It was a transfer tale of the last window that simmered for a good while, only to fizzle out into one of Jim White’s ‘and we’re hearing that despite substantial efforts by both parties, this is a deal that just cannot be done tonight…’ lines.

Sky’s amyl nitrate fuelled fool was giving us an indication of what had happened. Be it only a good few hours after the event.

Gladys tells me that THFC were doing their upmost to get the Moussa Dembélé deal over the line, but Fulham were insistent that the 19 year old be loaned back to them for the rest of the season.

In a not untypical fit of pique, Spurs decided to withdraw their interest if the player could not be put into a Spurs shirt straightaway.

Now Dembélé², or whatever we’re going to call him wasn’t happy about this.

Glad said the kid’s people were describing his condition on deadline day as ‘distraught’.

You can appreciate Fulham’s situation. Ross McCormack and Moussa being their only two front men and as of tonight, the Whites sit 17th (out of 24) despite having beaten QPR – at Loftus Road – this afternoon.

Moussa’s contract expires in June 2016.

The player is really keen to join us and really hit it off with Poch.

It’s difficult to believe that Dembélé won’t be being put through his paces at Hotspur Way come this summer.
