Apologies for the resumption of normal service. The unmitigated joy of upgrading one’s server. And to think some people are so thick they associate fewer comments with less traffic.

Spurs versus Barcelona looks like fun, or at least it did until you start to try work out what our starting XI might be.

Barca’s form has been called into question in certain quarters and would simply say this: ‘Good luck with the rain dance and I hope your crops get wet.’

Unlike Spurs, a side like Barcelona have strength in depth and a club strategy that looks beyond chasing money.

The good news however is that the grey clouds that are our injuries – may be clearing somewhat.

Hugo Lloris, Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele could still be in contention to make the game.

Dele Alli, Michel Vorm and Serge Aurier are all out, but to be blunt I’d rather have any of that first 3 than the last.

Will Jan Vertonghen be available?

To be perfectly honest, Sanchez, Toby and Rose are all in such good form right now, I wouldn’t get too aerated if the Belgian had to sit this one out.

We’re still in this.

for once you are way more upbeat than me!! I personally think the Barca B side could give us trouble at the moment. for all the comments about “turning it around” we need to look at who we beat, Brighton (we were lucky) and Huddersfield (a team where Kane is the top PL scorer at their stadium!!). The one game we faced of any real merit (and under strength Watford) we almost lost, and still couldn’t keep a 2-1 lead for 15mins! Barca will test us with every inch, only saving grace is they will not play in a physical way, which is where we have struggled of late.

I’d be happy to lose 1-0 but then, that’s me, and it’s what 40+ years of supporting our ‘nearly there’ team have done to me

Can’t quite believe this response to a Sid Trotter post but………….

It’s less about winning this game tonight, more about the other match if we want to bag second. If as I expect, everyone else loses to Barca home and away, a draw for us tonight, and a draw in the other game would keep Inter within our sights. Follow that up with two wins v PSV and a revenge drubbing of Inter in the return leg and Robert’s your Father’s Brother!
