Frederico Fazio and Clinton Cards are off to Roma and Marseilles respectively.

A nation mourns.

Except it doesn’t.

Another shambolic waste of everyone’s time an money by Levy who yet again proves that he’s penny wise and pound foolish.

Clinton Cards was the perfect storm of a bad buy. Think of the eighties classic ‘Weird Science’ but instead of making the ideal woman, you’re making a rubbish footballer.

Shockingly poor showreel. ✔️ Stupidly intricate hair-cut ✔️ Fast ✔️ No Premier League experience ✔️ Bought to make money on ✔️ Mildly cretinous ✔️ Irresistibly inexpensive ✔️ Not very good at football ✔️

Fazio was actually a worse deal because he was bought as a ‘ready to go’ player. This one didn’t have the ‘ah, but he’s only 12’ line to hide behind.

How much has come back into the transfer coffers? Does it really matter, in the scheme of things? I mean if it is spent it’ll only be spent by the same maniac that bought these two.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to stop buying cheap and buying twice and just ‘lash out’ on a player that was going to do some good in a Spurs shirt before we all snuff it?

Apparently we cannot compete with the big boys. Because the FFP never really happened and the earth is flat.  Maybe if we stopped buying garbage and stopped selling to our rivals we could, like good physician, heal ourselves?

Dont really play anymore. Back in my more competitive days played year round. Then in a particular heated game had a guy drop kick me from behind. Got a whole bunch of metal put in to keep my leg together. But on the plus side dont need the weather channel to tell me when its gonna rain

There are the usual soundbites coming out of a few journos on Twitter:- “Poch wants to take his time in the market”
“They are wary of making the same mistakes as (N’Jie and Fazio).”
“Spurs are pursuing Pereira but there are complications…”

This seems like utter horse-sh*t. I’d wager that it’s Levy who wants to take his time, as usual, and that Poch would actually much rather have had his players in already. On the 2nd point, are we really that shite at scouting that we haven’t really got a scooby who to buy? Are we not watching players all the year round and drawing up a clear list of targets? I imagine other clubs are.
Lastly, it transpires that the ‘complications’ that are referred to are actually merely the fee and interest from another club. It is said that Pereira has a release clause of £22million. Does Daniel know how release clauses usually work…? We have £50+million in our pockets from the sale of Kyle Fackin Walker – most expensive defender ever!! Pay the money or watch Pereira pull on a Juve shirt.

Lost fitness and interest over the summer and faded away. Played Saturday and Sunday for another couple of years, but the spark had gone.

Where do you play Mike ?

    • AntSpurs July 16, 2017 at 3:21 pm

Alright Cams, the release clause is a starting point so £22M most likely won’t get him if others aren’t interested. If we are interested in the chap and he feels the same and we can get him for the right price, I’d say the wages could be an issue. We can’t pay him more than what we have and if he’s asking for £120k or so I reckon it’s a no go. Any player coming in will have to fall in line with the pecking order. Changing the salary structure to accommodate this is something else but something I don’t see happening for at least a couple of years.

  • Spiderneil July 16, 2017 at 2:20 pm

I’d be interested to know what the sale prices were, does anyone know?

      I’d imagine Levy does.

    • AntSpurs July 16, 2017 at 2:59 pm

I think around £10M for the two. £45M for Walkies and £20M for Bentaleb and Tommy + a few extra bits and pieces. Got to be pushing £80M.

      • AntSpurs July 16, 2017 at 3:04 pm

  • Still Nil Nil July 16, 2017 at 1:29 pm

This is my view on where Spurs are at for what it’s worth.
I’m not sure poch is a patsy.
I think he may be a bit frustrated with transfers if what’s said about levy is true regarding his feet dragging on sealing deals.
But I think poch doesn’t necessarily want massive signings, especially not if they are big time Charlie’s, which any player bought for huge money is gonna expect to walk straight into the first team, and I think as has been said, poch wants players signed to train, and if good enough, will then play.
With younger players, he wants hungry ones, willing to learn, willing to be moulded.
It does seem he doesn’t always get the players he wants, which will frustrate him.
But he has a first eleven.
It’s the bench that needs strengthing as I don’t think there’s many out there who would get straight into Spurs first eleven, Spurs over the past 2 seasons are the best first eleven in the prem.
    It’s what this season brings.
Last year was an improvement on the season before.
And that season was an improvement on the one before that.
The only way to improve this year on last is to win the prem.
Realistically, even if Spurs remained at the lane, does anybody think that would happen?
    It’s tough out there.
So if Spurs don’t win the prem this season regardless of the Wembley effect or if they remained at the lane, it will always feel like an anti climax.
So taking the prem out of the equation, Spurs really do need to win a pot this season.
That then would be a further step forward, and even with the current squad, they are good enough to win a trophy, if not the prem.
    And that’s a positive.
Again he’s getting rid of some dead weight.
And hopefully he’ll get a couple in that he can work with and mould into his game play.
I may be wrong, I usually am, but it’s worked so far, but not because of levy, but because of the coaching team and work ethic of the players.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a messi or bale or Ronaldo but Spurs aren’t in that game.
Maybe I’m a flat earther maybe I’m not, I don’t really know what that means in football terms but I have faith in poch despite levy.
Just hope levy doesn’t piss poch off that he leaves.
If he goes than it all disappears.
Then it’ll be a return of buying has beens in the hope they’ll pull a rabbit out of the bag rather than the year on year improvements poch has made.

    • Dusty July 16, 2017 at 1:57 pm

Agree 110%…I’m definitely on the same page as you Stil….Like last year Poch will get rid of the players he does not want ( Sissy & Nkudu will keep Wimmer as a back up if they can’t get Levy’s price for him) and he will more than likely get in Levy’s marquee signing Barklay and this youngster from Argentina. I also believe that Poch does not want other big signings that will not fit in with his playing style (eg Sissy). As much as we all want the Messis and Ronaldos of this world it ain’t going to happen. 🙂

      Does it matter?
We need cover for Kane, and someone yo tsle us to the next level, anything else is a waste of money and time
Sandro Ramirez cost Everton what exactly?

      • Horndog July 16, 2017 at 1:12 pm

It matters, especially Wimmer. As far as cover for Kane, I believe Janssen will step up this season. We won’t spend the money for anyone to take us to the next level. If we buy Barkley he will add strength but he is no world beater.

        • Al July 16, 2017 at 1:16 pm

Janssen won’t step up because, let’s be honest, he’s a carthorse. A big loveable carthorse, hard working and strong, but a carthorse nonetheless. I don’t see how now he has a season under his belt he’s going to develop the extra fifty yards of pace he clearly needs to succeed in the prem.

As for the article… spot on. And I enjoyed mildly cretinous.

  • Nick July 16, 2017 at 12:54 pm

Clinton was a Wenger type buy, searching for the next va va voom,French & fast but not a lot else.Fred was a modern day Ramon Vega without the snoze. Both as forgettable as what’s his name & thingy

      • baz July 16, 2017 at 2:42 pm

And for every jewel that Wenger unearthed he stumbled on just as many if not more duds.

  • Still Nil Nil July 16, 2017 at 12:35 pm

At least this time Spurs sold to a rival it was for a ridiculous amount of cash for a player who’s main ability is to run fast.
But at 27 that won’t last, they might get 1 season out of him before his value in both monetary and ability starts to wain.
Just think of Ian rush and Michael Owen for example, both superb up until 27, but once they hit 27-28 they started to be less effective.
Compare that to a teddy sheringham/ Glenn hoddle type player, where their footballing brains were amazing, those types go on til late 30’s.
It’s a shame Spurs didn’t flog njie and Fred to a rival.
I do remember one moment from each that was good, from njie, that pass from the right v shitty that helped defeat them 4-0 a couple of seasons back, and Fred did one moment where he was bobby moore’esque where somebody was bearing down on goal in the penalty area and he put a tackle in that was reminiscent of moores tackle on (pele I think it was) during the 1970 World Cup match where he walked away with the ball.
Unfortunately Fred also made a habit of being the oppositions best creator giving it straight to their centre forward on a whim.
And njie looked like a tweenie.

    • Caspurs♿️ July 16, 2017 at 12:52 pm

How ya doin Nilly, hope all is good bruv.
I don’t remember Rush being fast, just a goal hanger, but I could be wrong (it’s not unusual).

      • Still Nil Nil July 16, 2017 at 1:06 pm

Hello buddy, alls ok thanks, hope you is good.

Rush had pace that disappeared around 27, and he was a goal hanger, but he could only get as close to goal as the defence would allow as the offside rule was far more stringent than it is now, so if the defence stepped up he’d have been offside.
But cos defences were scared of his pace they dropped deep meaning he was closer to goal thus looked like a goal hanger.
