(Sugar) Puff Daddy Speaks

Former Tottenham chairman Lord Alan Sugar believes the club are now in a position to hold on to their top players.

Spurs finished second to Leicester in the Premier League last season and are five points clear of Manchester City in second place again this year, albeit 10 points adrift of recently crowned champions Chelsea.

Sugar relinquished control of the club in 2001 after taking over in 1991 and feels the offer of Champions League and potential title glory is enough to keep the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane at the club, who are to move into a new state-of-the-art stadium for the 2018-19 season after a brief tenure at Wembley.

Sugar told BBC 5 Live’s Sportsweek program: ” We are a club which are potentially Premier League champions. I mean we ended up second this year and therefore we have Champions League football and that’s what most of the players want to be in. They want to be in Champions League football.

“In my day the big excuse for people like Sol Campbell leaving was ‘I’m leaving because I want Champions League football’. That was their statement, now there’s no excuse because we’ve got it at Tottenham Hotspur.

“The only other reason that they might want to leave our club is that they’re only being paid x amount and someone has offered them two x. The manager is the one who needs to step in and convince the player that he’s better off staying where he is now rather than going somewhere else. We’re a good club now. We have the potential to win the league.

“I don’t see any excuse for any of our players leaving. To go where? Where would they go? Manchester United? They’re a good club of course but this year and the year before they didn’t really demonstrate that they were what they were when Sir Alex was in charge.

“Chelsea, they’re very up and down. They’ve got a new manager now but they’ve had periods when they haven’t performed either. So much so that last year the anomaly was that Leicester were able to take advantage of the misfortune of all the top clubs that weren’t really playing their top performance.”

Sugar, though, is confident that if star players do move on, there is more of the same coming through the club to step into their shoes because of the emphasis on development.

He added: ” I think (Mauricio) Pochettino and the back up team at Spurs are very much orientated about bringing young players through. And, let’s be fair, no-one ever heard of Dele Alli two years ago and no-one ever heard of Kane two years ago.

“And I think they’ve got more Kanes and Allis sitting there lined up in the youth that have seen what’s happened with those chaps, and I often say that no one is bigger than the club.

“It would be a horrible thing if they went but you cannot live your life worrying about one or two people holding you to ransom, if you like, for the benefit of the club.”

Sugar expects to shed a tear as the curtain comes down on White Hart Lane as they play at their famous ground for the final time against Manchester United.

Tottenham first played at White Hart Lane in a friendly against Notts County 118 years.

Sugar said: “Of course there will be sadness there when they start to tear that down. I built the stadium. I built the north stand. I built the south stand.

“Not just me but the core of the existing 30,000 fans, for example, there will be a certain sadness about it. But I don’t think we should be too sad because we are literally moving 150 yards to the left, so we’re not exactly like Arsenal coming out of where they came and going around the corner.

“It’s going to be a fantastic leading-edge technology stadium. I’ve seen all the plans and everything and watched it grow. I think it’ll be the best stadium in England to be honest with you. Very innovative.”

But Sugar has warned that a bigger income will not automatically bring success with it.

He said: “Bigger revenues doesn’t mean you’re going to win the Premier League. I mean it’s got nothing to do with it at all.

“Bigger revenues help you, assist you, in the transfer market to buy more players but it’s all really down to the manager. It’s down to the type of players that you buy.”

Steve Perryman, who played a record 854 matches over 17 years at the club, was at Brunton Park in his role at Exeter City director of football to watch the club draw 3-3 in their League Two play-off semi-final first leg.

    East Stand
    It’s all about the team with Poch but my key players we would miss most based on this season are;
    Kane
    Toby
Eriksen (can’t believe I’ve got him 3rd, the boy’s arrived)
    Wanyama
    Loris
    Delle
    Dembele
    In that order.

I would add Son to that list. With 19 goals and 4 assists for us, many of those from substitute appearances, he has had an excellent season – reflected by him being the only player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award twice (thus far).
As a super-sub, he has been deadly and deserves recognition.

  • Camus May 16, 2017 at 8:31 am

Ron, are we pretending Coutinho is more valuable than Eriksen again? Come on, we’ve done this before and they matched up pretty equally… Let’s do it again though.
Discounting their national teams (for which Eriksen scores higher anyway), Coutinho has 13 goals and 7 assists for Liverpool this season. Eriksen has 12 goals and 15 assists for Spurs this season.
Eriksen is also 3rd in the Squawka player ratings table, with Coutinho 4th.
    http://www.squawka.com/football-player-rankings#performance-score#player-stats#english-premier-league|season-2016/2017#all-teams#all-player-positions#16#42#0#0#90#13/08/2016#16/05/2017#season#1#all-matches#total

Are you going to tell us stats don’t matter?
It’s irrelevant if you ‘see’ Coutinho driving forward with more purpose than Eriksen (he does have more pace). Overall, Eriksen has been more productive for his team with double the amount of assists for the season. What you’re seeing is your ‘perception’. Perception is a funny thing. The key stats don’t lie.

Now, here’s the thing. Nutty’s fantasy league is about to be culled. I checked the top 50 and 30 (THIRTY!) teams have at least one gooner in them. The leader board is about to change …

    I’ll deal with 51-100 later 🙂

Now this I like to hear, but a glance earlier in the season showed that plenty of the remaining 20 out of those 50 would have also had a Gooner/Chav player in them at another time during the season. Just sayin’.

I’ve not read much on how you feel about Joe Lewis. The more I read about him, the more I dislike about him.

This is a rough translation, but it is well and truly a f*cked-up tale of a very crooked man who has much of the Argentinian government bought and paid for.

      ——–

Joe Lewis, the true patron of evil in Patagonia

He handles the security forces, the intendant and the Deliberative Council as if they were employees.

It squeezes witnesses and threatens the population. It is left with fiscal lands. Retains ownership titles of people. It appropriates public resources. Cut routes at gunpoint.
      Joseph Lewis

Joseph Lewis, the billionaire who even has his own lake.

So far the story coincides with the official story about Milagro Sala, but the protagonist of this story is not a Jujuy coya but an English tycoon, the seventh fortune of the United Kingdom to be precise. He is not imprisoned, he enjoys a good press and no one comes to plebiscite him. Once, yes, plebiscitaron his project and lost by 79% of the votes.

He’s called Joseph Lewis, Joe for friends. The economic group it leads is comprised of an intricate corporate network that includes its own Argentine companies and front-runners (Hidden Lake, Pampa Energía, etc.), some 200 foreign companies, several located in tax havens. He has good friends in politics.

According to a report of the newspaper Tiempo Argentino, the governor of Rio Negro, Alberto Weretilnek, defends it with a sword. The mayor of the Bolson, Bruno Pogliano, acts as an accountant and lends him his study to house his societies. His spokeswoman, Dalina Pinacho, is now head of the National Radio.

Lewis also lends the ranch and helicopter to President Mauricio Macri. It receives politicians, businessmen and journalists with whom it generously shares the exclusive view of the lake that robbed us of all Argentines. Some who worked very close to him say that in Hidden Lake does not save on prostitution and drugs to entertain the guests.

      SELF MADE MAN

Joseph had a dream and started from below. He wanted his own state in Patagonia. He worked out a plan, sought partners, found allies, always knew how to smear greedy pounds. It began by kidnapping the Escondido Lake and now it struck with the official approval of the most ambitious colonial project of Patagonia.

Joe was never alarmed by obstacles. He destroyed all of them: laws, judicial decisions, two natural reserves, forests, lakes, rivers, Mapuche, Creoles, institutions, plebiscites.

It had its first major setback in 2009 when the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) ordered “to ensure access to Lake Escondido with adequate signposting and ensuring transitability” along the road known as the Tacuifí.

Of course, the governorship was to execute the sentence but Weretilnek never complied and the lake remains the private water park of the gentleman and his friends.

The STJ was a firm sentence and of course, in the face of non-compliance, there were protests. In that context, his figurehead Van Ditmer said: “We will defend private property with Winchester in hand, with blood if need be.”

With the assumption of Macri in the Presidency, the parallel state made a leap of quality. They broke the stride. “Let’s go for it” they would have thought, and by April they were already taking down the third largest reserve of cypresses in the world. They had to put a high voltage cable but they forgot to ask for authorization, to carry out the environmental impact study, to hire a qualified company, etc.
They looked for a brave guy from the village, gave him a backhoe, lots of money and guarantees of impunity. Alejandro Namor, authorized by the AFIP as a butcher, gave the Forest Reserve without disgust, as if he were a media res. The cut he did is already more than nine kilometers long. No official body thought of stopping it.

“From the organizations we made the corresponding complaint more than six months ago, not against the poor Namor, obviously, but against the political and economic leaders.” Just this week the prosecutor Arrien defined to give course, to promote the criminal action and the precautionary measure, Say from civil organizations.

“We will see if the holder of Criminal Examination Court No. 6, Marcos Burgos, deigns to define something before the fair,” they add.

But according to the bad language, the mother of the magistrate, the former councilwoman Beatriz Tejeiro, is a conspicuous operator of Lewis in the political world of El Bolsón.

Lewis knew a policy of “social responsibility” that some time won him the sympathy of part of the population of the Bolsón. He knows the Argentine passions. He put two ladies soccer fields and an event hall. If you behave well, I would let you wet your feet in your Lake previous reservation. “He steals but he does,” his defenders were wielding.

The story also indicated that good Joe wanted to supply the Bolson with clean energy. He was going to sell something he extracted from our water resources, at four times the market price, but in the face of the energy crisis he was to see it as an act of British philanthropy. Plus there were few megawats.

The Bolson environmentalists outlined a conspiracy theory that ended up being the sad reality. The tract of the pipeline, oh chance, passes through another natural reserve called Cumbreras de Mallín Ahogado, specifically in the area known as Pampa de Ludden.

There was an old batch project that seemed irremobile. Nevertheless, Lewis is a man of testón and nothing was going to stop his colonial project. As he finally proved, his intention was not to supply electricity to Baghdad but to channel energy into His Majesty’s new state.
The Pampa de Ludden is a natural monument that quadruples the area of Buenos Aires. It used to be fiscal, nontransferable, ultra protected by laws, exclusive for agroecological production, but through a land triangulation maneuver the Lewis clan appropriated it for the modest sum of 69 pesos a hectare (half a pizza per hectare).

How they did? Older than the cockade. They wrote in the name of a settler, and six months later Van Dittmer’s brother-in-law bought it. It is an obviously illegal maneuver but there was radio silence in the control agencies.

In the Ludden Pampas, the Lewisians plan to build an artificial paradise with sky center, golf course, shopping malls, cinemas, hotels, summer houses, airport and some resident riches to complete the colonization process in a zone considered Security For its geostrategic importance.

Of course, this city-state needs energy. From now on, it also needs water: the water that keeps the Andean Biosphere Reserve Norpatagónica alive and the peasant population of Mallín Ahogado. Nothing that money can not buy.

And the money acted. In recent weeks, the accountant Pogliano signed a strange agreement with the company for the development of the project despite the fact that during the election campaign he tired of repeating that they would not allow it. Then, his ediles endorsed the agreement and approved the integral project of Laderas del Perito Moreno SA Whose complaint, stick and patota.

In the middle of the affair, from the army of Lewisland they threw Molotov bombs against the demonstrators, they gave a loud beating to a CTEP militant in front of the undaunted gaze of the Secretary of State, Letizia Tornero, and they frightened to other environmental activists.

However, the popular response to all this filth was blunt and the streets of the Bolsón saw the most massive protest of its history. More than five thousand souls marched to repudiate this true parallel state and installed a “Camp in Defense of Water and Earth”.

      • MiT May 16, 2017 at 4:00 am

Heh… Joe Lewis’ isea of “regeneration” of much of Patagonia…

        —————

“Strong message to the governors,” expressed many voices from those who passed the microphones of the Open Radio that settled at the corner of Pacific and Popular Acampe in the Patagonian village of El Bolsón.

In the context of a multi-purpose negotiation in which a billionaire Englishman and government officials thought to pass over the decision and future of a whole region, a new march made it clear that more than one official is already – as it is often said in the jargon Political-a “political corpse”.

The English businessman, his front men, his abducted government officials, and a small group of Third World entrepreneurs with aspirations for much more, have tried to achieve the social license they need to be able to install in the region that goes from the south of San Carlos de Bariloche to El Bolson in the province of Río Negro, a multipurpose enterprise of which many of its adherents are even totally unknown.

What has been visible has been the installation of a private international airport, then a high-level urbanization, but in reality, the bottom line is a much more profitable business. It is impossible to demarcate the outrage of the government authorities to achieve a binational step by El Foyel, a rural setting in the middle of the English background; The installation of a hydroelectric plant, and a high voltage line that will connect to the National Interconnected, rather than to supply and sell energy, to be able to supply it with multiple purposes. Part of the policies of the IRSA, which is a plan by which Latin American governments must contract debt to build an infrastructure necessary for the looting of common goods and which is presented to the population as progress … routes, electricity supply, gas,

The construction of a waterway by El Foyel is the continuation of a megaproject that was stopped in the 90 by Lago Puelo, a town only 50 km. further south. The venture included a system of exclusions in the style of the Panama Canal, by which they could navigate deep keel vessels. A land route, energy supply, gas pipeline, among others.

And what would be the interest in investing so much money from the state debt in this? For in the 90’s, the militants who managed to stop that “Paso Puelo”, managed to discover that the intention was not to withdraw, but also to enter and deposit in our territory. Who and what? Well, from the nuclear energy policies in the “first world”, one of the parts that can not solve, is what to do with nuclear waste.

After using the “nuclear batteries” need to be deposited in a place with plenty of water. It is that these innocuous-looking rods are no longer useful in the mills when they still raise a lot of temperature for hundreds of years.

Not enough to generate the steam needed to move the engines of the power plants, but a lot of heat anyway. Heat that requires to be transported with continuous cooling of water, ie by water transport. The deposit would be Gastre, a small town in the Patagonian steppe that is only 100km in a straight line from these steps.

On the other hand, the transfer of the huge amount of tons of soybeans destined for China, would save many days by going straight through the Pacific Ocean.

But it is also estimated that the provision of energy in that area of the Cordillera can have mining purposes.

What does the illegal lot have to do with all this? On the one hand distractive, but on the other hand, the excuse to be able to carry the electric line; On the other hand, to leave the rural area of small agricultural producers without water, it clears the zone of possible later popular uprisings.

Today, specifically, the fear is the construction of this urbanization in the water springs of this water basin that passes through this rural area, then El Bolsón, Lake Puelo and ends flowing into the Pacific.

The multitudinous march of yesterday was a national shout against the policies that privilege the rich and hurt the poor. It was a resounding plebiscite to municipal and provincial officials who have already taken a stance in favor of English, and that they can no longer be dismissed.

With much less, more than one ruler has stepped aside, facing a people that does not fear threats of repression, nor retaliatory taxes or patoteriles. A shout full of joy to see so many and so determined in the street.

Many of the participants estimated the crowd in more than 12 thousand people. Others spoke of 20 thousand. An official of the police consulted by this means estimated in 15 thousand. Aerial images have not yet been analyzed, but the fact is that the march was longer than what could be seen from the ground with the naked eye.

The repercussion was of a national character, and the House of Río Negro had to remain behind a police fencing, since demonstrators in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires went there to support the protest that marked a bad start of the year for the National, provincial and municipal governments.

The Englishman will have to look for new sepoys, with a washed face, a young and shiny face, so that he can continue to try his trades in the region. The struggle continues, the camp and the actions planned by the organized people, too.

Greetings, Halibut – Great to see you posting and feeling well ! Glad Spurs and you have shared a similar path to some better times.

Is your avatar a little teckel ?

I think you are pretty close to the money on Walker. City and United should drive the number up to those realms, where he’d only draw around 35-40m on the Continent. I think Levy allows the closer opposition to compete over him for once this time. All of them seem to be on the same page with it, and Walker has continued to play when called upon. There are no ill feelings there – it’s an easy situation to understand, and Walker was up front with his questions, as was Pochettino with his answers.

It will be very strange to see him in a rival kit.

With Horny on this one, great potential, very mature footballer for his age. Becoming more influential as he grows too. Needs goals and assists to bring him into the limelight more. I’m very excited by him. Quality new age footballer.

    • McG ⚽⚽ May 15, 2017 at 11:52 pm

He can pass, but as yet doesn’t contribute much in terms of goals or assists. Cup games, less important prem games and poss some CL action if we alreay qualified. His time will come, just ain’t quite yet.

    McG
We won’t win the title with Winks. We need a proven AM, another striker and a new RB by the look of things..

How many years in row have we said we need another striker?

    • McG ⚽⚽ May 15, 2017 at 11:43 pm

I wanna keep Janssen for one more season. If Defoe is available on a free, I’d take him. Then put the 45 odd mill from Walker into one top AM. Use other player sales to then cover the right back replacement, job done.

      • AccringtonSpurs May 15, 2017 at 11:46 pm

Janssen will go – He isn’t playing. Defoe too old and we don’t have Redknapp as a manager anymore.

Think we’ll sign unto 6 players.

        • AccringtonSpurs May 15, 2017 at 11:46 pm

we’ll go after Lanzini. I can feel it in me waters.

          • McG ⚽⚽ May 15, 2017 at 11:55 pm

We only need two additions, 3 if Walker walks.

            • AccringtonSpurs May 16, 2017 at 12:00 am

What about Champions League? How do we compete without any special players or a quality bench?

              • East Stand May 16, 2017 at 12:02 am

                We don’t…

From Dembele position and Eriksens we need to create.Medium and short quality passes to open positions

              • McG ⚽⚽ May 16, 2017 at 12:10 am

One quality AM, Isco type. Defoe is a 15 goal a season striker who’d be happy to sit on the bench, for free. Walker replacement and we sorted. Too many & you wont keep em all happy. Decent striker for free & focus on one special signing. I’d also suggest Barkley & Tielemans if we not going for an Isco type signing.

We have players like Lamela to come back, Rose, Winks, Edwards, we don’t need many additions, we were unlucky this season with injuries & yet came so close.

                • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 16, 2017 at 12:17 am

We could pay Defoe commission for each goal

He’s our age so I will snap up his commission.

If we played two up front, then no to Defoe, but as a way of improving the bench and allowing us to spend more on a quality midfielder, think that’s the way I’d go as it happens, we gotta be clever, Billy bean.

        • Rich g May 16, 2017 at 9:30 am

Janssen won’t be going anywhere unless someone pays well over what we paid for him,and that won’t happen

Eriksen needs to wake up one morning and his light bulb goes on that he can be a top top player if he attacks the game

He needs a bit more spunk. Nice guys finish second. Sadly.

    • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 11:32 pm

Ron your expectations are too high. Eriksen is already a top player but lacks pace of a Coutinhio we know that but we should be thankful for small mercies that despite his weaknesses he plays for us as opposed to our rivals.

Coutinho has the swagger and belief that comes with being a skilful Brazilian. A skilful Dane will be less outgoing in that way, more pragmatic and less willing to do something off the cuff, shy even.

That’s Eriksen’s problem, he has to learn to win games. Willian, Pedro, Coutinho all have that belief that they can take a chance or two. It’s partly cultural in my opinion…

Coutinho has 16 goals and 7 Assists, Eriksen has 18 goals and 15 Assists, i know who i’d rather have in the team and that’s why CE is SPOTY.

          • East Stand May 15, 2017 at 11:57 pm

Dembele has an arthritic hip and he’s done alright, sometimes he’s been the main man.

      • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 11:39 pm

Ron what you desire is that Eriksen is comparable to Messi but he aint. What you get with Eriksen is what you see.

          Messi??????????????????

        • AccringtonSpurs May 15, 2017 at 11:50 pm

Maybe comparable to De Bruyne. De Bruyne has 17 assists in the prem and 5 goals.

          Eriksen 13 assists, 8 goalazos.

Probably you’d take De Bruyne in your team over Eriksen as he does seem to be a better overall player.

I see Fab Wages pulled another rabbit out of the hat for Chelsea. Much as I hate to admit it, that squad earned the title over the final stretch.

Blech, even saying that hurt a little.

    • MiT May 15, 2017 at 11:19 pm

Could Spurs pay a player like that 133k a week, and keep everyone else satisfied ? I strongly suspect not. I do expect to hear an argument or two to the contrary, however.

    • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 10:48 pm

      Fabregas cost about 40 mil

I would get rid of Dembele even though I really respect him to get someone more creative in the AM role

          • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 10:56 pm

Dembele doesn’t play the AM role.

            • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 11:16 pm

              What does he play?
If Dembele is not running the attack and Eriksen isnt…who is?
(Light bulb goes on) Arrrrggghhhh right…er nobody…..
If everything is about pressing…then we have a problem with defences that actually want us to have the ball so we can pass it across the field 19 times?

              • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 11:22 pm

Dembele plas as a deep lying midfielder who starts off the attack by getting the ball to the forward players. Eriksen is the AM who plays further up the pitch, with the aim of either creating chances for others, or scoring goals himself.
Any further information will be charged at a rate of $19.99 per post.

                • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 11:28 pm

You are right but thats the problem
Dier to me is a DM
Wanyama is also a DM but has shown is a good at playing where Dembele plays too
Dembele is the furthest one forward of the three generally but he isnt creative enough
We have to replace him for a creative player and Wanyama can fill in for Dier or the new player also acvording to tactics per game

So Dembele relative to Dier and Wanyama is a AM

Eriksen does not run the attack.

We need a player that can.

                  • Horndog May 15, 2017 at 11:36 pm

Has to ne Dembele for the right player

          • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 10:59 pm

I suspect there are not a glut of WORLD CLASS quality creative midfielders on the market and if there are they probably wont join Spurs. First it was Moutinhio link, now Isco link. Willian would probably have been a success but Chelski highjacked that deal. back to Coric and Barkely?

            • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 11:02 pm

Why do you persist with the notion Coric will be this supposed creative genius? He is a talented prospect at best, who has no experience of playing at a higher level such as the PL.

              • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 11:04 pm

I acknowledge he is no genius and has attitude issues but given his attacking attributes IMO worth a punt at £10M!

                • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 11:13 pm

I wouldn’t disagree with taking a punt, although I doubt he would make the first team for a considerable while. If H’s rumour of Spurs loaning players to Ajax, then that would be an ideal environment for a player such as Coric to learn, and get accustomed to a higher level of football.

                  • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 11:17 pm

I’d suggest that if “the determination gene to make things happen whenever” exist at all, less then 10 players in the history of the game have had it. In fact not even Messi can “make things happen whenever”.

Whenever is not fucking forever but its more that he currently does.
There are players that push and do more…like I think Sanchez does and Modric does…
What are they worth. More than Eriksen.Sorry it wasnt in the genes..but maybe jeans.

  • SSG May 15, 2017 at 9:48 pm

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of team Poch sends out Thursday and Sunday. Given we are runners up no matter what, there is probably the instinct to rest a few, protect a few and give some youth and fringe players a game. On the other hand, finishing the season positively is valuable, so an overly weakened team won’t do. Also, Kane is chasing the Golden Boot and Dele is close to 20 goals, so they’ll want to play. Tough business this management stuff.

    • AccringtonSpurs May 15, 2017 at 10:05 pm

Without Toby there is no way we would have such a good defensive record. In fact, the sum of Jan + Toby is greater than them as individuals. They ihave the understanding that makes our team anchored. Like McFarland and Todd, Hansen and Lawrenson.

        Wanyama

    4. Eriksen
    5. Alli

    • MiT May 15, 2017 at 7:09 pm

      • The Great White Hope May 15, 2017 at 7:12 pm

Verts has been very consistent but i feel Toby is the better defender/tackler and more of a threat at set pieces, if only someone could cross. Much better than last season though.

        • Frontwheel 2 May 15, 2017 at 7:22 pm

Verts has surprised me this season, his attitude stunk for long periods in the previous 2 seasons, and to be honest I was hoping he’d be on his bike, great to be wrong.
Alderweireld my Spurs player of the season, closely followed by Danny Rose.

  • gloster1861 May 15, 2017 at 5:14 pm

I note Wanyama’s header came from a lovely whipped in cross – from Davies, not Eriksen. Why does Eriksen struggle from corners? It must be mental because he is technically good as his free kick showed.

    • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 5:26 pm

Lost count of how many fruitless corners Eriksen has taken this season.
Obviously Poch is content with the situation as I would have relieved him of corner duties well before now and given this duty to our full backs – Davies, Trippier Rose and possibly Dembele?

I’d suggest that if “the determination gene to make things happen whenever” exist at all, less then 10 players in the history of the game have had it. In fact not even Messi can “make things happen whenever”.

For young players, sure you can make the case that Spurs is the best place for them to develop, get an honest chance at making the first team, etc. But for mid-20s and up, these lads are viewing the rapidly closing window to make their money, knowing that by 30yo it’s pretty much over and injury could snatch that chance away before then. Sugar is delusional if he thinks CL footie, particularly for those that have already played in it, is sufficient motivation to not move for an extra 10-20M/yr. Pay them the market rate, or watch them leave, simples. I don’t like it any more than you lads, but I wouldn’t turn down a job offer for twice the money even though I really like my job, colleagues, and location.

And yes, I would like to win it although as I mentioned in the original message, I realize it is not comparable to even winning the league cup. The history books will already say we finished runner up. Personally I’m not concerned about record EPL points hauls. If the club were being uber sensible they ought to sit Kane and Alli for the remaining two games. Let Janssen and N’Koudou/Onomah play to get experience, whilst the two most important players get rested. If we can’t improve our position (other than increasing our points haul) then why flog our players? Give them an extended rest.

Saying that I do get the Golden Boot chase most likely would see Kane playing.

However, I was just thinking of when the Golden State Warriors played last December and Klay Thompson scored 60 points. He did it in under three quarters but instead of being let loose to achieve an even higher personal best he was sat down by the coach and didn’t even play in the fourth quarter.

All about the bigger picture, the team, not about individual achievements. Wouldn’t it be worth sitting them for the final two games if it increased our chances of winning a pot next season? As brags go, “we had Top Goalscorer” pales in comparison to, “we won the League”.

    You dirty bastard.

Together with Terry Venables, Alan Sugar took control of Tottenham Hotpur a month after they lifted the FA Cup for a then record 8th time in June 1991. Spurs were in deep financial trouble and were threatened (however serious this threat actually was is debateable) with closure by the Midland Bank. Robert Maxwell was also rumoured to be interested, so the Venables-Sugar partnership was by a long
way the best option for the club – Venables with the football-side & Sugar with the money-side. Sugar became the largest shareholder of the PLC, with Venables risking everything he had (and probably some he had n’t) to become the second largest shareholder.

Yes there were few high points under Sugar reign.

If we think anout reality he is doing well and on track. Pots will be the reward,we are not quite there yet but the pundits are all coming around…they know we are the movers in this league and with stability

“And, let’s be fair, no-one ever heard of Dele Alli two years ago and no-one ever heard of Kane two years ago.”

For such a successful businessman he’s a one thick fucker.

      Thick but successful.

I didn’t realise Pool have to win their last game to be certain of top 4. So glad we’re out of the 3rd/4th/5th scramble.

  • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 1:05 pm

    We finished second last year?
    Phakit, I musta missed sumfink!

  • Caveman May 15, 2017 at 1:04 pm

Sugar is a whore who likes to mouth off. A barrow boy who made his money tax free for years upon years.

    • Caspurs♿️ May 15, 2017 at 1:07 pm

He’s still better than what that lot have down the road, Piers (cnutjob) Morgan.

    • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 1:14 pm

Dont you fakin’ knock barrow boys mate..I was one once…..

      • Caveman May 15, 2017 at 1:52 pm

I’m not against barrow boys. But when they get rich, they shouldn’t shit on other barrow boys (T Venables) as though they never pulled a stroke themselves.

Would you Please enlighten me why he dispensed with El Tel?

          • David Dillenberg May 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm

The supposed El Tel fans favourite.

            • Caveman May 15, 2017 at 2:31 pm

              You wouldn’t believe me.

    • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 1:21 pm

Infact me Mum had a stall on Whitechapel Waste on Saturdays and Petticoat lane on Sundays….
      Never made stereos though..

  • Camus May 15, 2017 at 1:01 pm

I don’t pay much attention to anything Sugar says, but he is right on the money with those last 2 paragraphs. It’s about who the manager wants and who the chairman buys.

    • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 1:12 pm

I also agree with that Camus because thats about business and how it relates. He didnt have the wearwithall to do what Joe and Levy have done though.
Levy is not a real entrepreneur. That would take a smell to create and sometimes gamble. What he is l,is a solid conservative businessman that can see the bigger picture but within his fiscal bounderies for that he has done well.
Its difficult to compete now with all the oil money men in the game vut he knows that you are either in the top group or not and he has done good with that.
Sound development with stability and responsibilityThats his thing.
      I agree.

      • Camus May 15, 2017 at 1:20 pm

Would Sadio Mane have won us the league had we been able to sort his wages out? It’s a huge question… Fine margins at the top. But I know it would have broken the wage structure and rocked the boat. Big decisions.

        • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 1:23 pm

We are still building the stadium…they will have to decide but maybe they will look for partners and kick it up a notch

          • Camus May 15, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Put it this way. You sign Mane instead of Janssen and Sissoko. That way you can afford Mane’s wages. Sissoko hasn’t contributed anything, let’s face it – so, a complete waste of £95k-a-week anyway. The ‘2 is better than 1’ approach didn’t work (again). Easy in retrospect but big decisions…

            • ronwol196061🇨🇦 May 15, 2017 at 1:31 pm

You are right Camus…but maybe Dele and Dier wouldnt have worked out and we would have bought a different dud too

            • Freünd or Foe May 15, 2017 at 1:34 pm

I’d suggest it wasn’t just about wages. No doubt a factor, but Mane would have known he’d be numero uno at Pooh. Could Poch give him similar assurances? You sign to train, Mr Mane.

              • Camus May 15, 2017 at 1:52 pm

Yeah, good shout. That won’t always go down well with everyone.

                • Freünd or Foe May 15, 2017 at 2:06 pm

As long as Kane is here, it’ll be tough attracting ‘made’ strikers methinks. But we must try.

  • Freund or Foe May 15, 2017 at 12:58 pm

“I built the North stand, I built the South stand”.
Shame you built nothing on the pitch you arrogant cant.

    • Camus May 15, 2017 at 12:59 pm

      “I built Jurgen Klinsmann.”

    • Caveman May 15, 2017 at 1:02 pm

      +1000%

  • Camus May 15, 2017 at 12:58 pm
