Anyone under the illusion that Fernando Llorente was bought as a bit part, another ageing lunk following in the footsteps of Moussa Sissoko is in for a surprise.

Llorente was a considered choice and this is reflected in his wages. Gladys believes that the 32 year old swings straight onto Spurs on a deal identical to that of Kane’s.

“I’m very happy to join Tottenham, an amazing Club and I can only say I come here to help Tottenham try to win titles. ”

I think they are working really well in the last few years, I like Mauricio Pochettino, his mentality, his thoughts about Tottenham and I think the project and the philosophy of this Club is amazing.

“I’m very excited to come here. I think Harry Kane is an amazing striker and I’m very happy to play with him and the other players. I want to get to know them and start to train with my new team-mates.”

Llorente is a quality addition with 15 goals from his last 33 appearances in the Premier League. At Tottenham, I believe he will prove to be a player that makes a real difference.

Former Tottenham player Danny Murphy said in The London Evening Standard.“I doubt Daniel Levy will make a habit of signing 32-year-old outfield players but it is a clever bit of business.”

I make him right.

I interviewed a prospective employee last week. He was a fresh arrival from the UK and in his own words “when he left the UK for Canada he was at the top of his game in London”. His wage demands would have put him at parity with the managing principals of the practice. The managing principals are in their sixties…..he is 35. Sometimes wage parity demands are successful and sometimes they prove to be fatal.
