Defeat for Tottenham will see them eliminated from the Champions League. They’ve lost two of their last three home games in the competition.

Son Heung-min has played more Champions League games than any other Tottenham player (17). He’s not scored in his last four games in the competition – he’s never gone five in a row without a goal for Spurs.

Three of Inter’s five Champions League goals this season have been scored in the 85th minute or later, including both against Tottenham on match day one.

This will be Inter Milan’s first competitive match at Wembley Stadium. Italian sides have won four of their five visits to the ground (Milan v Benfica 1963 European Cup final, Parma v Royal Antwerp 1993 Cup Winners’ Cup final, Fiorentina v Arsenal 1999-00 Champions League and Juventus v Spurs 2017-18 Champions League).

Inter have never kept a clean sheet in their five previous meetings with Spurs in all comps, though they’ve only failed to score once (W3 D0 L2).

Six of Tottenham’s seven Champions League goals this season have been scored in the second half of games.

The home side has won all five previous meetings between Tottenham and Inter Milan (2 for Tottenham, 3 for Inter).

I see your comments about Kane and they are valid. It doesn’t stop a lot of defenders going right through him from behind, almost invariably never getting booked. Also he never seems to react.
I said earlier in the season when he really looked tired and slow that Poch should have insisted he take a complete break from football. It will probably be the same next summer with the Nations League.Harry insists that he’s not in trouble but Poch’s job is to see he doesn’t burn out.
Ffs Levy pay the money for a backup for Harry and tie down Toby,Jan and Christian to new contracts. If you don’t it would be a serious dereliction of duty and you will see them walk.

Barca’s two games before and after us are Espanol and Lavante both in the top half of the table.Could they field a second 11 against us with nothing to play for.

    • Harry Hotspur November 29, 2018 at 11:22 am

The odds of this happening are only visible with a space telescope

  • Cabspur November 29, 2018 at 10:03 am

Playing Leicester at 7.45pm on the Saturday before the Barca game ,well that will improve our flip Premier league twit

  • Tappaspur November 29, 2018 at 8:28 am

We’ve got it in us to beat any team in any backyard. No fear coz we dare

  • Finn November 29, 2018 at 7:42 am

A solid victory, a win on the weekend would really see us with our “serious face” on!

I want tho’ to take a moment to ask a question which I’m pitching with tough love in mind. I so admire the boy for all his dedication, ability, his not being a tattooed chav etc. But when are we going to stop making excuses for Harry Kane?

The commentators, the blogs, the papers ……. right now everyone simply blanks out the lost challenges, the walking pace off the ball, the lack of menace when closing down, the lack of real sharpness or speed, the ease at which he is marked, the missed chances some of which are real sitters, the physical presence, etc, etc.

When he loses a challenge, commentators say stuff like, “He lost out on that one, but he’s so strong in those situations”…… Really? Because his strength is not really counting for that much since he’s losing ‘most’ of them!

We keep saying he looks “…………a bit tired”, when we actually mean he looks completely buggered!

Is it his success? He gets very closely marked, his space is cut right down, he’s kicked and elbowed and is generally neutralised wherever possible. But he did OK last year despite that. Is he getting slower with age (pro-football context)? Maybe, but he’ll also be getting stronger by the same logic.

Does Poch’s extra training work as well once you hit a certain age? It was clearly awesome when all these guys were younger; we could see it and it was great through winter when we powered through fixtures. But from having the stingiest defence we are now letting a lot through, from scoring for fun we are now grinding out 1-0’s.

His finishing too is less powerful; sure they all count, but he scrambles a few, get deflections (and yes OK, he makes his own luck), but he’s not powering shots in, not driving past defenders like they’re not there, moving past defenders to attack crosses. We’ve criticised crossing this year, but Harry needs to attack these not wait behind defenders hoping cross’ll drop onto his head.

Sadly I don’t have answers and I don’t want to dampen spirits following a really good result, but I think its time we stopped being blinkered about Harry Kane and admit that right now and for some time apart from odd glimpses in his odd waking moments, he’s been at best largely ineffectual and at worst, pure pants!

    • Only Me November 29, 2018 at 9:17 am

I know what you mean about Kane, but as a player gets better, defenders start to adapt, they realised how they marked him last year didn’t work, so they have adapted. He is now finding it harder. If you watch him you will realise defenders basically leave him alone at the half way line and only worry about him close to goal. This probably makes him look more tired as the defenders are only doing half the work. This also means that when he is 20-25yrds out facing goal, he is also facing defenders, but last year he had in those positions he had defenders to the side of him and sight of goal. This means his goals are more poachers now as 5yrds movement relies on reading the game, and he is simply better than most defenders at doing that.

Kind of a rough game to watch, but the move for the goal was lovely. Glad Son and Eriksen got a bit of rest, though I wonder when Kane’s going to get a breather. He’s going to burn out if we don’t get him some cover, going to need a rest after this weekend before the heavy schedule of the holiday season arrives. Sissoko with another solid performance, and what a deft smart layoff by Dele for the goal. Davies looking like he remembered how to make those barnstorming runs he used to make, even if they weren’t productive this time, more of that please. Kane with some nice holdup/outlet play, and great to see VerDonkey back even if he missed a gimme header. Onward and upward.

  • dilly November 28, 2018 at 10:29 pm

Feel free to condemn my negativity but we won ugly minus that Chelski zippy performance!
    – By replacing the ineffective Moura and Lamella surely either Eriksen and Son ought to have been selected from the start or brought on at HT?
    – Kane lacks support.
    – Despite Winks solid performance we are devoid of creativity and lack pace and width down the flanks.
    – Well done Sissoko!!

    • dilly November 28, 2018 at 10:36 pm

Seen enough of Moura to suggest I would offload him in the summer.

      • dilly November 28, 2018 at 10:37 pm

        Ah that Lamela stamp!

        • MrChickenHead November 28, 2018 at 10:39 pm

He had a bad game alright. Both feet off the ground, can they take it further?

          • dilly November 28, 2018 at 10:41 pm

Perhaps Lamela already suffers delusions of grandeur with his dibbling that he is Messi in disguise!!

            • dilly November 28, 2018 at 10:41 pm

              *dribbling

    • East Stand November 28, 2018 at 10:56 pm

It’s a shame that your negativity generally seems to centre around Spurs, while you spend considerable time lauding the the likes of Liverpool, who incidentally have now lost all of their Champions League group away games.

Seeing as anyone is free to condemn your negativity then I will.

The performance against Cheats was stunning, however every game is different and carving out chances against a top Italian team is never easy, (Inter are second in Serie A) but our stats over the 90 mins were ok and guess what? We won…

      • dilly November 28, 2018 at 11:05 pm

Yes we won and generally dominated possession but IMO it was not a vintage performance by any figment of the imagination.

    • Paddio November 28, 2018 at 11:08 pm

We have a best 11ish And a front 4 that we have nothing really to swap out for.
Kane,Ali,Sonny and Eriksen our only top option when counts.
Moura & lamela are the ones that give a glimmer but never truly step up consistently bit like trying to make out sissoko performances are better than they really are.

  • Sid Trotter November 28, 2018 at 10:04 pm

I think this was a Levy masterclass ……. he told me to say that, or Harold did, one of the two

    Yes, shoot the messenger

  • Accy November 28, 2018 at 10:03 pm

Llorente was a clever purchase, wasn’t he.

The opposition think that we might play him, but a-ha, we fooled you, and didn’t…

    • Lilywhite without the II November 28, 2018 at 10:05 pm

hehe…I noticed they brought on a defender when 1-0 down expecting him to come on…defending the loss..!

        That’s Italian teams for you.

  • Tappaspur November 28, 2018 at 10:01 pm

End of November. Doing well in the league and in all three cups. Something’s being done right and has nothing to do with the suits. Poch. his staff and the squad I bow down to you. Much respect.

  • Eddie November 28, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Barca are through nothing to play for.We could do it if we can repeat our Chav performance.

  • Lilywhite without the II November 28, 2018 at 9:57 pm

    good to have Jan back

    • paul November 28, 2018 at 9:58 pm

2 months out, first match back, pure class.

we won’t sign anyone in Jan. Poch will leave.

      • Lilywhite without the II November 28, 2018 at 9:59 pm

  • Sid Trotter November 28, 2018 at 9:55 pm

    • Limerick AL. November 28, 2018 at 9:56 pm

      Yes. and No.

      • Sid Trotter November 28, 2018 at 9:56 pm

        Oh

        • Cabspur November 28, 2018 at 10:03 pm

We have to match or better inters result against psv, so tough ask..

          • Spurswizard November 29, 2018 at 12:10 am

If we beat Barca we’re through, score lines irrelevant as it goes down to head to head and we beat inter head to head.

            That’s what I thought

  • Mad Carew November 28, 2018 at 9:54 pm

3 players booked, can’t play against Barcelona, no problem we’ll beat them with Eight !

  • Sid Trotter November 28, 2018 at 9:52 pm

We won. We don’t need new signings. Just cheese, gay cheese and waffles
