Home » March Or Bust For Levy

Breaking news from The Evening Standard serves to confirm what was already on the cards.

Essentially, the Crystal Palace game got rescheduled, and so ‘suddenly’ we have no matches from March 9th to March 31st.

This has prompted provisionally scheduled test events for March 16th and March 23rd.

Tottenham’s remaining home matches after Arsenal on March 2nd are Brighton & Hove Albion on April 6th, Huddersfield Town on April 13th, West Ham United on April 27th, and Everton on May 12th

To be added to these will be the rescheduled Palace game, at some point in April/

Also for consideration are the Champions League quarter finals which take place on April 9th and 10th.

Endless speculation over the first game at the new venue IF the tests DON’T fail again isn’t something I’ll be indulging in. Good grief, the place ought to have been opened last September.

The Harry Hotspur blog understands that the cost of Wembley (kindly note fan dismay is a distinct second) is ENIC’s death of a 1000 cuts. Do not be surprised if the stadium opens rather softly, for a midweek game.

Should the test events not pass muster AGAIN, then it’s not opening until next season.

It’s sad and it’s also sadly nothing new Tappa. My folks are from the Tottenham area and beyond in working class and lower middle class London. Many of them worked in factories on the Lea near Tottenham Hale, all that industrial area ripped out and gone, some worked on the docks on the Thames, all gone.

The pubs, the working men’s clubs, the streets flattened to build shit estates and force them out to crappy new towns. The suburban areas some went to see now going through the same and unrecognisable from even 20 years ago.

Slum clearances in London during the 60’s and 70’s was only about breaking up communities and creating a population for new towns like Harlow and Hoddeston etc etc, faceless places.

All settlers over the years have been through this. No pie and mash and jellied eels left, no Kosher Salt Beef shops, Irish pubs gone. Been to Kilburn lately? Not an Irish person left there anymore.

The people who make the decisions are out of touch idealogical twats or greedy speculators, Corbyn or Boris, makes no difference. The fact is that people get moved around and always have done.

Before the industrial revolution what happened to the rural communities when everyone went to work and live in the cities?

It’s sad but it’s not specific to anyone or any particular group. It’s one group of people calling the shots, left, right doesn’t matter.

And people wonder how Trump manages to exploit the current climate? People feel powerless…

His stubbornness to a failing ideal isn’t helping him either. Especially when he weaknesses can be filled by players that are already present. Your defence is too exposed do you play a) one of the best defensive midfielders in PL history, b) some guy that has struggled all season and not had one good game, someone so poor Bournemouth targeted and gained 4 goals…most sensible people “option a”, Sarri…”how dare you question my skills…”

Each week Sarri’s stubbornness and ineptitude makes me think he is Levy. Both bald, both stubborn and would both rather see their clubs collapse than admit fault.

They have to sell it coz of the inheritance tax £150k. All families will sell and be forced to leave eventually. Cant buy anything here with whats left. I know – I wonder if he was getting smoke blown up his arse about how minor it all was, or whether it was a complete disregard for all things but himself. Though I would usually lean to the latter, this route has cost him money and reputation, which he values above all else. I think he honestly thought September was do-able, and hten when It failed that it would only be a few weeks each time. Now he is too arrogant to admit fault to come up with a real mitigation. If at the first delay he knew how big the problem was, I am sure he could have struck a deal with FA/Wembley to have a reduced rate (like last season). I don’t think there was ever any world where the fans got a better time than they are getting now, but I do think the cost issue would have been reviewed properly. So basically we either have “he is incompetent as a chairman of a football club” for not looking at costs of playing for a longer period, “or failing as a PM” for not realising that the teams he chose cant be trusted

Just to back up what you are saying, from Sky:

Aubameyang leaves Filipovic chasing shadows. He crosses low into the six-yard box where Volkov looks like he’s got time to get it away but in almost slow motion, he stoops and controls the ball into the far corner of his own net under no pressure.

GOAL! SCHALKE 2-1 MAN CITY (Bentaleb pen 45)

Bentaleb does it again! Ederson goes the right way and gets a hand to his penalty but the former Tottenham man’s spot kick is high to his right and he can only help it on its way into the top corner.

1. Essedntially Chelski lack Terry leadership
2. Missing a key striker as never adequately replaced Drogba and Diego Costa
3. Kante played out of position
4. Weak at the back and in midfield – Miss Lampard
5. Joginho not good enough.
6. Over reliant on Hazard

I know what you mean the current team are rested for once and working well together. Kane will probably get 30 mins and Dale not ready for 10 days or something. If fit and refreshed for the first time in 12 months or so who would not want Kane back for those 3 games. I’m a little scared I’m starting to believe we actually have a chance with something. A 1- 1 draw on Sat will on put that to bed.

What worries me about the upcoming run of Racists, Arse-biscuits und Krauts is that we have just got an unexpected coming together of the personnel that are genuinely fit, through a total lack of choice, that has ended up working out. Having the choice of available but not match fit HK, Dele (and god forbid Davies), into the middle of that kind of muddies the water/focus a little bit..

After all the ‘doing a Leeds’ etc, when those type of owners leave at least the club is still intact at its core, there maybe financial misery and a long recovery but the structure and heart is always there. With ENIC, when they leave there will remain a damage that will be beyond recovery. The area, the bowl and the demolished home will be a scar that will be on N17 forever, along with the impact on many many people’s lives on different levels.

I despise what they are and what they have done.

Never know what’s going on with the powers that be. However if they had a shred of decency all they had to do was keeps fans appraised of what was happening. I don’t really know what to make of it all, if he was incompetent or complicit in an interest free loan, but the fact he hasn’t said a word of any real worth, and the fact that this is the character that would have dragged us off to Stratford, means he hasn’t earned the right to remain silent, he’s had a lot of slack from the fans and he doesn’t deserve it. Love the NFL logo in the window of Europe’s biggest club shop as well…
