It gives me no
little pleasure to tell you that the itk was right.
Bungle Von Bald-Womble aka Daniel Levy did blow his negotiations with the NFL.
Neville Chamberlain’s ‘peace in our time’ had more substance to it than Levy’s 2 games per annum deal with the NFL.
What Levy came back from New York with was a fresh footprint on his teeny ass.
The sale of Wembley stadium will in a stroke dissolve Levy’s USP.
Mark Waller of the NFL said:
“The NFL have welcomed the move with vice-president of events and international Mark Waller saying: “We are very happy for Shahid Khan and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The potential purchase of Wembley stadium is a further powerful sign of their commitment to the UK and their vision to help us grow the sport.
“Having stadium options in London has always been critical to the NFL and, in tandem with our 10-year partnership with Tottenham Hotspur, this new relationship would allow for even greater flexibility in scheduling future NFL games in London.”
The Independent sports section leader today is spot on when suggesting:
“The move will be considered a huge blow to Tottenham’s hopes of housing a permanent NFL team in their multimillion new home in the future.”
This is additional deal is irresistibly weighted in the NFL’s favour.

Why would anyone commit to a specific venue when there is suddenly choice.
Levy pitched the NFL a ‘panacea’.
The NFL could barely believe what they were being offered.
The hire of a lifeboat in a market they knew they could ultimately dominate!
If the NFL were to be successful in England they would need far greater agility than some Byrite Bloke in N17 waffling on about a retractable pitch.
Speaking of agility – Levy will not be able to compete with Wembley.
A new owner will be able to offer any day of the year.
Billionaire American Shahid Khan could and probably will say, ‘my home is your home’…
This is how billionaires do business.
None of this ‘and we could offer you a slice of our lucrative corporate box minibar streams once certain milestones were met…‘
In hindsight, our glorious leader must be regretting he didn’t retract his pitch and stay in Blighty, that balmy afternoon.
Not only is ENIC’s USP is gone – more to the point there are no guarantees that the NFL won’t offer Chelsea a franchise once their arena rolls out.
As previously suggested by yours truly, do ENIC really believe an increasingly Momentum dominated Haringey Council are going to ignore the inevitable objections of local residents to concerts and just about anything else that involves a bit of a Shangri-La outside at the New Destination™?
That’s precisely what scuppered The Emirates – and their take over wasn’t anywhere near as bloodied as ENIC’s was.
I don’t have a degree in Economics and Land Management but you might brace yourselves for a few extra pence upon the price of your gluten free, hand crafted, bagel platter de jour…
