Man Utd Away – The PreMatch Prattle

By The Boy -

With the restrictions in place courtesy of the physio’s table and the local ICU, the team almost picks itself.

PreMatch quote of the day belongs to a poster on the Manchester United forum Red Cafe who wrotes: “If Spurs win this game Sherwood will become favourite for Hodgson’s job after the World Cup.”

Many a true word spoken in jest, eh?

The game will hinge upon whether we build on the cohesion that emerged against Stoke, or revert to slipshod gung-ho employed against Stoke.

Rooney is subject to a late fitness test. Being a psychopath, I expect him to ace it and start. Carrick is also enjoying some better than decent form.

On the old “this isn’t the Manchester United of old” one, if you squint and look at their problems so far this season, they almost resemble ours.  They’ve been conceding too many goals.

Hardly a staggering claim as they sit above us only by dint of goal difference, but certainly a thought many if any of us would have had as they lifted the title last season.

Given the 2-2 result at The Lane, where we played one of our most effective games under Villas-Boas, and that under Tim we’re wanting to play a far more attacking game, it isn’t difficult to see the outcome this one resembling an air hockey score.

Tactically, a 442 with Eriksen occasionally doing a a bit of disruptive slotting in behind the front pair would be nice.
