Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has proven himself to be an excellent source over the years and he is convinced that Mousa Dembélé very much wishes to bail from Tottenham.

“Mousa Dembélé’s agents are currently in Italy. Juventus, Napoli & Inter are all linked with the midfielder, but he’s considering his options. His contract with Spurs is running out in 2019.

He doesn’t want to sign a new deal.”

Spurs fans shouldn’t take this personally.

The jig was well and truly up on Mousa some time ago, and this old war horse is right to look for a sunnier climes in his dotage.

In fact the idea we can struggle on ‘hoping’ that he can still turn in a good performance now and again at his age is frankly risible.

What is regretful here is that yet again we have a key player that we could see with out own eyes was deteriorating (natural causes) – and one who spoke to the club a whole year ago – yet there appears that nothing has been arranged.

Perhaps I am wrong, perhaps THFC knew Mousa was leaving and already have his replacement lined up.

In which case, it would follow in that this new lad will be made known to us shortly.

Some chance.

“The club currently have far too many non-locally training players in their squad for the Champions League. They had one too many in the second half of last season with Juan Foyth having to drop out for Lucas Moura. Add to that Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Vincent Janssen are also set to return for pre-season training.”

Is THAT what it was? I was looking for a dog with diarrhoea.

  • Who’s The Daddy June 13, 2018 at 5:30 pm

Apparently spurs have asked to play a game or 2 at Wembley at the start of the season.

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:15 pm

Why didn’t Poch walk. Just the money?? It ain’t the transfers.

    • caveman June 13, 2018 at 5:34 pm

Poch will get proper replacements for any departing players. Grealish is a punt, probably well worth taking. With the right coach he could be a good player. Pity he reminds me of Jack Wilshire. Wait a minute………………….

      • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 5:38 pm

I don’t hate the thought of buying Grealish if 15 mill is the price. If Poch thinks he can develop the kid, fine by me. But there is no way this is the ‘brave’ sort of move Poch was talking about.

      • Yippers June 13, 2018 at 5:54 pm

If he had 1/10 of the talent wilshere has he would be worth a punt. But he doesn’t. He’s a terribly awfully bad player

Brill! Championship player. We really are brave. Last time I checked we will be likely taking on the likes of June, Madrid and Barca next season. Cheap and cheerfully again. No quality. Fuck off ENIC FC.

      • Who’s The Daddy June 13, 2018 at 5:29 pm

        Wasn’t dele a league 1 player?
Didn’t dele have issues and with Pochs help get thru them?

Grealish might turn into a polished turd.

        He might not.

At £15m that’s a punt for potential worth taking.

I doubt he is the marquee signing, I feel if he’s signed it’s along the lines of one for the future.

If not, I’m also sure levy will get back at least what he’ll pay for him.

        • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 5:55 pm

If we get him cheap enough and he doesn’t kill anyone/get busted for animal porn downloads etc then Levy can sell him on.

      • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 5:56 pm

It would be a massive cop-out unless there was some real class shipped in too…

    • Arch June 13, 2018 at 4:50 pm

No but seriously why don’t we use Dembele to get Milinkovic-Savic or someone similar if we are going to sell

  • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 4:42 pm

USA will host the 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada

At least we’ll qualify for that one.

    • stevo1987 June 13, 2018 at 4:59 pm

I don’t know why England have only hosted it once. Seems nuts to me.

      • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 5:07 pm

There was a good chance the last go-round, but lots of ready to go stadiums can’t compete with with the graft to be had from building all new ones in Qatar.

“Sky Sports News understands Tottenham made two submissions, one to play their first four games away from home – and another to play three away from home, with the fourth a home game at Wembley.”

Cool. Not like we’re usually slow starters or anything.

I don’t get these reports. We requested 24hrs after fixtures to sort what we’re doing. Friday should be the D day.

  • Lilywhite June 13, 2018 at 3:24 pm

Me love you long time H but disagree re Mousa. I would agree on a few things: he’s past his prime, is physically fragile and, thus, somewhat undependable – combining those factors makes for a less than optimistic view on his remaining years. Moreover, if he wants out – I’d love to know why if that’s the case – then what the hell can we do…

Having said all of that, I’d maintain, notwithstanding the above, our mercurial maestro has, even last term, provided us w years of irreplaceable football and could continue to do so. The guy has been and still is a beast, a deep lying lynch pin who provides invaluable intangibles – yes not enough goals and assists but vital maintenance of possession and link up play from very difficult positions. If he were’t the apparent underachiever that it’s sad to say he is, Mousa not only could’ve but likely would’ve walked into any side on the planet. Strike that, glided 😉

Forget the practical impossibility of replacing Mousa. Hypothetically, if money, Levy, the hyper-inflated and competitive market, etc. weren’t an issue, who could replace him? I’d suggest next to no one. I’d love Winks to pick up from a couple of seasons ago or for us to unearth some rare talent, but my bet is we either bring in a vastly inferior replacement or we don’t replace him at all and go w one combative, defensive midfielder and simply drop the holding guy. I do not want Wanyama AND Dier together. Too rigid.

    • caveman June 13, 2018 at 3:41 pm

Moreover, if he wants out – I’d love to know why if that’s the case – then what the hell can we do…he reason he wants out I presume is that he wants a BIG last contract for three or four years. Either Spurs offer him that or he is entitled to look around Europe for an alternative. If Levy had any sense (sorry H) he’d give him the contract and pay he wants. He’d repay it handsomely.

      • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 3:46 pm

Big contract in a gentler league so he can extend his career would be a good guess.

        • caveman June 13, 2018 at 3:55 pm

          Agree

      • Nick June 13, 2018 at 4:08 pm

Knowing his injury records we are never going to give him the deal he wants.if anyone takes a punt to give him 3 year deal good luck to them, they’ll only get a year of play out of him

  • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 3:19 pm

“What is regretful here is that yet again we have a key player that we could see with out own eyes was deteriorating (natural causes) – and one who spoke to the club a whole year ago – yet there appears that nothing has been arranged.”

I’ve said it before……should have been dealt with LAST summer.

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 2:20 pm

I called him as being crocked the season before last – this is another mend and make do job that is now threadbare.

He should have been in China a season ago.

Yep, then at least we could have bought a Chinese knock off copy as his replacement for this season.
