I’m sure he would of had assurances that he would depart a jilted hero. ‘Make a little speech in January Mo…keep the rabble onside, I’ll deal with the hate mail….’ Most still believe in Levy’s way anyhow insanely so its a walk in the park for him. Its done its job and buoyed the masses. Maurice knows pigs will combust in the sky flying backwards before things ‘change’. Hot air. He leaves a hero with a big payout for ENIC.
