Poch said: “It’s an important competition, the FA Cup.

I’m sure we will make some changes. But I would like to go far. We need to trust all our players.  It’s a collective and we must make everyone feel important and part of our success and failure.”

So another fingers crossed job then, that we can some make some class of impact against Villa using a lucky bag of players before being forced to introduce a few heavier hitters.

Steve Bruce is the Aston Villa manager. I like Bruce. He’s a decent type.

Their gaffer said: “We couldn’t have asked for a more difficult first game this weekend at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are one of the best teams in this country – and probably in Europe. But we have to hope we can play to our best and catch Spurs on an off day.”

What is Villa’s best these days?

Difficult to say, they can be currently found lurking in the Championship (in 12th spot) along with a whole host of other ghost-ships.

Wigan, Fulham, Birmingham, Norwich and QPR are just a few recent Premier League rejects drifting about to little good purpose in football’s second tier.

If we ‘throw’ this, I shall be most dischuffed.
