Never Started A Single Game

Clinton Njie has joined Marseille on a permanent deal from Tottenham.

The Cameroon forward was on loan with the Ligue 1 club last season, having failed to secure a regular role at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old did not start a single Premier League game for Spurs, making eight substitute appearances after arriving from Lyon in a deal reportedly worth more than £8million.

After returning to France he scored four times in 22 outings for OM.

Tottenham tweeted: “We have reached agreement with @OM_Officiel for the permanent transfer of Clinton Njie. We wish Clinton all the best for the future.”

I think with Mr Levy, its more like the HP agreement!

All transfers are a gamble, sometimes you take a chance on buying them young other times you bring in experience but not the best due to injuries. I think this weekend Spurs transfers typify this approach. If you look at all the premier teams and their transfer records we are no better or worse than most. You pay your money and take a chance! It must drive Chairmen who come from industry man, unless they have more money than sense.

Quite an interesting piece in the Guardian about ignoring home grown talent and buying a £40m Ligue 1 player. One interesting stat is that the two highest PL to PL transfers this summer were both let go as youngsters by Man United and Chelsea.

Only centre half we should be looking at is Sanchez from Ajax
    An absolute beast!

    • marsinho July 16, 2017 at 5:26 pm

levy wont pay he’s wage so it’s the argy or mawson for now.

      • baz July 16, 2017 at 5:37 pm

Ajax wages are well within the Tottenham pay structure

        • Caspurs♿️ July 16, 2017 at 5:43 pm

Eggzackerly Baz, if we couldn’t match Ajax’s wage structure I’d be afraid, very afraid…

          • baz July 16, 2017 at 6:13 pm

We could take their best for £20k a week and keep em on that for a few seasons. That’s the Enic way

  • Caspurs♿️ July 16, 2017 at 5:20 pm

    Sorry Taff, Mawson says no..

    • UnkleTaff July 16, 2017 at 5:20 pm

      So did Bale…

      • UnkleTaff July 16, 2017 at 5:21 pm

I reckon we’ll sign one of Foyth or Mawson — but not both.

        • Caspurs♿️ July 16, 2017 at 5:22 pm

Then it’ll DEFINITELY be the former. 💰

  • UnkleTaff July 16, 2017 at 5:11 pm

At the start of the transfer window I thought that £30m for a player entering the last year of his contract was too much of a price to pay.

Now it’s looking like something of a bargain.

No prizes for guessing who I’m talking about.

    Make it happen, Daniel.

  • Camus July 16, 2017 at 5:05 pm

The perennial shifting of deadwood merry-go-round is tedious. I get that not every transfer works out but a fair number of the players brought in under Poch have barely had a run-out which suggests they were players he had no real interest in buying in the first place – Fabio, Stambouli, N’Jie, N’Koudou – even Sissoko never started matches… We’ve had some big wins buying cheap, like Dier and Alli, but on the whole the exercise appears to be counter-productive.

    • The Tottinghams July 16, 2017 at 5:11 pm

Dier & Alli are great examples……of Levy getting lucky. This can’t be a recruitment policy. Levy’s investment policy isn’t “take money to casino & bet on 32 red”! Gambling isn’t a prudent financial strategy. So why does he gamble on recruiting players!!!????

I respect you & your opinions but that one is bollocks. He isn’t consistently lucky. Quite the opposite

      • caveman July 16, 2017 at 5:31 pm

He doesn’t gamble on recruiting players, that’s just gossip bullshit. The scouts recommend players to the club and Poch has a say on whether or not they are recruited. You cannot blame Leechy for everything.

        • The Tottinghams July 16, 2017 at 5:45 pm

Wish that everything you wrote there was true. Unfortunately I don’t believe that is what happens. What does everyone else think?

    More of the same:

I know there is a load of shit spouted around transfers this time of year but this looks typical Levy

    Foyth to Spurs –
    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/10950795/tottenham-close-in-on-young-argentina-defender-juan-foyth

Please let this be bullshit. He may be great, but in 8 years time. For now he will be straight in the reserve squad! Have a little look. I know YouTube is mostly unreliable but PFFFFFFF

      • The Tottinghams July 16, 2017 at 5:05 pm

I just don’t understand why Levy seems to be allergic to trying to win something. I am not asking him to spend more money. Just spend the money that will be spent on 3 players that will never make it on 1 player that can get into the 1st team and actually help the football team

        • mattspurs July 16, 2017 at 5:24 pm

Problem is for every few duds there’s a gem.

Dele, Rose, Dier, Trippier, Wanyama were all bargains.

    • mattspurs July 16, 2017 at 4:53 pm

Which foreign league is the best for PL clubs to recruit from? Is it better to recruit from the PL or Championship?

      • Bruxie July 16, 2017 at 4:57 pm

It used to be Scandanavian leagues…now we have to include the Balkan states to some degree and, of course Germany.

Holland appears 2nd rate. France – pfft.

        Big budget…Big player.
