His 37th, 38th and 39th goals of the year helped Spurs to a 5-2 win over Saints at Wembley.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a statistical look at Harry Kane’s historic 2017.

💥 Kane has scored 39 goals in 36 league appearances. Shearer played 42 matches in 1995 when he set the previous record.

💥 The Spurs man scored 21 goals in the 2017 portion of last season and has 18 this term. H e only had eight by the turn of the year last season.

💥Kane’s hat-trick against Southampton was his sixth of the year in the league. He struck three times in games against West Brom, Stoke and Hull last season and four against Leicester in May, before adding his weekend treble at Burnley.

💥 37 of Kane’s 39 goals have come in Tottenham wins, the only exceptions coming in last month’s 1-1 draw with West Brom and 2-1 loss to Leicester.

💥 He has scored 20 times in home games and 19 away.

💥 May and December were his highest-scoring months with eight goals in each. In May he scored one in victory over Manchester United before firing four against Leicester and three against Hull. This month he struck twice against Stoke before his back-to-back hat-tricks.

Mourinho: “Spending £300M is not enough. Big historical clubs are being punished in the market.”
Funny, i don’t remember him making that point when he was spending Abramovich’s cash willy nilly……….

    • Matt December 27, 2017 at 11:45 am

I think translated that means “..oh shit I can’t outspend everyone, what do I do? I know, knock it up to the big lad fellani…”

  • caveman December 27, 2017 at 8:05 am

We so badly need Toby back. That defence, except for Vertongen stank to high heaven yesterday.

    • Matt December 27, 2017 at 11:43 am

Full backs a bit off at the moment but I thought Sanchez was solid and today though only saw extended highlights. Did they flatter him?

    • Teddyboy December 28, 2017 at 6:52 pm

      +1

  • caveman December 27, 2017 at 8:01 am

Dele Alli was my MOTM yesterday. His goal was superb as we’re both of his assists. He’s back you know.

    • legendary greavesy December 27, 2017 at 9:29 am

Totally agree with that assessment cavey, still if he was a little more focused he could have contributed to at least 3 more. His goal his is pure natural talent ,its instinctive

      • Gus December 27, 2017 at 9:53 am

His through ball to Kane for one goal was a joy to watch. His goal oozed confidence the way he curled that low ball through traffic inside the far post

Danny rose pointing to the badge?

I asked a table of 8/10 fellow season ticket holders before the Dortmund home game how many goals Kane would score this season, the general concencus was 30, i asked he they were all watching, baring injuries i said at the very minimum he would get 40………
Love that Rose is on his tip toes and maybe pointing to his badge now Manure have cooled on a transfer @ £50M……

    • Matt December 27, 2017 at 7:51 am

Agree on both. Only time Harry won’t score is if we don’t create chances, simple as that.

Re Rose, spot on ; he’s clearly trying a bit. That said, he’s looking poor IMO. Prefer Davies.

    • Freund or Foe December 27, 2017 at 9:06 am

      Adjusting his shoulder pad.

    • Teddyboy December 28, 2017 at 6:56 pm

wonderful to see Rose like that surely, but intriguing indeed to have your moussas bending over like this, i think they know whats coming

  • Matt December 27, 2017 at 5:56 am

We’re going to need big Vic back for WHU, playing so soon after Swansea. I’d say rest Harry and put Llorente in too, we need H in top condition for WHU, they only turn up for us.

  • Syd December 27, 2017 at 1:26 am

I can hear the war cry from other managers “STOP KANE”

  • Syd December 27, 2017 at 1:24 am

Hi folks. Watched the game. The most open game of the year imo. Simply for what he has achieved Kane was MOTM 10/10 but Vertongen was just as good at the other end, 10/10. He was absolutely brilliant in this game.

If there were sales in January the only players I wouldn’t care if they were sold are:
Rose, Onomah, Sissoko (although he has improved greatly), Llorente, Dier, Winks, Janssen, N’koudoo and CCV.

Buy Decoure (Watford), Barkley (Everton), Mahrez (Leicester), Van Dijk (Soton).

I think all those are possible if we are willing to spend the money.

Apart from last season’s exceptional showing, I’ll wager it’s been a long time since we manged to put together such an impressive sequence of home results.

    The team spirit is back.

  • Accy December 27, 2017 at 12:16 am

    Panama Paul
After a year out of the team, several operations, months of rehab and training, it looks like Eric Lamela still doesn’t have a working right leg. Is it the medics or the coaches fault?

It’s the fault of Baldini. He brought him to the club – not the fault of scouting/coaching/insert other reason here….

    • Syd December 27, 2017 at 2:24 am

Lamela will be a fantastic squad player, hold no fear. he has been in so many scoring positions in the last 3 weeks. he has fluffed one or two but on the other occasions the ball simply did not reach him…..but he was there

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? December 27, 2017 at 12:14 am

Watching Alex Pritchard wondering why we never tried to get a tune out of him. Technically great. 2 footed, vision. Better than Onomah by a country mile.

    • MiT December 27, 2017 at 12:42 am

I liked the kid, but he did have a difficult time with going into tackles with a temper and coming out with a knock. Perhaps it was that. Perhaps he did not mesh well with squad chemistry. Whatever it was, 8M from Norwich evidently outweighed his promise at the time.

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? December 27, 2017 at 12:45 am

Yeah, he got injured at the worst time playing for England u21’s. 8 mill is a lot for a youngster. We all know Levy takes the money.

  • Accy December 26, 2017 at 11:44 pm

Just watching the match – best performance of the season.

Dele’s new agent obviously told him to stay on his feet. He’s actually gone and played football today and done it well.

Watching Harry Kane make all these personal landmarks at Wembley is all wrong. He should be gracing the Lane. That’s where it should all be happening. On the same turf as former hero’s. ENIC go fuck yaselfs.

    • McG ⚽⚽ December 27, 2017 at 12:04 am

So you saying we should stay in the old Stadium for the rest of HK’s career? Get a grip & enjoy!!

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? December 27, 2017 at 12:15 am

        Nope. Just stayed full stop.

  • Horndog December 26, 2017 at 11:03 pm

Just watched “The Lane”, it was fantastic, emotional, brilliant. What a grand old lady, so glad I got to see her in all of her glory. We can only hope the new stadium can come close.

  • gavlav December 26, 2017 at 10:00 pm

Can’t see West brom or Swansea surviving this year. Both playing football that’s beyond pish. Fancy Stoke to join them. Saints will sack this clown and pull it around.

  • McG ⚽⚽ December 26, 2017 at 9:59 pm

Said we’d come good, just gotta keep the faith!! So, Wanyama back in a week’s time, Toby in less than a month. Now 6 points off second and have Mancs to play at Wembley. I’m saying we’re good for 2nd, and will prove better than all bar City this season.

    • gloster1861 December 26, 2017 at 11:10 pm

Less than a month? And Victor in a week? Is that reliable?

      • McG ⚽⚽ December 26, 2017 at 11:15 pm

Wanyama officially due back 2nd Jan. Toby doing outside work already, so I recon he’ll be back within 30 days, that’s a hunch.

          • McG ⚽⚽ December 26, 2017 at 11:24 pm

I think we have a better squad than most for handling both P/L & C/L fixtures, part of why I think we’ll still finish 2nd this year!

            • gloster1861 December 26, 2017 at 11:38 pm

I’d settle for third place and the Champions League title.

  • Gus December 26, 2017 at 8:56 pm

Harry Kane was one fire yesterday, and the supply from Dele and Son was excellent. Dispatching Soton in convincing fashion was the perfect end of year present

There are 3 kinds of people in this world. Those who are good at maths, and those who aren’t.

    • richspurs December 26, 2017 at 7:38 pm

4 if you include those who are average.

    • gloster1861 December 26, 2017 at 7:52 pm

Do you mean arithmetic? Many kinds of mathematical disciplines, some of which are about spatial awareness rather than number. You can be adept at some, and less so others. Einstein wasn’t very good with calculus by all accounts, but what an imagination.

Er yes, obviously. There are 60 bricks in a square metre and a bag of multi finish should cover approximately 10m2. That’s maths also. Im a fakin genius.

I must have been asleep at the switch but how in the hell have we been screwed into having two PL matches in three days? Swansea away on Jan 2 and West Ham home on Jan 4. What fuckwit thought that was a good idea. I was unaware we had 20 outfield players ready to play and I doubt anyone else does either.

    • gloster1861 December 26, 2017 at 7:13 pm

Discussed this yesterday. Some plonker at the PL thought less chance of crowd trouble with Wet Sham if it was a midweek game instead of the weekend.

As an ex keeper myself I saw it all (in front of me) on the pitch and got word to my midfield general on how to change things (fuck the manager) this is the trenches . Hugo is worth the odd mistake-s.

    • gloster1861 December 26, 2017 at 7:49 pm

Except he does feck all. Even in a dispute when cards are being produced or there is a fracas, do you see Hugo coming put of goal to talk to the referee. Never to my memory.
