Subliminally Sublime

By The Boy -

Another walloping at White Hart Lane from a Spurs side that were almost as synchronised as the soppy goal celebrations.

Bizarrely, Watford weren’t as advertised, and what was supposed to be an injury ravaged hatch-potch turned out to be a team bolstered by new blood. It may sound a strange comment to make, buy Watford didn’t deserve to lose to anyone 4-0 today.

If we’ve learned anything from these last two games, it’s that esprit de corps Poch has managed to manifest is quite something to behold.

The 4-2-3-1 wasn’t great, or maybe it was the absence of the regularly imperious Wanyama. It felt like the bulk of the first half consisted of Mousa trying to disguise the fact that there was a rather large Welcome mat in the middle of the park. However the quality of the teamwork out the limitation of the shape.

A cynic might suggest that we are winning despite ourselves. Yet again, this is a hallmark of champions. Being so good, that you don’t actually have to be faultless.

Our Shooting Boots were another example of this. The lads weren’t wearing the best pairs in the shop, but the quality of the goals was immense and there were four of them!

Returning to the team-work for a moment, picking a MOTM was on a par with picking your favourite twin.

Trippier, Toby, Verts and Davies were all equally immense but you might be inclined to tip your hat to Trippier on the basis that he created 4 chances, made one assist and was an all round busy little bar-steward.

Dele Alli with his 16 goals has now equalled the sainted Steven Gerrard’s best ever Premier League goal tally.

Gerrard played 16 seasons to achieve that by the way – whereas the boy Alli is currently 20 years old.

Player ratings and and more measured gushing to follow.
