The way forward is clear. Spurs must buy and buy soon. There’s nothing to be gained by waiting until the transfer window is almost over before acquiring new talent. Players need time to bed in to the manager’s style of play and the longer the squad is together in preseason training the better for all concerned.

By the way, the first thing I would do is to reinvest the booking fee on all ticket sales – into a ticketing platform that could cope with traffic spikes.
