Morata Questions Make Sense

By The Boy -

Manchester United are thought to be keen on signing Real Madrid’s striker Alvaro Morata this summer

Paul Merton told Sky Sports News HQ: “I honestly thought Man Utd would have gone for Harry Kane. I thought they would have gone £90m or £100m for him.

“I don’t think Man Utd can afford to have a Pogba situation next season where they pay big money for someone and it’s going to take them a season to get into it.

“This is a hard league. If Man Utd had gone for Harry Kane they’d buy someone who is going to hit the ground running, is proven to get you at least 25 goals a season.”

Whilst I despise Levy – and even I find it difficult to believe we’d sell Kane (if he could be forced to leave) – to another Premier League side…

What this quote does flag up is the fact that players from outside the Premier League generally speaking do not settle  easily.

Spurs in particular have a wheelbarrow full of form for buying players that failed to ‘hit the ground running’.

So my question to you delicate flowers is this.

Spurs at Wembley is damage limitation exercise, this isn’t up for debate.

The New Destination™ is also bound to require to acclimatisation this also isn’t up for debate.

In light of this, do you think Levy’s already failed strategy of buying muck like Clinton Cards and No Cluedo  should be abandoned, or do you think there’s still room for the house policy of buying cheap and buying twice?
