Woah there!

Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago that we were basking in an untrammelled bliss? We’d finished 2nd in the league, and were looking forward to moving forward, consolidating and who knows even exceeding my miserable expectations?

Bang. While we slept heavily reality hit us like a bucket of cold water in the face. From foetal and snoozy to stark awake; a waterboarding descent into hell.

Meanwhile in Gotham, Pochettino is telling people he’s calm.

He can’t be be calm. He can only be calm if he’s been lobotomised. He must be …fibbing. Compromised is one thing, but how compromised can he become before his position is untenable?

The Spurs squad wasn’t for for purpose as we finished 2nd. Yep, that’s right you bedwetting ninnies, our sole purpose is to win stuff and that squad was incapable of winning anything.

Oh sure we achieved lots of minor moments of cheerfulness along the way, but in the final analysis we basically walked away with a Junior Division Swimming certificate with ‘2 Lengths In Pyjamas’ crossed out and ‘Lots Of Possession Against Chelsea’ scribbled over the top.

Poch’s two core problems are straightforward enough fare and not to be debated by the sane.

  1. Address the 拢60million starting XI sinkhole courtesy of Sissoko and Lamela.
  2. Making the bench serve an actual purpose, oppose to house left over bottoms

Given that Spurs are the ONLY Premier League club not to have bought and that we have lost ANOTHER two first team players, we’re 4 members of our starting XI down.

Let me just repeat that for you, because I know that a handful of you otherwise intelligent and considered readers are secretly backward deadbeats.

We’re 4 members of our starting XI down.

Poch not only gets a break because he’s a nice guy, he gets a break because he’s not actually in charge. He’s not the decision maker. So the fact that we play Newcastle this weekend, and we’ve prepared by going backwards isn’t his fault.

But tell me, at what point does his position become untenable? For me, that point is when the window closes and Levy has treated him with abject contempt by making insufficient effort to address the 4 players down business.

THFC is not as some feeble minded tossers would try to kid you a poorhouse. We are perfectly able to trade and to spend sufficiently to get ourselves out of what is a negative position.

Again, at what point does his position become untenable?

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, far be it for me to tell him how to spend his money, but Uncle Joe is a farken billionaire and he and Daniel only look at Spurs as just another cash cow. I’m not saying spend their entire fortune but Joe is in a position to be remembered as someone as important to the history of the club as anyone, especially if they had spent just a bit more money to win us the title once in the last two years. They still have time but I won’t hold my breath

      • Ronan August 11, 2017 at 12:31 pm

Too right, a small fraction of his fortune is all it would take to achieve immortality among generations of spurs fans. But the idea clearly doesn’t appeal.

Harry鈥檚 mentioned this before I think whereby the last two seasons positions have been way above Levy鈥檚 and possibly Pochs expectations. Unless you think that Levy is purely here to destroy Spurs I believe his plan is to build the stadium and thereby increase income which would enable him to raise wages to a greater degree incrementally. Whether that increase is big enough is where the debate continues. However we will never be in a position in the foreseeable future to match the Mancs or Chelski, our brand is鈥檔t big enough. By getting a tiltle winning team so close has caused the current problem as players start to believe their own hype as to what they鈥檙e worth. If I was Poch Id turn it back round and say, you鈥檝e won nothing. Go out and win something and then come back and we鈥檒l have a conversation. Until then stop telling me what your worth.

I think the content is fine, frankly it doesn’t need to be more than that, it’s just an apology which doesn’t change the fact about the damage that had already been done. The public apology doesn’t really matter, but I bet that within Spurs he would have got a massive bollocking and put back in his place which includes being made to give a public apology statement which for an arrogant primadonna would have been hard to swallow.

Leyton Orient Football Club /藢le瑟t蓹n 藞蓴蓹ri蓹nt/ is a professional football club in Leyton, London, England. They play in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system, following relegation from the Football League in the 2016鈥17 season. They are known to their fans as the O’s, and club’s home colours are all red.

Leyton Orient have spent one season in the top flight of English football, in 1962鈥63. In 1978, they reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the only time in their history, under the management of Jimmy Bloomfield. Between October 1993 and September 1995, Orient did not win a single away game in the league, leaving them bottom of Division Two in 1994鈥95.

Leyton Orient’s home ground Brisbane Road is officially known as the Matchroom Stadium after former club chairman Barry Hearn’s sports promotion company. Hearn became chairman in 1995 after the club was put on sale for 拢5 by then-chairman Tony Wood, a period covered by the television documentary Orient: Club for a Fiver, made by production company Open Media for Channel 4.[2] In 2014, Hearn sold the club to Italian businessman Francesco Becchetti, who achieved two relegations in three years under 11 managers.[3] British-born businessman and Leyton Orient fan Nigel Travis took over the club in 2017.[4]

Leyton Orient finished seventh, one place away from the playoff positions, in both the 2010鈥11 and 2012鈥13 League One seasons. In the 2013鈥14 season, Orient lost the League One Play-Off final at Wembley to Rotherham United and in 2015 were relegated to League Two. On 22 April 2017, Orient were relegated to the National League, ending their 112 year stay in the Football League.

    • Camus August 11, 2017 at 11:35 am

      It’s a fair shout, and that’s what he’s been trying I think.
The problems start when a player breaks rank and says “No! I want more…!” as in the case of Rose. Poch is a good moral guide and tutor; we’ve seen the togetherness he’s fostered and heard how he gave Onomah the hairdryer treatment for turning up to training in a swanky motor. But at some point, while the pockets of all other PL players continue to bulge, as the carrots are dangled in their faces by their agents, some of our lot will want away.

So I’m agreeing with you, but tempered with the realism of knowing what kind of animal the modern day footballer is. (Some of) our lot won’t be immune to it forever.

    • Harry Hotspur August 11, 2017 at 11:22 am

      Who cares what you think?

  • RecaroN17 August 11, 2017 at 11:17 am

Why does this shit always happen to us?

    • gloster1861 August 11, 2017 at 11:23 am

I think there is a common factor at play here. The managers may change, and the playing staff. But Levy is perennial.

      • Camus August 11, 2017 at 11:26 am

    Sanity.
The last time there was a missile crisis we won everything.

  • frankywiggles August 11, 2017 at 10:58 am

targets being identified and its august lol. will potch want more levy summers if he gets top four again and clubs come whispering ? what about the star players ? is the project on course or has it already run its course ? not a question i thought i would be asking back in may.

  • Dom August 11, 2017 at 10:57 am

Season is over already. How can we perform to our best when the players are unsettled and we will have to integrate more exotic signings during the season? Potch values teamwork with no compromise. Wouldn’t bet against him looking elsewhere if they don’t perform. Well done Spurs, another complete balls up just when we are on the brink of something special.

    • Freund or Foe August 11, 2017 at 11:02 am

      • gloster1861 August 11, 2017 at 11:08 am

Will you be so dismissive of genuine concern if we have a lousy season? Just asking.

        • Freund or Foe August 11, 2017 at 11:16 am

Nope. The season hasn`t started, yet Dom suggests it`s already over.
Do you not think that`s a bit dramatical? Just asking.

          • gloster1861 August 11, 2017 at 11:20 am

Napoleon had a philosophy that you maximised your chances of winning the battle BEFORE the shooting started, by doing everything possible to stack the odds in your favour.

Something that is transparently not happening at Spurs. For purely financial reasons.

            • Freund or Foe August 11, 2017 at 11:23 am

              That`s deep Glos.
So do you think the season is over already?

              • gloster1861 August 11, 2017 at 11:27 am

Of course not. But the close season has caused concern. We need to get our ducks in a row asap.

                • Freund or Foe August 11, 2017 at 11:28 am

So you agree with me dismissing a post that states the season is over already?

                  • gloster1861 August 11, 2017 at 11:35 am

Over dramatic certainly. But I have empathy for the worry expressed.

  • Cal August 11, 2017 at 10:53 am

Can I ask what it is you actually want Harry…

Regarding the new stadium. Most supporters are excited about it and like myself don’t care about / are not aware of the social issues.

    Player salaries?

    New signings?

How would you like to see the club progress?

    • frankywiggles August 11, 2017 at 11:00 am

how has the club pushed on since may when we seemed on the brink of greatness? that is the question

    • Camus August 11, 2017 at 11:24 am

What’s exciting about the new stadium, Cal?
Is it “ensuring a sustainable business” through it, which Levy states is the aim of it?
Is it the occasional NFL game you’ll be able to attend there?
Is it the Bon Jovi and Nickelback gigs you’ll be able to attend there?
      Is it the cheese room?

    • Harry Hotspur August 11, 2017 at 11:24 am

If you don’t care, why the fuck should I bother giving you a civilised response. Fascinating though, that you raise the social issues on a blog that was entirely about team issues.

  • Big toe August 11, 2017 at 10:41 am

So Rose thinks he’s underpaid, I didn’t hear him refusing his wages when he couldn’t make it as a winger or his first 2 seasons at fullback when he was a liability. Several Spurs mangers stuck with him and he his now a decent player, maybe he should have gone to Man U 5 years ago because if he did he would have already started the season in “non-league” football. It makes me sick of the times I defended him when talking to my Spurs mates.

  • Gary M August 11, 2017 at 10:37 am

Simples, by the end of August when the dust settles from counting multiple duffle bags.

Here’s a start – this is Rose’s agent. Just look at the number of players on their books. Count the number of players each putting 10 per cent in their back pockets. It is entirely in the interests of these people to raise, raise and raise again already outlandish players’ salaries. They are the vultures feeding off soccer. Meanwhile the punters have to pay higher and higher ticket prices, millions can no longer afford to watch live soccer, owners are distant billionaires using soccer to inflate their egos and ownership is gettng concentrated in the hands of the super rich. Just recently portsmouth fc, one of the few supporter owned clubs was sold to the former CEO of Disney who knows and cares as much about soccer as I do re Mickey Mouse. Fan power is the only thing that will stop this and return soccer to the people…..

      You lost me at soccer.

The bubble will burst…..TV revenues are inflating it right now but in the longer term that is not sustainable. There are only so many people willing to watch football on the box or via social media. At some point saturation point will be reached and the edifice will totter. Most peoples’ lives are fairly rotten, made worse by Tory austerity policies. They see educationally sub normal people like the majority of Engish footballers earning twice or three times in a week what they earn in a year. Don’t expect them to harbour sympathy for the likes of Rose or his uncle. By the way, let’s have a probe of the uncle. Who is he? What is his name? What does he look like? How many 10 per cents is he earning? What is his motovation. Come on HH, some investigataive journalism please…..

    • Harry Hotspur August 11, 2017 at 10:29 am

The TV bubble is not bursting anytime soon. Did you get a chance to read the finance blog yesterday? I firmly believe that the conventional money SKY/BT has a good while to run and when they are through, Amazon and Netflicks are waiting in the wings. When they are done Facebook will step in.

You’re waiting for a bus that ain’t coming, pal.

      • Ed August 11, 2017 at 10:40 am

TV and soccer is only sustainable in the long term if audiences keep rising and that won’t or can’t happen. There are only so many people interested in the game and the more sordidly commercial the whole thing gets, the more soccer loses contact with ordinary people who love the game (as opposed to chees buyers!) the sooner the fall will come.

        • Harry Hotspur August 11, 2017 at 11:28 am

You’re sadly mistaken. Most humans on this planet prefer football to any other sport. Your doomsday scenario is extremely unlikely t pan out.

Most people don’t care if footballers are part of a satanic child abuse cult.

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? August 11, 2017 at 12:21 pm

I tried to put a bet on at William Hill this morning for Sessegnon to be the first signing through the door. at Spurs. I filled out my slip, took my wallet out and flashed my contactless card at the old boy behind the counter. “A tenner on that, guv'”, I said, confidently. He swiped my card and handed it back to me with a shrug. “You’ve got 拢9.99 left in your account, mate. You’re untennerble.”

    • Harry Hotspur August 11, 2017 at 10:35 am

      I also encountered disappointment recently.

I arrived early at Covent Garden opera house and made my way to the stage door. The old boy showed my through and I sat amongst a group of other heavy built men, some reading papers, others looking at phones.

Eventually I was called by name and taken by a short blond haired lady to the stage. ‘Your audition for The Placido Domingo Story, please…’

I gave it all I had and could feel my voice reverberate about the auditorium ‘Loving couples bill and coo, You should see the things I do, when I’m cleaning windows…’

A voice from the stalls replied ‘Your un-tenor-able… next!’

Sissoko knocked on Poch`s door this morning. “Gaffer, I think the problem I`ve had since I arrived here is that you are playing me in the wrong position. I need to play just behind the striker”.
    “Don`t be such a thicko” Poch replied, ” You`re completely un10able”.

I went to Boots yesterday, I`ve got a bit of an embarrassing issue. “Can I have a pack of Tena Lady pants please, the discreet ones, if you have them”.
The shop assistant gave me a strange look, then to my surprise said “I`m afraid not sir, you`re unTenable”.
So I shot her with my ray gun.
