West Ham and Tottenham have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Spurs won the derby at the London Stadium 3-2 but almost squandered a three-goal lead. The Hammers were pressing for an equaliser in stoppage time when a late melee occurred, prompting the charge.

A statement from the FA read: “West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been charged by The FA following their fixture on Saturday (September 23, 2017). It is alleged that in or around the 95th minute of the game, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

“They have until 6pm on September 28, 2017 to respond to the charge.”

Five players were cautioned by referee Michael Oliver in stoppage time. West Ham’s Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Andre Ayew were shown yellow cards, while Eric Dier and Fernando Llorente were booked for Spurs.

The incident which prompted the charge came after a foul by Carroll which drew angry reactions from both sides and saw four players booked. Ayew’s caution for a foul came earlier in stoppage time.

The visitors were under pressure after being reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining when Serge Aurier received a second yellow card. Javier Hernandez had reduced the Hammers’ deficit to two goals five minutes earlier and Cheikhou Kouyate’s goal three minutes from time gave the hosts hope of a point which never came.

    Poch is wise:

“Harry Kane is so young, for he is the one of the best today and one of the best in the world.

“He can be better because he is young, he can improve because he is as professional. There is a gap to improve.

“All the praise and words I can use to describe him, I cannot find any more. I never said he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo, this is a good opportunity to clarify.

“Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are on a different level, they have showed this over the last five-ten years.

“We cannot put such pressure on Harry. He is a striker, a killer, but completely different.

“If you ask Antonio Conte, he will say Alvaro Morata is the best. Pep Guardiola will say Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus, Jose will say it is Romelu Lukaku.

“Harry Kane is one of the best and in that level of players who score a lot of goals each week. It is difficult to say who is the best.”

    Did anyone get killed?

There has for a while now, been an edge playing West Ham..blame Defoe,Lasagna,Wannabees..etc..but it brings a bit more interest to the game. In Ice Hockey instigation is a tactic and while its ugly unto itself it does fire up the players on both sides as retribution takes over. While I dont recommend it as part of the game often it could wake up the dead and save the fans from a boring game. I think the referees should take it in context and apply their cards wherever that can to turn down the atmosphere a bit. But treating it all like a war crime afterwards is ridiculous.
What else does the FA do? Exactly.FA.

There’s no Deli, so there are no silly hand shakes going on, but Son’s still knee sliding, Kane fist pumping to the crowd. In the league we’re scraping by with 3 or 4 first teamers missing, we’re not playing at our best yet, so I doubt the players are as happy as they otherwise might be, I think it’s a combination of things.
I’m hoping we don’t play Dembele on Sat, complete rest until either Bournemouth or Real. We shouldn’t need him to beat the cherries as is happens, just get him sorted. It states on physioroom we should have every player back by 5th November, (I’ll take Lamela with a pinch of salt there) so I see us hitting our peak from beginning of December, just gotta stay in touch with the leaders (which we’re managing so far). One thing I’d really like to see now is Toby sorted out, seem to make a big difference to Eriksen’s performances last season. Once we hit the form of last season, I reckon we’ll be looking at happy bunnies again…

Id like to see Dembele rested on Saturday but we cant really control how he is used in the Belgium set up. Unless he is injured enough to be overlooked or rules himself out

I doubt he’ll play for Begium, if he’s any sense he’ll prioritize, rest up & get himself sorted.

I can agree, they do not seem as happy now however I think this has a lot to to with the huge pressure that relative success and improvement has placed upon still young shoulders. Wembley and the New Stadium do not help either.

    The new stadium? Eh??
The new stadium will be god dam mother fucking amazing and the players should rise up for the crowd and atmosphere, I have nothing but good positive vibes for the new lane with the crowd on top of the team with its proximity to the pitch compared to Wembley.
Not only will the new stadium lift the players but it will massively lift the fans which is what is missing at Wembley in my humble opinion ⚽️

What i meant by that is that is, its inevitable the additional hype around the new stadium will bring extra focus on the team and therefore added pressure. Wembely and the media constantly talking about the ‘hoo-do’ is just another aspect.

Don’t get me wrong I can not wait for the new place to be built and we have our home again. You are right our players need to and should embrace this step forward. Poch and the THFC staff’s job is to make sure the players don’t buckle under the weight of expectation.
I dont believe they are at the moment, but Syd was right to point out the difference in body language and I think the above has a bearing on that.

Fine spurs £50 and relegate West Ham 👍

It was one of the nastiest scuffs that we have witnessed in decades. Such sceens have no place in the modern game.

      • McG ⚽⚽ September 28, 2017 at 10:30 am

Way worse than eye gouging at Chelsea..

        • baz September 28, 2017 at 10:36 am

We can all breathe easily knowing that the FA will do the right thing.

They will take care of relegation all by themselves 🙂
