Paul Merson has been left impressed by how well Pedro Porro has been admitting that he was wrong about the Spaniard.
Porro joined Spurs last January, initially on loan from Sporting Lisbon which was turned into a permanent move in the summer.
He took a few games to settle but has been excellent for Spurs since then.
And he has proven quite a few doubters wrong, including Tim Sherwood and Paul Merson.
Merson admitted that he had underestimated Porro’s abilities.
Speaking with Sportskeeda about the Spanish full-back, Merson said:
“Pedro Porro was someone I thought would struggle in the Premier League, but he’s been outstanding too.”
Porro’s impact has been notable, especially going forward.
His offensive capabilities, including well-timed runs and a willingness to get forward, have added an extra dimension to Tottenham’s play.
Additionally, he has worked on improving his defensive skills, making him a more reliable presence at the back.
Playing alongside talents like Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero, Porro has contributed to a solid Tottenham defense.
The team has conceded only 8 goals in the Premier League, with only Manchester City having conceded fewer.
Spurs currently sit on the top of the table with a two point lead over City and Arsenal and have a chance to temporarily extend that lead to 5 points if they win the game against Palace tonight.
