Spurs at ‘home’ to Real Madrid it is folks. Wembley Stadium. The Champions League. Will Geoff Shreeves plus one other Sky monkey helicopter into the stadium, I wonder? If they do, I beseech thee, thank of the pilot and his family. The emergency service personnel who would have to shovel it all up. Do not let ill thought cloud your minds.

Los Blancos land as favourites. We’re 11/5 and the other lot 11/10. The draw is 11/4.

Real Madrid’s form is monster. They are unbeaten in their last 30 Champions League group games (W22 D8), their last defeat dating back to October 2012 away against Dortmund.

The prices generally don’t allow for retirement unless you look very hard. I love Spurs to win by 1 goal, which 4/1, by 2 goals is 9/1.

For those looking for an extra morsel of doom n’ gloom, Spurs have never won at home in European competition versus Spanish opposition.

Good job we’re playing at Wembley then, eh?!

Was watching BEIN Champions League show of last nights games(or in my case this mornings ) & they had Ruud Guillet saying you would hope that Spurs win because they are the team you like to watch these days because of the style of game they play ????? Never would have thought that !!!!

I’m curious to know where all this bottomless faith in Poch comes from?

He fucked Southampton into outer space without a moment’s hesitation. A club where he developed youth players…

I can’t for he life of me see any reason other than blind hope to suggest he’d stay at Spurs forever come what may.

    • Spurs est_1882 November 1, 2017 at 11:49 am

I wouldn’t quite go that far, but I do agree. Although I don’t think real would be his destination, United or similar could be. A club willing to develop a legacy rather than instant success, but with bucket loads of money. A few seasons where Levy does not buy the superstars to take us to the next step, and few 2nds when 1sts were so close, and the mental impact is anyones guess.

      • legendary greavesy November 1, 2017 at 12:10 pm

AS I have previously written I believe Poch has bought into the Levy business model and they are working as a team which on face value is a strong principle of Poch’s, I don’t think for one second that Levy has put any demand on Poch to win the Title or Champions league,i believe that is all down to Poch’s ability with the players. I agree that if Levy doesn’t stay straight with the business model especially after the new stadium is full and brimming then Poch might look elsewhere very quickly

He left Southampton on a matter of principle. He openly said that if they got rid of Nicola Cortese he would walk. They did and he was as good as his word.

Wow, and I thought Mother Theresa had already died.

    • legendary greavesy November 1, 2017 at 11:58 am

Not forever H but he might surprise us and stay for another 5 years !

      • Harry Hotspur November 1, 2017 at 12:27 pm

He’ll want too win something. That’s the discussion in full. Unlike some of our more deluded fans, he’s not going to be happy talking about ‘building’ in another ten years. He’ll be long gone.

        • SpurAndy 🍒π November 1, 2017 at 12:34 pm

Personally I reckon 3 years max unless we become regular pot winners.

          • Harry Hotspur November 1, 2017 at 12:54 pm

Spot on. To use Daniel’s word, any longer period would not be ‘sustainable’ for the Argentinian.

        • BERNARD November 1, 2017 at 1:51 pm

if he wants to win something he had better stop messing about with the cup ties and play our best 11

Pochettino would have to be a complete idiot to throw away what he’s spent the last three years building here. He wouldn’t last 10 minutes at Madrid and he knows it.

Intended as a response to cavey below.

Money can make people do stupid things…lets not forget, some people in the sport believe you are nothing without silverware, lets hope Poch is not the same.

      • UnkleTaff November 1, 2017 at 11:37 am

Much like Harry Kane, he is quite clearly not motivated by money. He’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime by Daniel Levy. I doubt there’s any other club in Europe with the facilities that we have that would allow him to run the club pretty much exactly as he wants it.

He’s here for the duration, of that I have absolutely no doubt.

I cant see him going and for RM to make that decision they would have to change their philosophy completely. The Galacticos would be nore more.It will all be about tactics and youth

  • UnkleTaff November 1, 2017 at 11:23 am

Whilst I don’t think tonight’s result will matter much in the overall scheme of things, I’d be disappointed if we lost tonight as Madrid are clearly going backwards fast under Zidane. Their CL form might be good but their domestic form has more than a few cracks in it.

I’d like to see us hammer home a big nail in Zidane’s inevitable coffin.

    • caveman November 1, 2017 at 11:25 am

And have them make Pochettino an offer he cannot refuse.

      • Spurs est_1882 November 1, 2017 at 11:25 am

        just what I was thinking.

      • Spurs est_1882 November 1, 2017 at 11:26 am

I just hope Poch is smart enough to see Real don’t want a manager to build something, they want a manager to babysit superstars and do what he is told.

        • caveman November 1, 2017 at 11:28 am

I think he knows that. Anyway he likes young players he can mould, not prima donnas.

    • ronwol196061 November 1, 2017 at 11:25 am

Id go for the draw Taff and they can have Zidane for a few more years

  • Spurs est_1882 November 1, 2017 at 11:21 am

In terms of the CL, we don’t need to win this, in terms of mentatlity though, I think we need to be losing and fight back to a draw, or win it. Our guys need to start fighting again. As to what the result will be, knowing a draw will suit both teams I am not sure we are going to see either team go gung-ho, so if there is a winner, it will be a slim margin. I think we have a fair shout, at the end of the day, what is history worth when it comes to the day of the game?

  • ronwol196061 November 1, 2017 at 11:09 am

WE dont need to win this.We have to give a good account of ourselves mostly.Keeping our heads high and bayonets sharpened we can still go through and continue the assault on the title.
A draw is a good result and playing coherently and tough at the same time would bring more confidence.
While we hat to see silly mistakes costing goals, thats not the most important thing. The most important thing is to play well. You get some breaks you lose some breaks, that happens. Its about being good enough to win tahts important.

  • ronwol196061 November 1, 2017 at 11:03 am

I think the way Madrid have played lately its maybe best to continue to play the counter. They are probably looking to attack us and make up for the last loss and draw and we really are under less pressure than they are generally.Stock up in defence and then hit them on the counter is the way to go I think. Again it will be Dele and Eriksen’s trsonsibility to show how good they think they are.If they do well,we will do well

It’s goner be a classic 3-1 but not sure who to as I used blotting paper , now I can’t read it 😡
