This isn’t a complicate business by the way.
Greavsie needs a dig out and it is only right that he gets one.
The modern game is swimming in money, nobody will have to go without to rustle up what is in truth, a fairly modest amount of cash.
The THST are saying that the Tribute Trust and THFC have rustled up the funding that’s required to cover Jim’s private rehab.
What I’m curious to know is, what is Terry Baker planning to do with the other £30,000+ that he has raised on his Just Giving page?
And why was the Just Giving page removed at one stage?
On the 12th of July Terry Baker posted this comment on his Jimmy Greaves Facebook page.
“Just so you all know, we are taking down the just giving page so nobody will have their very kind donations taken from their accounts. We have been offered help from many sources (not the football clubs though) so we don’t want to take people’s money but grateful isn’t a big enough word to describe how we feel towards everyone that generously offered help.”
Within 24 hours, the following was posted.
Having spoken to the tottenham trust, it is clear that they are going to help Jimmy and that Spurs help them financially. I would like to clear up previous misconceptions in that regard. The Trust have been very helpful , we received a form from them six days ago whilst we were on holiday and it’s being filled out today . They have been very good.”
Then, on the 10th of August, the page was reinstated.
Just giving page to help Jimmy back up after some problems. If you feel you are able to help please donate at this link. He has given so much pleasure to so many people and now he is having a big struggle to get anywhere near a normal life , only if you feel able to please help here . Thank you.”
2 hours ago (today) the following was published by Mr Baker, who is now holidaying within hours of the £30,000 having been raised.
I’m away on holiday but I will post a response mostly of thanks for the generosity of the public in response to my appeal for Jimmy and also to some of the mean spirited sniping from a small minority.
Most of what I’ve seen in the papers has had its share of inaccuracy but without the People, Mirror and Mail articles toward the end we would not of reached the required amount.
Here is a far more true reflection of the situation as it stands and one thing to correct is the assumption that I have been disingenuous to the Tottenham Tribute Trust . They have been fantastic in their support and have set aside a considerable sum to support Jimmy.
An official statement from either the Tribute Trust and or THFC is urgently required.
- Who has actually helped Jim, and what are the specifics of that help?
- What steps are being put in place to insure that former club greats don’t have to endure the discomfort of uncertainty when it comes to health expenses in the future?
- Why are the THST incapable of being transparent about anything?
If you are wondering who Terry Baker is, he’s the agent who not only put Paul Gascoigne on stage here, but if you can bear to watch the clip to the 2:50 mark, holds onto Gazza’s arm to help stop him shaking as he proceeds to ‘MC’ a live event, that makes for viewing as comfortable as watching a child being tortured.
