Pansies Threaten Jam Tomorrow

By The Boy -

Tonight we kiss goodbye to the Interlull. I’m seeing it off with some loose change on a Polish win.

How could anyone possibly wish ill upon a nation that exports into our very neighbourhoods all manner of magnificent pickled goods, peanut flavour Flips and of course, bacon flavour pretzel sticks? How could you?

Here’s hoping 18,000 of these good people will cheer my 28/1 punt on a 1-2 bet into an actual final score, as well as drown out the imbecilic “England Band” and drown out their “doo dooo d’ doo d’d’doo doo ” tinnitus.

So to business.

Cynics will be inclined to dismiss it as “jam tomorrow” talk, Bobby Soldier and Erik Lamela have been talking to the press. Bobby interviewed in a Spurs newsletter said:

The difference between the game in England and Spain is that it is a lot more physical here, more challenges and the play is broken up more. I’ve joined a great club with a lot of great players.

As a group, including the new players, we are looking to improve and our objective is to get Spurs to where the club belongs.

I have come here as a striker to score goals. I always try to achieve more goals each season, so that will be my aim – to score as many goals as I can for Spurs and try to get us into the Champions League where we deserve to be, it’s not so fluid so I will have to adapt to play like that, which I’m trying to do for my team-mates.

I’m trying to score more goals in open play. Every game is very hard in the Premier League.’

Lamela’s desire to feature for Argentina in a World Cup year is only a positive thing. He’s not going to be doing his cause any favours with 15 minute cameos. Erik told Clarin.com:

I’m excited to play and show why it is that the coach trusted me to come. It is true that Alexander came to me when I was in Rome, but now I’m playing in England and I have to adapt quickly . English football is more physical and not as tactical as Italian and that I talk to my peers. I know that to maintain a place in the team I have to standout on my team.”

I’ve no truck with “season defining judgements” on any of our new signings – especially just 7 games into a season. It’s ridiculous.

Whilst modern football might well be rubbish, what possible benefit to anyone is shouting “he’s toss!“so early on?

To do so, screams more about the deep routed insecurities of those shouting.

Both lads are mustard. In the immortal words of Arthur Daley, “stand on me.”
