No money at Spurs for players – again
Poch told the Evening Standard:
“I don’t have any money!” Asked if the club planned to spend, he repeated the gesture.
He added: “One thing you need to understand is that Tottenham built the training ground and one of the best stadiums in the world with our own resources.“Daniel is doing that with our own resources. It’s not like people came from I-don’t-know-where and said, ‘Here’s £500m for the facilities. And what does the manager want? Five players? Okay — we’re going to invest £500m more.’ It’s important to make that clear when we compare Spurs with another team.
“We’re doing everything with our own resources — that’s why it’s massive credit for Daniel. To be competitive like we are, it’s tough. It was tough for Arsenal in a different period.”
Much of this presser is spent defending having won nothing.
Quite how Mauricio can keep straight face when saying that Hotspur Way et al was paid for with ‘our own money’ beggars belief.
We’ve more debt than Manchester United.
No wonder Poch is joking about having no transfer funds – Levy’s blown it all on artisan food offerings.
Woodward must be licking his lips.
LVG be like “dont make the same mistake as me, Choosing man u over TOTTENHAM. Thats gotta be one of LVGs biggest regrets
Poch we know you love us and our club and won’t turn your back on us. Say nuttun cuz. Keep dem fools guessing and talking about you and TOTTENHAM.
Gaz look at this from Baldy’s point of view, it’s win-win from where he’s sitting. Man U come calling, Poch bites and wants to go, Levy’s off the hook, not my fault guv. They pay 30million in compensation, he gets Howe/Hughton/other in on less than half Pochs wages, happy days. New stadium glow once we get in. End of season colossal bids received for Tin tin, HK etc they want to go can’t pin that on Daniel, he pays off 300 mil plus of debt, lovely jubbly. Can ‘credibly’ spin that none of this was started by him and the meeja will chime in that well what did everyone expect, we always knew Poch and the players would go to ‘bigger’ clubs, Levy’s off the hook, major dint in the stadium debt, expectations lowered all round, the Spurs narrative can resume its natural course under ENIC. Job’s a good un as far as he’s concerned.
In the shorter term none of this bodes well for an already difficult enough visit to Everton this weekend. In the medium term this is he going/is he staying malarkey could unwittingly derail our whole season
A lot of this Poch to Utd is bluster whipped up by ex Utd players with Stam now the latest to get in on the Poch love bombing. I’m not so sure Utd would go for him when you have proven winners like Conte, Simeone, Alegri and Ancelloti that could be just as easily attainable.. If he does go surely that’s the calibre we should be looking if Daniel wants to keep the CL lolly flowing not Eddie bleedin Howe.
I think Poch will either stay or go. It’s a bit like Brexit really. Pochit
Looking at it, losing our manager, the projects hub and chief talker upper, before the stadium is even open would be surely game over for Levy. I’d like to think that their would be zero faith left but the cult is so deluded that I’m not certain. People still backing the already crumbling project after that hammer blow will be beyond help. The plane would have well and truly crashed into the mountain. How’s Kane going to see things? Let alone the out of contract lot. 2 years ago when I said we were a club on the brink and was mocked I could see ahead. The way ENIC have operated has taunted fate. Things could get very ugly very quick.
