Sissy has claimed he always wanted to sign for Tottenham and the reported move to Everton was never on the agenda.

So the former Gooner was wishing for something to happen, that was NEVER going to happen.

It had been widely reported the 27-year-old was set for Goodison Park before a late change of plans, with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri claiming they pulled out of a potential deal which could have jeopardised James McCarthy’s place in the team under new boss Ronald Koeman

Sissoko, though, insisted no such proposal was ever on the agenda as he remained in London waiting to finalise his switch to Spurs.

Speaking in L’Equipe, Sissoko said:

I never went to Everton. It’s funny

I was watching TV, and I saw that a deal had been done with Everton and that I had signed for them, but I was in London, waiting to sign my contract (with Tottenham).

It is true that Wednesday was rather quick, and it happened in the last hours, but the bottom line is this is done, I have finalised my transfer to Tottenham

I knew this club really wanted me. I trusted my agent to do the job from start to finish.

Sissoko, who played for France in their 3-1 friendly win over Italy in Bari on Thursday night, added: “I hope to have a good season and I am happy to be able to play in the Champions League.”

All of which will grate with one of the world’s daftest humans, Paul Merson.

Im quite surprised that nobody has mentioned Levy in the last few days (I know Spurstacus I just did) so Im wondering what most of you are thinking.
I guess you are not really 100% on Sissoko (MS I know you and everyone else didnt say that) but are you all not just waiting to see what happens before blaming Levy for this disaster (Im with Sissoko and Levy) Holding your breath maybe till the first game? (Sorry about the lack of punctuation Caspurs)
Poch on the other hand will get all the kudos if Sissoko does do well (Im with Poch and Sissoko and Levy)
The truth is are we all in this together or are you waiting for the first 10 minutes of the next game to knock Levy? ( Harry Im not talking about you) I am just waiting for Nut 61 to do a computer picture of Levy for my wall made out of those letters and symbols he does (Nut 61 Im not talking about you)

30 mill for a player is a lot. Is he the right player? We have to see don’t we. Rumours that Potch didnt want him i find hard to believe as it is not like Levy to blow cash on a 27 year old. The window is closed and we just have to hope for the best. We should have kept one Chadli i reckon. He was not a big star but he would have been useful off teh bench.

        • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:04 pm

          Poch picked him for sure

        • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:05 pm

I think the kids will be in the bench,we also can still Rowe upon the left wing and play Davies. We are ok

          • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:06 pm

            Rose nit Arthur Rowe

        • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:11 pm

I think Sissoko us tge right type if player for Pochs system because finding a creative player with power is not easy and much more expensive. Sissoko gives us enough……To me Eriksen and Lamela have to koick it up…..Eriksen for sure..he takes up a serioys spot tgat defending the lanes us not enough he MUST be tgat creative force. He has no excuses anymore (nobody to pass to etc)

    • Gloster1861 September 3, 2016 at 12:05 pm

      LEVY OUTstanding.

I think Sissoko is Poch’s choice (not his first choice) as there is no reason not to. Therefore it follows that Levy performed his duty as chairman to back his manager. No criticism.

      • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:06 pm

Perfect but did I need to prompt?

        • Gloster1861 September 3, 2016 at 12:09 pm

It shouldn’t be about Levy. A good chairman should melt into the shadows and let his manager do his stuff. If Levy is the story something is going wrong.

          • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:13 pm

Going wrong? Like Levy IS the problem?
No..the style of the owner means nowt..He is good if he produces. Then we go to the past versus the future argument.

    • Ronan September 3, 2016 at 12:27 pm

It’s an extraordinary buy in the context of the financial constraints Levy is now operating under, Ron.

I didn’t realise quite how fine a balancing act he faced in order to keep us competitive while the stadium is being built until I read this article posted by North stand nutter the other day. (As NSN said, it is mandatory reading if you want to understand how difficult it’s now going to be for the next few years to stay in touch with the plutocracy).

      https://thespursreport.wordpress.com/2016/09/01/the-balancing-act-can-spurs-find-a-way-to-remain-competitive-through-the-stadium-construction-phase/

It goes against what I’d long believed, but Levy deserves respect for the job he’s doing given he’s getting a bare minimum of financial assistance from the Bahamas.

It’s highly doubtful we’ll see another £30m splurged on a single player now for a good number of years, so whether it was wise to push the boat out so far for this particular guy is questionable. But the fact Levy was prepared to take the risk in order to help us stay at the top table is commendable.

From here, it’s all in Poch’s hands.

            • McG ⚽⚽ September 3, 2016 at 10:55 am

Our England problems lay firmly with the FA & their choice of managers. Hoddle, El Tel, it can be done & we can play well. I would include Bobby Robson, but that was more luck than judgement on the FA’s behalf.

              • BabaSpurs? September 3, 2016 at 10:59 am

Sam’s cute, turned over quite a few of the big boys as a manager. I think he’ll have the balls to go for it, more so than Sven & Woy etc. We’ll see soon enough, but I think he’ll play to our strengths, not try & over complicate. His own man too, may welljust turn out to be a breath of frest air.

I have a Note 6 – it is the first smart phone I have ever been happy with. Every phone I have ever bought works great for a few weeks and then starts to run slower and slower and the battery quickly degrades until you have to charge it every few hours. My Note 6 is a year old and is still as fast, the battery is still as strong, as when I bought it.

      • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 1:22 am

Thanks Ron! It is great to see you are still active and in great spirits as always. I can always count on you and every one on this board to put a smile on my face. I have very misguided to try and hide from everything Spurs this summer, the camaraderie and great dialogue here always greatly outweighs the disappointment that Levy throws our way.

      • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:26 am

Its the time to engage in it. Remember energy is always the same its neither good or bad and turning it into something is the chalkenge however hard it is.
I have a friend whoes brother in Law’s first wife keft him and he lost his business around the same time. He never has done anything physical so he was depressed but started doing some activities and then he took up windsurfing then paragliding..then parachuting, sky diving and he dived with 50 others out of a plane iver the North Pole..then started climbing mountains…its not for me but energy is energy and its sacred.Use it well

        Godfather Part II
        Raging Bull
        The Mission
        King of Comedy
        The Deer Hunter
        Analyze This

        • Gloster1861 September 3, 2016 at 12:05 am

The King of Comedy stands out as he played an unusual character against type brilliantly.

His transvestite pirate in Stardust was good for the same reason.

          • Ronwol196061 September 3, 2016 at 12:09 am

                  • Brooklyn Hotspur September 3, 2016 at 2:41 am

Quite frankly you can’t go wrong with a DeNiro or Terry Gilliam movie…and when together (even as a cameo)…superb! Anyone who wants to see Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges at their finest, simply MUST, watch The Fisher King!

        • TheCincinnatiYid September 3, 2016 at 1:08 am

Raging Bull and The Deer Hunter certainly, but what about Mean Streets?

          • Brooklyn Hotspur September 3, 2016 at 2:55 am

Oh man, Christopher Walken with DeNiro in The Deer Hunter…amazing. Mean Streets by Scorsese’s own admission was the warm up for Goodfellas. It’s a good film and featured some groundbreaking continuous tracking shots using a steady-cam (can’t beat 12 Angry Men for an opening sequence single shot though) but isn’t anywhere near as polished as Goodfellas.

Having lived on the street in Brooklyn made famous from Sergio Leone’s, Once Upon A Time In America, that’s a strong favorite. Heat which finally saw him alongside Al Pacino isn’t too shabby. But even films like Wag The Dog and Awakenings are great…he just doesn’t really make bad movies.

I hope everyone has had a great summer. It has been a very rough summer for me, lots of family issues (had to sell my dream home and am now living in my sister inlaws basement in Colorado) – I didnt think I could take the disappointment of another transfer window so have been in hiding. Now that I am coming up for air, I am wishing I hadnt.

We have really signed Sissoko? The player I told my Newcastle friends last season made Tom Huddlestone look as energetic as Kante? The worst rated regularly starting midfielder in the PL last season (according to Squawka)?

And we paid the same fee for him that ManUtd paid for Mkhitarian (who was completely unstoppable last weekend)?

HH – your “Sissoko is another Ade” title could not be more spot on. Although, Ade could be motivated to play hard for a few matches. With Sissoko, you are lucky to get 5-10 minutes in one match out of ten. At least having Sissoko in the squad will make Wanyama look like a decent signing.

    • Caspurs♿️ September 2, 2016 at 11:25 pm

Sorry to hear life’s a bit crap at the moment DT, keep the faith bud, theres always light at the end of the tunnel, just some tunnels are longer than others. Spurs will cheer you up soon enough. ?

      • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:33 pm

Thanks Cas! How is life for you? Sometimes you have to take a few steps back to open a path for a better future, I never lose faith, and will never stop working my tail off to get ahead.

On the Spurs end, I am confident our play will pick up when Dembele returns. He is just one player, but I liken him to Kante, he is so good at reading the opponents attacks and shutting them down up the pitch. Without him, Lamela and Eriksen have had to drop really deep and defend far too much this season.

        • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 11:41 pm

Daytripper, where in Colorado are you?

          • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:43 pm

Hi Horndog. I am up in Fort Collins. My job is in Downtown Denver, but I only have to do the hour long trip into the office once a week thankfully.

            • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 11:48 pm

Fairly close by. Gering, NE here

              • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:54 pm

That isnt too far away. How on earth did you end up out in the middle of nowhere? Please tell me winters arent going to be as bad as I’m fearing they will be. The lowest temperature I have ever experienced was 13 degrees farenheit and that was 20 years ago when I lived in Seattle.

                • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 11:57 pm

Your proximity to the Front Range makes your area a little more volatile. Not bad up here. I retired here, great community, affordable and family got us here. Coincidentally I was born and raised in Seattle. All schooling there thru college.

                  • daytripper September 3, 2016 at 12:09 am

I have heard a lot of good things about the Scottsbluff area. It sounds very similar to the small town, Warner Robins, where I lived in GA. Down to earth, thoughtful, honest/trustworthy people everywhere. Great, safe place to raise kids. And no traffic! We never were going to afford a home in Seattle, the quality schools were in areas we could never afford rents in, and I was spending 12-15 hours a week commuting and could never get home in time to coach my kids baseball and soccer (let alone go to games).

                    • Horndog September 3, 2016 at 12:19 am

I could never live there again. My brother lives on Bainbridge Island. When we visit we never leave the island.

            • Baz September 2, 2016 at 11:50 pm

I hope you have an upturn in your fortunes in the near future Daytripper

              • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:56 pm

Thanks Baz! We have only been here three weeks but things are really looking up. Healthcare here is so much better than it was back in Georgia. My wife’s first appointment was two weeks ago, and the doctor actually spent 90 minutes dedicated with her. That is more time with a doctor than I have had combined in my entire life and I never miss my annual physicals.

                • Baz September 3, 2016 at 12:06 am

90 minutesand not for a surgical procedure, that’s a good sign.

                  • daytripper September 3, 2016 at 12:13 am

No surgery. Just asking questions about all of her diagnosis (how do you say that plural, lol) and symptoms and lots of shaking his head. She was diagnosed with Lupus and Psoriatic Arthritis a few years ago and this doctor is 100% convinced there is no way she could have lupus and he’s even doubting the arthritis. All of her really bad problems this summer appear to be caused by all the meds the doctors in GA have put her on.

                    • Horndog September 3, 2016 at 12:22 am

My fathers had rheumatoid arthritis and when he moved from the Northwest to Ft. Collins (more arid area) his symptoms eased considerably. I hope the same takes place for your wife.

    • Kev September 2, 2016 at 11:28 pm

newcastle didn’t offer enough to motivate their players. Pardew, Schteve and Carver were turd and their fans hate the owners often making it was an aggressive unsavoury atmosphere there. Look how they treated Collocini.

Judge him on how Poch gets him playing not at what happened at that tinpot clown club.

      • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:50 pm

Hi Kev – good point, but they did have players like Tiote and Wiljnaldum, who managed to pour their hearts out every match despite the shit management and owner. If you cant get motivated by having 50,000 fans cheering you on every other week, or from your 60k+/week paychecks, you need your head examined IMO.

        • Baz September 3, 2016 at 12:08 am

The same as what Woy did to our boys this summer. Not a sexy signing but he might just work out for us.

    • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 11:34 pm

Very sorry to hear of your upheavals…

It’s a bizarre signing. I sincerely hope he decides to show the world what they are missing at The Lane. My concern is that this is how Adebayor was always pitched/sold as.

I’d prefer that we’d signed a player how was on the way up, not on the way to his next enhanced valuation.

      • daytripper September 2, 2016 at 11:41 pm

Thanks HH! On the positive side, Colorado is absolutely stunning – the weather could not be more perfect (25-27 for highs every day and no humidity).

Its hard not to see a train wreck coming here. You have a player notorious for not giving his all, playing for a manager who wants/demands 100% from every player 100% of the time – not just in matches but in practice too.

I heard a rumour on NBC here in the States, that this was entirely Levy’s doing and possibly not something Poch wanted. Has there been any news on that there in London?

        • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 11:47 pm

    • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 11:12 pm

Treacle running is a rather grim but very accurate description.

My money is on the situation being exacerbated by him scoring…

        • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 10:59 pm

That’s why I didn’t post any piffle for a while.

    • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 11:01 pm

If you make a booking I probably get an extra 15p.

      • OnOurWayToWembley September 2, 2016 at 11:03 pm

Aha it all becomes clear . Ok I’ll now get those WWE pics my sons been waiting for

      • BabaSpurs? September 2, 2016 at 11:09 pm

Fakinel, I reckon you’re the one who needs an agent. And i thought Levy was a tight wad. For what it’s worth, that’s 15p for the cause, don’t blow it all at once.

        • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 11:35 pm

          I’m a huge blower.

  • BabaSpurs? September 2, 2016 at 10:34 pm

I’ve got hotels.com ads plastered over half the piece H wrote. Good thing there’s the comments section then.

    • Caspurs♿️ September 2, 2016 at 10:35 pm

      hotels.com, hotels.com, hotels.com.

      • BabaSpurs? September 2, 2016 at 10:55 pm

Got a great deal on a hotel in Hong Kong in October though. Heh heh.

        • OnOurWayToWembley September 2, 2016 at 10:59 pm

And I’m starting with Uber on Monday and I don’t have a license

  • Gus September 2, 2016 at 10:31 pm

He’s a gooner, surely that explains everything?

  • glenn September 2, 2016 at 10:31 pm

This is why Sky will never get any money off of me as they have too many tw@ts like ‘woolwich whitelines’ above spouting their diatribe and bias!

  • Ginaza September 2, 2016 at 10:22 pm

He’s just gagging for some bugle.

    • Harry Hotspur September 2, 2016 at 10:33 pm

      Clucking!

  • Bert Simpkins September 2, 2016 at 10:11 pm

Merson is true to himself and never influenced by proper grammar

    • OnOurWayToWembley September 2, 2016 at 10:18 pm

Thats one way of looking at him

      • OnOurWayToWembley September 2, 2016 at 10:39 pm

Another way is ; he’s full of shit, his team is shit , he acts like a shit, his pundetrys shit and he’s an all round shit . Just about covers it …and exhale

  • Caspurs♿️ September 2, 2016 at 10:05 pm

I wonder what that little twats comment was when willian went to the racists?

  • Maccar September 2, 2016 at 9:59 pm

Merson is as tick as to short ones… I heard him say twice yesterday, on the subject of Jack wheelchair muted move to Italy, “out of mind out of sight” twice I ask you

    • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 10:01 pm

What goes down must go up

    • Caspurs♿️ September 2, 2016 at 10:02 pm

He does tick off a lot of people it must be said.

    • Spurstacus ? September 2, 2016 at 10:08 pm

      Oh, the irony.

    • 61SpursNut? September 2, 2016 at 10:46 pm

      Haha! You said “muted”.

      • 61SpursNut? September 2, 2016 at 10:51 pm

        … and “tick”
        … and “to”
… not that I’m checkin’ or anyfink.

But Merson is still at the bottom of the class.

        • MysteriousStranger September 3, 2016 at 6:59 am

          Twice twice…

  • Hhhhhh September 2, 2016 at 9:59 pm

    Fucking coke head

  • Pj September 2, 2016 at 9:53 pm

    Merson is a tool.

    • BWSpur September 2, 2016 at 9:56 pm

That’s the nicest thing I’ve ever heard anyone say about him…

    • Baz September 2, 2016 at 9:59 pm

      He is special is Merson

    • Brooklyn Hotspur September 3, 2016 at 2:37 am

On so many levels that he’s the Swiss f*cking Army Knife of tools!

  • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 9:50 pm

We don’t get Merson on US television so I can only believe what I read on this site. This site always bares the truth, sort of.

    • Horndog September 2, 2016 at 9:56 pm

      ?

    • BWSpur September 2, 2016 at 9:57 pm

      We couldn’t handle the truth

      • OnOurWayToWembley September 2, 2016 at 10:31 pm

        And isnt that the truth

    • Brooklyn Hotspur September 3, 2016 at 12:58 am

Yeah…we have that footballing genius Robbie Mustoe. Although we didn’t exactly do ourselves any favors during the Liverpool game I still couldn’t believe his over the top bashing of Spus. His “that’s the worst I’ve seen Spurs play under Poch” comment proves pundits these days can barley remember 2-3 games back.

      • Horndog September 3, 2016 at 1:04 am

        I do like Rebecca Lowe?

        • Brooklyn Hotspur September 3, 2016 at 1:06 am

So THAT’s why your called Horndog…the penny finally drops ? I’m with you ? Even when pregnant she looked delicious.
