Quality Contract Extension On The Cards

By The Boy -

Son Heung-min is set to sign a new deal worth £150,000-a-week as reward for his impressive season with Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail.

The South Korean only signed a five-year contract last July, with his current deal worth around £110,000-a-week, but Spurs are ready to offer the forward another new deal before the start of next season, the paper says.

This is better news for Spurs, who have been forced watched the clock run down on contracts belonging to Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

The new deal is thought to be worth an additional £40,000 a week to the South Korean.

One can compare Son with any number of Premier League players that are earning up to twice as much money, and our 26 year old is ridiculously good value.

This is another gold star against Pochettino’s name. Keeping such an asset on such a modest terms is a credit to the Argentinian.

True say. It only just occurred to me the whole team was trying to avoid national service (I assume) no wonder they smashed it.

To be fair we have practically a whole u23 team out on loan or in the first team squad. The judgment is on the u18s, they’re doing very well.

Son’s value, apart from his improved performance, has multiplied by him avoiding national service in Korea.
Given that he would have had to take two years out of his career made him worthless in the transfer market. On current form spurs need to brace themselves for a big bid from both the domestic and European elite. It also helps that he is filling Wembley with his expat and visiting countrymen!

GREAT News!!

Reports like this, Alli etc… make me think the Jan, Toby and Christian deals are not money related. To be on par with the worlds best, Jan would only need a further £20k a week, and Toby would need to double, but still be lower than what Son and Alli are getting. I think Jan has been offered a short contract (or heaven forbid we are doing the Chelsea model of no deals over 30yrs old??). I think the Toby one is a worse situation. I think there is now a personal barrier, I think because he agreed to a value before VVD moved to Liverpool, then asked for more Levy turned stubborn, now I think perhaps Levy is breaking but Toby is being stubborn (bridges are burnt) then I also think both Toby and Christian have eyes on trophies now, and seeing 2 windows with no improvements, to one of the best teams in half a century, THE best team on average in England over 5yrs, they are realising that the board have no interest in taking that last step. I honestly cant see the Toby and Christian signing a new deal without seeing significant investment in the squad.

Another classic by match fixing event I expect at Bate Borisov yesterday. I said to myself before I watched highlights, I bet their goal was a set play…..and quel surprise a free header from a set play. Arse were getting behind them at will it was hilarious to think they couldn’t score. Check out Lakazettes 1st half header….he obviously struggles with the phrase ‘make it look good’. Arse will go through comfortably in 2nd leg in return for their part. Same things keep happening but of course this is all lunacy and can’t happen. 🎅

Dont agree with some of the points made but does show the ridiculous of football these days. I guess we all know that shady backroom deals have always been done but the continued impunity to even try to hide it is insulting. Whatever happened to brown bags of cash in a smoked filled room……..good old days

Lord Croker – “If they are not buying players then pay the ones who deserve it the going rate.”

Absolutely this. If this manager and Squad get you the number 9 in the world, pay them what they deserve to have gotten you there.
