I have made little secret… not scratch that. I have made no secret of my confusion over the acquisition of Fernando Llorente. As a purchase, as a player it made a lot of sense at the time. Which is to say Llorente was theoretically a good buy and one that made sense.

However the 32 year old has made 6 league appearances from the bench and I can barely recall more than one or two instances where he was really involved in play. He’s 6′ 3″ and yet Poch appears unaware that of that fact that it might be a good idea to put a ball on his head.

The Mirror among many reporting that THFC scouts have been extensively watching Watford’s 20-year-old Brazilian forward Richarlison.

The boy is said to have explosive pace and has in just 11 appearances already scored 4 times since his  £11.2million move from Fluminense.

Kane isn’t leaving anytime soon, and Poch appears confused as how to use Fernando.

    I’m not kidding.

I have a ticket for Saturday.

    I’m tingling.

We are in the supremacy and I feel that honours are awaiting this group of lads who show and receive devotion from Pochettino.

I have never…even chasing Leicester…felt so good about my team.

    Do ’em.

    And it’s only Wednesday.

  • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 2:11 pm

    Harry Hotspur
‘Mourinho. He doesn’t give a shit what long-term impact his purchases have on a club’
    and nobody said a word
Because it’s a ridiculous statement. Fuck the future. He’s a winner. The manager you want to beat ups on is Redknapp. That fuck spends like it’s stolen money and never won anything other than the FA Cup once.
Jose is a serial winner. He throws coveted medals into the crowd. He’s an animal. A predator. And you’re complaining because he missed the bin with a screwed up serviette?
I would bin Poch and replace him with Jose tomorrow. Why? Because I have no empathy, no fairytale emotional heartstrings. I want to win. Jose delivers. He fucks prom queens. Roughly. Sometimes 3 at a time.
Is he a nice person? That’s not the question.

Jose delivers because he has no spend limit. An amazing manager, tactically speaking probably the best in the world. Could he do what Poch has on the same budget? Does he leave teams healthy in the long term? Does he play miserable football that provides little entertainment for the fans? Meh.

    • Harry Hotspur November 15, 2017 at 3:16 pm

Jose is an assassin. Once you make the decision to employ someone to kill you cannot start moaning about blood on the wallpaper and bullet holes in the ceilings.

How do Leicester City fans feel having been on a downward spiral ever since they won the league? My best guess is that they still haven’t stopped smiling 😎

      • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 3:26 pm

They achieved the impossible and are probably content with that. Are you equating our ambition with theirs? Would you not rather build a legacy? Ask a United fan to compare Ferguson and Jose. We may not get instant results, we may never get results, but I’d take the dream of utopia over two season Jose.

  • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 1:53 pm

A signing like Loriente has to be judged on his contribution over a season or couple of seasons I’m my opinion.

He’s going to mainly make sub appearances and the odd start when Kane isn’t available or partnering him for a tactical reason (see our excellent draw in Madrid).

The Madrid away result was a prime example of how he will contribute. His experience and guile was a subtle influence but pivotal in that match.

We keep going on about the lack of experienced trophy winners in the squad. We go and get one and he gets written off because he’s not banging then in like he did at Swansea last season or because he’s “got nah pace mayte”.

This is boring, he brings something to the squad we have very. Like I’ve said before show me a current Spurs player with his trophy haul and come back to me on that one.

    Leave Fernando alone…

    • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 1:54 pm

      *have very little of.

      • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 2:32 pm

At least he has a track record to add to that judgement process. Vinny had none and contributed less in his season with us than Fernando has in about 6 appearances. He’s now in Istanbul…

    • Harry Hotspur November 15, 2017 at 2:03 pm

At 32 judgement day may be closer to hand than you know, brother.

      • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 2:13 pm

Judgement day was about four years ago, brother. He is what he is, don’t dream of some magical Indian summer.

        • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 2:39 pm

He scored a lot of goals for Swansea last season in the Premier League. Indian summer? Not quite sure he’s even had a ‘winter’ yet.

His story with Spurs hasn’t exactly been written after few months. He’s the only proven regular trophy winner in our squad. Some of which are polished and unpolished turds anyway.

Where does this entitlement and damning judgement of a player of his calibre fit suddenly within a Spurs supporter’s frame of reference?

We don’t pay the going rate to justify such bollocks…

          • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 3:23 pm

Saying he’s seen his best days is not synonymous with he can’t do a job for us. He’s about to be 33, even taff will tell you it’s a fact that he is past his prime. Playing for Juve was his judgement day. At Spurs, he is a better version of signing Saha or Gudjonsen. Better, but not the best.

            • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 9:07 pm

He’s a bargain bucket signing without doubt. The thing is in Levy’s world us poor beggars can’t be choosers…

          • East Stand November 15, 2017 at 9:09 pm

He’s a winner, the only one we’ve got and he came from Swansea at 32 years old. Welcome to more not paying the going rate!!

In 1960 our reserve players were either mediocre or worse
We had some average players even in the team. But the better players actually made those players better. This happens.I think Levy and Poch have done fantastic up to now.

  • OrganicPaper November 15, 2017 at 1:29 pm

Given his wages and the likely fee, im really struggling to imagine what universe we would ever re-sign Bale.
For him to return in my opinion would only happen as a loan deal for a season. Its not beyond the realms of possibility that we would be able to pay a percentage of his wages + a fixed fee. For this to happen though: 1 – No one else (Man U) makes a full transfer bid. 2 – Bale really, really, really, wants to come back to us, which Im yet to be convinced of.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 1:34 pm

Probably what Everton fans were saying about Rooney. But you’re probably correct. I’m not saying we will sign him, I’m saying we should.

  • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 1:28 pm

  • Camus November 15, 2017 at 12:44 pm

Bale is broken. That’s my view.
Looks like I got people talking though….!

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:45 pm

He is broken, you’re right. It’s the reason we have a hope of signing him!

      • Harry Hotspur November 15, 2017 at 1:10 pm

        Correct.

Broken and therefore within our grasp. He’d be a total waste of money.

The last household name we went after was Zlatan and we didn’t offer enough so he went to MUFC. Levy will never break the bank for a household name. Ever.

This is 95% opinion and 100% fact just to demonstrate what a heavy tipper I am.

Levys thing is to balance the books and come out ahead. now we are just short of one more player,in my opinion a CM (yes we need other more fill in players) We have been growing and leaps and bounds and no reason we could push higher probably by selling one or two players and buying one

          • caveman November 15, 2017 at 1:22 pm

Go, who’s fit and who’s out for the goons. Physioroom has Winks, Kane, Dele as slight doubts but all 3 should start. They have Vorm as out and Lloris as possible. We need Hugo back for this one badly. Wanyama and Lamela out – no surprise. Lastly Toby won’t be ready. Then there’s Eriksen who’ll be knackered as will Dier. Hmmm…

    • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:45 pm

      IT’S OKAY. WE HAVE SISSOKO.

  • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:23 pm

Bale is the only superstar we are capable of signing. Fact. Poch wants committed players, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want celebrities. Harry Kane is a celebrity. As is Dele Alli. As is Eriksen. As is Lloris.
If you play for Real Madrid, it means you’re commited. It means you’ve trained alongside the very best.
Ronaldo is a twat, he is a celebrity, and he is the most committed player in the world.
If it is financially viable there is no way Poch says no. Ok, he’ll only be around for 50% of our games. That makes our current squad, already title challengers, an even better team for 50% of the time.
Who says he’d cost 85 mil, apart from the tabloids? Bayern Munich have the option to sign James Rodriguez for €35m.
I’d take Bale for 50 over Barkley for 20 every single day of the week, and you’d have to be insane to disagree.
Maybe his wages could be dependent on appearances/fitness?

    • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:27 pm

If Bale could play as a CM,using he head more and his talent and making those runs occasionally taking a man on and opening space then absolutely we should buy him. It would make us powerful. But it wont happen unless he really wanted to come to Spurs.

    • caveman November 15, 2017 at 12:28 pm

I’m insane because I disagree. Bale would get fit enough to fit in Poch’s plans. You get fit in Poch’s squad or you don’t fit in, no exceptions. Fact.

      • caveman November 15, 2017 at 12:28 pm

        would = wouldn’t

      • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:32 pm

He is super fit and super prone to injury. Which of your loved ones is Barkley holding you hostage? I’d appreciate a single link you could provide of him looking world class. I can give you plenty of Bale. Whilst it is important to buy young and raw, we will never evolve into what we should be without occasionally signing someone ready made. Simple as.

        • caveman November 15, 2017 at 12:35 pm

Just my opinion. Don’t do links!

    • UnkleTaff November 15, 2017 at 12:33 pm

Bale is the only superstar we are capable of signing. Opinion.

      • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:41 pm

Ok, be objective. Which ready made, internationally acclaimed superstar would we be capable of signing, bar Bale?
And which one would consider choosing us over the bigger, richer teams?
Bale is damaged goods, and revered by the Spurs fans. Hence, the only superstar we are capable of signing.

        • UnkleTaff November 15, 2017 at 12:44 pm

Don’t know. Don’t care. And I’m really not interested in having a conversation with someone who presents his opinions as facts.

Deflection much? I’ve defended my view. Whatever floats your boat.

Taff lets get it on mate. 99% of what we hear on here is opinions.
There is only one fact and thats the goal tally

          • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:51 pm

Its all hyperthetical when it comes to signing someone. There are 12 questionable questions that we dont have about any of these situations but everyone has an opinion, not a fact

          • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:53 pm

If your entire argument is based on semantics then it’s a poor argument. I’m terribly sorry for calling my opinion a fact. Turns out I’m just a fan with views, and not the chairman or owner. You don’t want to have a conversation because you can’t argue with what I said.

          • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:56 pm

            • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:59 pm

He didn’t say fact after all of that. Just because he presented it as one (and admittedly has precedent to back him up), the correct phraseology puts him in the clear.

Bales ability to take on a man and beat him with skill and speed will open up defences thats for sure. Its an area we lack in.Not too many of our players can do that.
Is it possible that Bale could play CM?

    • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:11 pm

He certainly can pass,he has presence,he can tackle,he is getting older.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:25 pm

Why would you fit a square peg in a round hole if there is a round hole available. There are other options for CM who actually play as central midfielders.

      • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:29 pm

So you want to buy Bale and another top notch player.Look its possible.Maybe selling Rose and Dele would do it.

        • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:37 pm

          Bale = 50ish.
          Kovacic= 30ish.
80ish all together. You know what, screw it, call it 120.

          Sissoko=30.
          Llorente=12.
          Janssen =19.
          Nkoudou=14.
          Njie=14.
          Lamela=30.
          119.

Of course we could afford it, Levy just doesn’t splash it like he could. I’d rather two world class players and zero shit ones.

  • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:02 pm

If Bale becomes available Utd will buy him.

I don’t buy for one minute that we’ll buy Bale back – BUT, Levy will make sure it looks as though we sure as hell tried.

    • caveman November 15, 2017 at 12:07 pm

Poch wouldn’t want him. There’s no place for celebs at Spurs.

      • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:08 pm

He’d have to cut his hair/have a shave aswell

    • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:08 pm

      Why would Levy do that?
Then everyone would be more pissed off at him
We havent heard anything from Bale himself but with many teams probably in for him,his view will be the most important.I cant see Levy making a big unless Bales wanted to come to us because with that Levy would have some leverage

      • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:10 pm

        ronwol196061
        Why would Levy do that?

He has form for doing that.

        • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:13 pm

Yes but I think that phase is over.He doesnt need to do that anymore. Now we are winners,he has to show the fans and our other players that he is powerful and not a nearly did in chairman. Its a new phase, really

          • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:17 pm

To an extent that is true. However, until we buy strikers/attackers of intent rather than Llorente/Janssen/Nkoudou/Clinton/Sissoko etc. I shall remain cynical. Not even sceptical. Cynical!

            • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:23 pm

I think that was the plan but the key buy this season was Sanchez. It was on the back of the Walker sale but it showed intent to improve the team. Similarly I see us selling Rose to finance a new CM.Its clever business. But its not pretend business anymore.
Llorente wasnt a bad buy. It was a small gamble thats all when we have other players that can fill in for Kane etc. We need much more creativity without losing any power at the CM position much more than bench players at the moment

              • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:27 pm

                +1

              • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 12:29 pm

I don’t know about that. Yes the back half of the team is decent and we’ve spent wisely there… Aurier, we’ll see. It’s the attack that needs a boost. Flair players. Not junk. We see it season after season. Llorente is not a back up for Kane – he’s a different option for the dying minutes. We STILL don’t have a back up for Kane. Getting Sonny to fill in for him is a bit like asking an electrician to do a plumbers job. He’s being rebadged.

Dele is the closest we have to a back up for Kane, but Dele’s shooting is a bit erratic.

                • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:33 pm

IM not so worried about it. We have shown that having a classic striker doesnt work for us. Kane is very mobile in that way he is almost a 10 rather than a 9 but he scores like a 9.He just doesnt wait for the ball.
When we are fluid we do well, when we play packed defence and we have a slower build up the striker doesnt see the light of day. This position is less important than creating from midfield

Dynamic technical wingers would improve our wing play. Martial / Zaha. Guys that can run at a defenders and put a ball in properly. And Yes, a creative CM. Not sure whether that’s Barkley or not. A backup striker – Josh King. Improve the attacking and creative options.

                    • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:46 pm

Yes it all is good and can be improved but they key position right now is CM
We also have to wait re Lamela in the sense of either using him or selling him.It cant go on indefinately.

                • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 12:37 pm

everybody is going on about Eriksen but even in the Denmark game he showed what a fantastic scorer he is. He didnt make any goals (he was involved in build up play i know) but he is sensational scorer in the fluidity of Greaves, really. So we are not short of scorers. We need to get a great CM in

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 12:43 pm

Yeah, much better to compete with Cavani, Mbappe, Neymar, Draxler, Di Maria, Lucas Moura.
He has much more competition from our squad.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 11:41 am

      I’d love him at Spurs

      • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 11:49 am

Him or Goretzka but it seems the world is after Goretzka.
We are building the best stadium in the world,we need a fitting CM

  • Aussie in Switzerland November 15, 2017 at 11:09 am

Woohoo….Australia qualifies for Russia….now to hope we draw England, since we are shocking and I know England needs some help

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 11:41 am

To be fair even England would want to draw England

      • Aussie in Switzerland November 15, 2017 at 11:44 am

If we score a goal against anyone I will be surprised…..so we all in the shit bucket together…..

  • MiT November 15, 2017 at 10:24 am

Llorente is no different from the vast of players Spurs sign. Both the squad and the player take time to figure out how he best fits in. Hard worker, and conscientious man. He and the lads will figure it all out in due time.
    Cheers, and COYS.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:27 am

Lucky he’s only turning 33 in February. He has time on his side, give him a couple seasons…

      • MiT November 15, 2017 at 10:38 am

        Weeks, not years.

From an eternal optimist, of course.

I was having a perfect thursday until I realised it was wednesday. The premier league could not return sooner.

  • Camus November 15, 2017 at 9:08 am

What a worldie hat-trick from the Great Dane, eh?
    Absolutely top drawer.

In other news, someone on Twitter posted last night that they’d wet their pance in delight if we signed Bale back. I too would love to have another expensive bench-warmer who’s never fit about the place. You can never have too many Lamelas…

There are some strange folk about.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:12 am

Injury prone or not, you’ve got to admit that it would be nice, in theory, to have Bale back. It would be a sign of intent, one that tells any potential wantaway player to stick around. One that tells the world that we are big boys now. One that would elevate our squad and provide the magic we are sometimes missing. Not saying we should sign him, not saying he’d be worth the money or the wages, not saying it’s entirely logical, but it would be cool. Cooler than you care to admit.

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:16 am

You can’t tell me that you’d rather have Ross Barkley. Bale is not the best player in the world, but name a better player that we are actually capable of signing.

      • McG ⚽⚽ November 15, 2017 at 10:17 am

        Isco.

        • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:21 am

Isco plays first team football for his dream team, has made clear he isn’t interested in leaving, has made clear he isn’t interested in leaving for Spurs, is loved by their fans, would be double the price and double the wages. You’re so 2016!

          • MiT November 15, 2017 at 10:34 am

Bale’s wage demands are still out of reach for any squad remotely interested in balance. You prefer the theoretical approach. Even theoretical maffs must be balanced on both sides of the equation. Isco is closer to a reality than Bale. Neither is happening. Spurs like to develop the fit rather than to plug n play. Alderweireld and Sanchez aside, of course. Thank goodness for them.

            • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:39 am

Continuing along the lines of my near utopian theoretical universe, consider the new stadium and the need for Levy to make Spurs look attractive. The potential for Nike to poach him from Adidas. The need to keep the players we have happy. The return of the prodigal son. I don’t think it will happen, but I do think it makes sense. Theoretically!

              • McG⚽⚽ November 15, 2017 at 11:29 am

I was only messing with the Isco comment 😉 In all seriousness, who’d pay more than say 40/50mil tops for Bale? I wouldn’t wanna go above 40 given he’ll only play 50% of matches!

                • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 11:35 am

I dont know why Bale would want to come to us. We play a gruelling system physical wise. Its not going to happen. We need a CM more than anything

                • UnkleTaff November 15, 2017 at 11:47 am

Mourinho. He doesn’t give a shit what long-term impact his purchases have on a club.

If Bale becomes available Utd will buy him.

              • ronwol196061 November 15, 2017 at 11:33 am

The stadium thing is the one crack we have at buying that marquee player we need.On one hand we are spending a fortune on the stadium and on the other we need a new signing to boost our status for the stadium but beyond that, the right kind of player will make us true contenders and serious contenders. We could buy someone that Pochs believes will put us over the top and raise the bonuses of the other playersfor team performace and results and if it works everyone is happy

  • McG ⚽⚽ November 15, 2017 at 8:57 am

Eriksen’s every touch from last night… Hope he has a similar game on Sat, apart from the corner taking!

    • AccringtonSpurs November 15, 2017 at 10:15 am

Wish he could replicate that form for us every week.

His 3rd goal is a cracker

    • Yiddo November 15, 2017 at 10:17 am

No premier league team would allow him the freedom he was afforded last night. Wonderful to watch, just don’t think he will put three past Arsenal.

  • gloster1861 November 15, 2017 at 8:38 am

OK, is everyone accounted for? We need them all back in one piece and ready for the Big Game. Hunting down and slaying the Woolwich.
