Faking dìsappointing performance with Dembele Dier Davies and Son missing fìtrst half and Lamela showboating instead of getting stuck in. Worst performance with a fortunate outcome. WBA won’t be so charitable on Saturday.

    • Camus May 1, 2018 at 6:46 am

It was a crucial game. We really needed those 3 points, and we won.

      • Gus May 1, 2018 at 7:09 am

We won. We kept distance from the racists. Kane will be happy getting on the score sheet again.

  • SeattleSpursGuy May 1, 2018 at 3:36 am

OK, just watched the game on tape.

THIS was the cause the self-harming?

It was no classic, they all can’t be. It was two decent goals and a clean sheet. Jan and Hugo were great, CE pulled the usual strings, Harry back in the goals. Son and Moose were the only ones really below par.

    Twern’t that bad.

    • MiT May 1, 2018 at 4:05 am

Two entirely different halves. First half, it was only Watford’s ineptitude at the goal and Lloris’ being well on that kept them from pulling even, let alone going ahead.

No negatives over the second half really, was an average half for Spurs. First half was a mess of clumsy touches, sloppy passes, with little to no real pressure on them. It was a half very unbecoming of this squad, and honestly a surprise to behold. Just sloppy.

      • SeattleSpursGuy May 1, 2018 at 4:19 am

I agree it was sloppy in the 1st, Moose particularly guilty of giving the ball away, but the angst seemed out of proportion to what was happening out there. Just my take.

    • Mad Carew May 1, 2018 at 1:03 am

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we start next season with as strong a squad, the idea of playing the first 6 games away puts us on the back foot from the start, we can but hope !

      • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 1:07 am

Very much depends on who we play that if say 50% of the games are against our main rivals which is unlikely we could be struggling but if they are against supposed cannon fodder we ought be ok.

        • Mad Carew May 1, 2018 at 1:10 am

We are slow starters, usually due to late activity in the Summer Window with players missing out on pre Season, let’s hope this is rectified, I have my doubts.

    • Nick May 1, 2018 at 1:05 am

It’s the notion that because you have the fortune to start at the top that you are better than those that will never get those opportunities.Give me a million pound & I’ll stay a millionaire maybe even make some more. But a bloke that works all his life for £30k a year isn’t ambitious or deserving of more ? Give poch £900m then say he has everything to prove

      • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 1:10 am

millions mean nothing unless you recruit well. Look at Evertons poor summer purchases. Enough said

        • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 1:14 am

What Guardiola has accomplished is moulding expensive signings into a well oiled machine team unit.

          • Nick May 1, 2018 at 1:21 am

It’s easier to add to a squad though isn’t it? Whenever we spend it’s usually to replace a previously vital component. When those with money spend its to address a weakness

Agree to a point with Everton there was a plan that the manager had, then the club made the Rooney decision which fucked the manager over.I think they’ve been unlucky with injuries & bought well but Rooney was forced in & upset the balance

          • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 1:19 am

Evertons ineffective spending policy simply mirrored our “magnificent 7” failings

            • Nick May 1, 2018 at 1:24 am

I can’t agree.the Everton boss never had a chance once Rooney was bought.he was the opposite of what he was trying to achieve

  • Nick May 1, 2018 at 12:35 am

If Lloris had played like that last few weeks poch would’ve had to make a choice for the semi.as it was the choice made itself.good tonight though from the Frenchman

    • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:39 am

Yes indirectly he won us the match!

      • Nick May 1, 2018 at 12:45 am

More than indirectly DD.the midfield collapsed tonight again.I love dembele but he’s shot.second 50/50 in as many games & he goes off injured.he can’t hack it any more.thats why I think he’ll go abroad in the summer

        • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:51 am

Unusually a lot of misplaced passes this eve with Kane looking isolated up front.

          • Nick May 1, 2018 at 12:59 am

Tired & unsure of themselves David.Kane hasn’t been right for a couple of months even prior to the injury but no one on here agrees with me on that.

            • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 1:01 am

In fairness Kanes dip in form is noticeably more post injury than pre injury.

              • Nick May 1, 2018 at 1:18 am

I watch every game & definitely saw a dip 3 or 4 games before the injury. The running, the touch, the lack of link up play.i may be doing him a disservice & the midfield/service more to blame but that’s how I see it

      • paul May 1, 2018 at 12:25 am

Pep deserves more credit than he gets, you still have to buy the right type of player with the bigger picture in mind, with the right attitude, the right flexibility and get them to take on your ever rotating tactics, accept a herculean work ethic and pull everyone together to create a living, breathing team to dominate the world’s most competitive league. He needed one seasons prep and then bang.

        • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:27 am

He has clearly made Sterling a better player.

          • paul May 1, 2018 at 12:29 am

Sterling took some serious stick on here recently for his finishing but this is essentially a winger that’s netted 20+ goals this season and god knows how many assists, would that we had someone so poor

              • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:52 am

Fair point but how much did they pay for Neymar?

                • Nick May 1, 2018 at 12:55 am

I’m firmly of the belief the Neymar deal was only for him to end up at Madrid.Barcelona wouldn’t sell directly so he buys himself out of the contract plays a year at PSG then off back to Spain

                  • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:57 am

Perhaps you are correct but Neymar was bought for PSG to win the CL and failed again.

Very interesting what Gary Neville had to say about Pooch tonight, just read an article in the MailOnline about it, well worth a read.

You mean he wants him to manage Man United?

Look he has done very well for us and probably deserves better but its like people are over the top with the whole idea that he has taken a shit team and done wonders with us.

I dont see it that way.he has done good things. Developing the system, getting the players fit enough to play it.His strategies and tactics in play, thinking on his feet are not the best. So he is hardly great….maybe yet…maybe never

    • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:08 am

Just dont get it why Poch persists playing Sissoko!

      • TheCincinnatiYid May 1, 2018 at 12:10 am

        Comic relief.

You know the rest of them can do better. You know Sissy can’t. Laughter is the best medicine.

        • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:13 am

It looked easier to score than miss but true to form he never fails to disappoint when his first contribution was a nasty challenge on Capoue.

          • Ronwol196061 May 1, 2018 at 12:18 am

i just find using Sissoko as a whipping boy is crazy. I dont expect a lot from Sissoko so whatever I get Im happy with. Pochs played him enough to make me wonder how much he was happy with Sissoko and yet others cant get a look in. I understand maybe its Sissokos style, his power, his work rate does it for Poch. But really I have to wonder more at Poch than Sissoko

            • Sexy Beast May 1, 2018 at 12:19 am

I think he is playing him to rub Levy’s nose in it

No there are others he could have played but didnt. NKoodou for instance. No Poch relied on Sissoko.

Yes but I dont think for any reason other than we dont see him in the future and he couldnt get a price for him. I actually think he has a chance. He played him for 6 minutes when he was with us and now Moura couldnt even get 6 minutes vrs Watford.

                    • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:28 am

Surely Moura should have come on instead of Sissy?

The messiah syndrome is no different than our quest for the title.
Poch is in perfect place to be the next messiah.Perfect for the dream. His choices are not the best, his subs are not the best and he still hasnt learned yet (what he has done is got them to play good enough…not for the title but good enough) But he is positioned to be a messiah. His face fits

                    • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:37 am

If I had to trust your opinion over Gary Neville’s Ron I’d be looking at it differently to the way I see it.
Neville has for me been the most enlightening pundit in all my years of watching football on tv.
I think he is spot on, a lot of people don’t seem to appreciate Pooch as much as I do on here.
I will say this, if and when he does go we will miss him a hell of a lot quicker then a lot of you realise right now.

      • David Dillenberg May 1, 2018 at 12:20 am

If he has not already surely Poch realises by now that given financial constraints he has taken the side as far as he can go? without talking bonkers Interesting assessment if Wenger could do a better job!

        • Sexy Beast May 1, 2018 at 12:26 am

Pooch has been fantastic at identifying areas in the team that need strengthening and picking players while he has spent very little, he gets the team to be greater than the sum of its parts better then most all the while playing a very attractive style of football.
          What’s not to like?

  • Sexy Beast April 30, 2018 at 11:22 pm

On the evidence of that performance we are running on empty as a team, 13/14 good enough players to play Champions League and premier league and now it is catching up with us big time. Wembley is a curse when you have 38,000 empty seats, the fans have had enough…..
Roll on next season I say!

  • paul April 30, 2018 at 11:19 pm

SO – there is no scenario whereby we finish fourth and get displaced, right?

    • MiT April 30, 2018 at 11:33 pm

They need 4 points out of the last 9.

      That should do it.

However, 9 out of the last 9 nips 3rd from Pool. That would be nice. Some of their fans are a bit OTT.

Absolutely cannot play like the first half of today’s match. Don’t know what the problem was, but Spurs looked as bad over that first half as I have seen them in a long time.

  • SeattleSpursGuy April 30, 2018 at 11:17 pm

So, I wonder if the pundit’s narrative will be Liverpool are under pressure, in lackluster form in the league, and in danger of being pipped to 3rd by Spurs?

    Eh, who am I kidding?

    • paul April 30, 2018 at 10:55 pm

4 points out of 12 guarantees us fourth as far as i can see but the doomsday scenario of Pooh winning the CL and Arse winning ropey wouldl mean fourth place finisher is displaced into ropey, so to be absolutely sure we need to finish third, which means horror of horrors i will be willing Cheatski on against pooh, ugh.

      • AntSpurs April 30, 2018 at 10:57 pm

            • Caspurs♿️ April 30, 2018 at 11:10 pm

A draw between the racists and poo is the best result. Puts the racists too far behind, and further increases our chance of securing 3rd place. Even a racist win (provided we beat W Brom) could be quite amusing, speshly if poo fall out of the top 4 and fail to win the CL.

              • AntSpurs April 30, 2018 at 11:11 pm

All results are good…it’s called a win win win.

              • gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 11:13 pm

I can’t make up my mind who I want most to fail. Chelscum or Pooh, although Salah is swinging it for the reds ATM.

                • AntSpurs April 30, 2018 at 11:14 pm

Chelsea for sure *hands down (or up 🤔)

          • gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 11:03 pm

Based on us maintaining a superior goal difference.

            • paul April 30, 2018 at 11:04 pm

YEs out of 9, my mishtake occifer. We don’t want 4th though Glos, well not until we know Arse are out of ropey..

              • gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 11:06 pm

We’re OK unless Chelscum pip Pooh into fourth place.

                • AntSpurs April 30, 2018 at 11:07 pm

If Chelsea beat pooh then we’ll take Pooh’s position in 3rd. Which means that Pooh winning CL knocks out Chelsea.

                • gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 11:08 pm

Although in that event wed be third anyhow!!

          • paul April 30, 2018 at 10:49 pm

yup was looking at that one too. Have basically run out of good stuff to watch on Netflix/Amazon and itunes. Am saving Westworld season 2 until there’s enough out to binge. You found any undiscovered gems??

            • Accy April 30, 2018 at 10:52 pm

Not a huge amount on netflix. Enjoyed Better Call Saul (tho need to have watched Breaking Bad to appreciate the characters.)

Got an eye on Designated Survivor.

Signed up to Amazon prime to watch Sneaky Pete on this blog’s recommendation – enjoyed series 1 of that so far.

Homeland on C4 (catchup?) if you’re into that…

              • Accy April 30, 2018 at 10:53 pm

                Narcos on netflix too

              • paul April 30, 2018 at 11:01 pm

Did Saul before BB actually and it worked out well because he was more rounded character with some residual hope at that point. Designated survivor is total popcorn, so cliched but painfully bingeable (i’m sure a brain scan whilst watching would reveal flatlined alpha waves!)

SP 1st season is good but have held off on S2 coz everyone i know says it just got silly silly. Homeland i just can’t do. Narcos was just kind of depressing for me.

Looming tower thought was v.good, as was Legion (surprisingly). Best of late for me was definitely Godless, Altered Carbon, the leftovers amongst a few. The Americans i really enjoyed but became repetative. Hidden gem for me was Travellers

                  • paul April 30, 2018 at 11:06 pm

lolz, i always start like that but er indoors can’t binge like i can so i end up ahead of her on everything – absolutely not allowed for GOT or WW, that would be bad!

                    • Accy April 30, 2018 at 11:08 pm

Yeah, sleeping on the sofa for going ahead on Orange is the New Black (which went a bit arty farty by season 3)

The Sinner is a good one to do together and then there’s obvious one of Stranger Things but i’m assuming you’ve been there. If you lap up anything sci-fi Star Trek discovery was surprisingly good but swerve the new lost in space, it’s terrible!

                    • Accy April 30, 2018 at 11:11 pm

Don’t let Nut hear you say that…

Stranger Things we couldn’t get into. Maybe because it was hyped so much. She gave up on it, so I did too. I’m sure it’s alright.

After all their hard work up to March, to see it peter out but still needing to find the drive to secure champions league has mentally affected them. Some understanding of this wouldn’t go amiss..”

I think its Dembs. Slows the ball, mostly turning back, no penetration, can gain and keep posession(his primary asset) but also overrated in posession, 0 assists 0 goals, makes the customary blooper.

1 point behind Pool with a game in hand. 5 points ahead of Chelsea and 11 ahead on goal difference. And the dippers and chavs play each other next. I think we can afford a bit of confidence that we’ll have CL football in the new place.

    • Urbane Sturgeon April 30, 2018 at 10:15 pm

                • stevo1987 April 30, 2018 at 10:16 pm

Not long though we could have stayed as long as we like as we had landed immigrants visas. Sort of got overtaken by circumstances really. My eldest was born in Fredericton so he’s a dual national. Anyway, apologies for winding you up a few weeks back. It’s kind of frustrating supporting this mob….

                  • ronwol96061 April 30, 2018 at 10:21 pm

Is ok Steve at least you can admit it and we are a frustrating team to support.
                    But they are ours

      • ronwol96061 April 30, 2018 at 10:08 pm

David it was a virtual universe
        Good though.
Worked out well in the end.

Fuck maybe the Unitef game was from 6 months ago too?

        • DAVID April 30, 2018 at 10:14 pm

Don’t talk about the Poxy United game…

  • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 10:00 pm

    Fucking Kane is SO NEGATIVE.

Just said we were lucky with the first goal.

    Sort him out Nilly.

    • richspurs April 30, 2018 at 10:01 pm

      Lol

    • Camus April 30, 2018 at 10:02 pm

      Easy, Glos.
Nilly’s one of the good guys from what I can tell.

      • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 10:36 pm

        I’m pulling Nilster’s leg.

  • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:59 pm

    WE WON.

    • stevo1987 April 30, 2018 at 10:01 pm

      Well observed.

  • Lilywhite without the ll April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

There’s been a lot of games more like this this season than there has been the Madrid game in terms of quality or entertainment. This does show though we do have a good team and a good manager, however a manager that only plays his trusted players rightly or wrongly of which we don’t have enough of….

  • Harry Hotspur April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

    Great teams win dreadful games.

    This game was pretty dreadful.

    Great job by Poch.

    • Camus April 30, 2018 at 10:00 pm

I missed most of it due to a shite stream but if United had won that one 2-0 playing poorly we’d all be saying Mourinho got the job done 👍🏻

      • Urbane Sturgeon April 30, 2018 at 10:05 pm

In future Camus try this, has worked very well for me during the last couple of months……………..

    • Still Nil Nil April 30, 2018 at 10:00 pm

The semi final defeat has clearly affected them more than they probably thought it would.

And so to win that was a very good win in those circumstances.

Any other time it wouldn’t be great.

  • caveman April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Lamela was showboating since he came on. Poch may be satisfied with that performance, but they were pants.

  • Camus April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

    3 points! Come on!!
    That’s all I wanted, lads. 👊🏻

  • Tappaspur April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

    “Sissoko looks like someone playing fifa but doesn’t know what buttons to press 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • East Stand April 30, 2018 at 9:57 pm

He doesn’t offer much does he, looks permanently confused!

    • stevo1987 April 30, 2018 at 10:00 pm

If he can get on before Lamela that says something about Poch cause Sissy is bleedin awful.

      • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 10:01 pm

Good point. Sissoko was a scared Poch crowding midfield.

  • caveman April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

That was the worst winning performance I’ve seen all season. They were pure shite. Scared of their own shadows.

    • Camus April 30, 2018 at 9:57 pm

      They all count, Captain.
The table never lies, they say.
We’re looking a bit better on there tonight. 👍🏻

  • Nick April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

For the 1st time just want the scousers to do a job on the chavs now

    • Tappaspur April 30, 2018 at 9:57 pm

      I want a draw

    • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

      Really?

Draw is a the best result. Screws both.

  • Jerard April 30, 2018 at 9:55 pm

We going to need a major overhaul this summer. Seems like some players have had their heads turned. Don’t want to enter our new stadium with a toxic bunch…

    • richspurs April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

They seem to play if they feel like it. Frustrating. Infuriating.

    • stevo1987 April 30, 2018 at 10:02 pm

eh? Who are you and your spouting?

  • Tappaspur April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

    Job done. happy days.

    • East Stand April 30, 2018 at 9:59 pm

      This.

It’s games like this that you’re expected to stroll through that can catch you out. Very much job done.

  • legoverlass April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

Davies and Trippier are still pants. beaten so many times down the flanks and never take on the player when going forward. Slows us down so much so many times.

    • East Stand April 30, 2018 at 9:59 pm

Ah but they work for less than the going rate…

  • Nick April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

Lamela holding the ball better than anyone when he came on

    • stevo1987 April 30, 2018 at 9:55 pm

Trouble is he holds on to it too long and loses it. When will he learn?

      • Urbane Sturgeon April 30, 2018 at 9:55 pm

        +1

        • caveman April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

And goes round in fecking circles.

  • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:53 pm

Lloris has had some exercise tonight.

    • richspurs April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

      Two great saves.

      • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:55 pm

Yep. And that important clearance outside the box.

    • caveman April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

      MOTM

      • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

        Agree with that.

    • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

Still, clean sheet courtesy of shite finishing by Watford.

And that is the truth however much other posters resent ‘negativity’.

      • richspurs April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Verily I say unto you. We blowest hot n cold. Nobody knoweth the reason why.

  • Dan April 30, 2018 at 9:51 pm

Some kind hearted citizen decided to set his garage on fire so I missed the second half , I take it we improved?

    • baz April 30, 2018 at 9:52 pm

      They done you a favour

    • paul April 30, 2018 at 9:53 pm

That’s the most exciting thing all night

    • Urbane Sturgeon April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Had he been watching the first half?

  • Gloster1861 April 30, 2018 at 9:51 pm

Time for a second for Kane.

  • YidInExile April 30, 2018 at 9:49 pm

  • Tezza April 30, 2018 at 9:47 pm

  • paul April 30, 2018 at 9:45 pm

Dear StillNilNil, i don’t know you and i’ve never met you but i’ve been reading this blog for years (commenting for the last couple) and i’ve always enjoyed reading your posts whether i’ve agreed with them or not. Like many others on here you bring a unique individual perspective that helps inform a greater whole and personally i would miss your contributions. Things have changed on here, it used to seem (at least to me) like a bit of a closed shop with all the regulars only ever willing to reply to each other but these days more lurkers and newbies are more confident of posting than ever before – clearly not all of them are your cup of tea, maybe i’m not either but still, why not stay and fight your corner?

    • East Stand April 30, 2018 at 9:48 pm

Yeah Nilly, don’t go mate. It will be a duller place without you old chap!

      • Still Nil Nil April 30, 2018 at 9:52 pm

I’ll still be reading it and it’s great more people’s are confident of contributing.

Of course people have different views and it should be expressed but the sheer negativity without seeing that maybe the players aren’t in a great place for whatever reason, whether due to uncertainty regarding some players, their pay or maybe that a season that held do much promise a month ago evaporated in just 2 games (juve manure) and maybe they, as human beings get affected by this too.

After all their hard work up to March, to see it peter out but still needing to find the drive to secure champions league has mentally affected them.

Some understanding of this wouldn’t go amiss.

        • 💋 April 30, 2018 at 9:54 pm

All good things come to an end, mate.

        • paul April 30, 2018 at 9:55 pm

You’ve just made a great case for staying Nilly, your views can take the edge off others, so don’t underestimate your ability to effect change, no joke.

          • Still Nil Nil April 30, 2018 at 9:57 pm

Thanks Paul but I’m not trying to change people’s views, just be objective about what actually is happening out there

            • paul April 30, 2018 at 9:59 pm

              Which is a good thing.

              Anyway, whatevs boss ;’)

          • Mad Carew April 30, 2018 at 9:59 pm

If he can’t stand the heat he may as well leave the kitchen, making excuses for players on £100k a week who barely broke sweat tonight.

            • Still Nil Nil April 30, 2018 at 10:02 pm

              You aiming that at me?

        • Mad Carew April 30, 2018 at 9:56 pm

We are also talking about players who are paid huge Wages to perform week in week out, forgive me for expecting a few to honestly put in a shift.

          • Still Nil Nil April 30, 2018 at 9:58 pm

I expect no other comment than that from you Raz, you clearly have no understanding of my point.

            • Mad Carew April 30, 2018 at 10:07 pm

It wasn’t rocket science, enjoy you sabattical

  • Yippers April 30, 2018 at 9:45 pm

LAmela is a pile of shit

    • East Stand April 30, 2018 at 9:50 pm

He’s not as good as he thinks he is but that’s a bit strong. I’d say pretty average considering his billing when he arrived.

If Lamela is a pile of shit what does that make Sissy & Aurier? I dread to think!
