Is ENIC’s New Destination™ going to open in time?
On June 14th, the Premier League announce their full fixture list for the 2018-19 season – but as fans know, that list is NOT generated by tapping a button at teatime on the 13th.
Complex consultations need to take place amongst a number agencies – including the police – before an approved list can finally be published.
The proposed opening NFL game – at the still frantically under construction arena – is scheduled for the for the 14th of October.
Again, this is not the cut off date either.
The NFL will want to market the spectacle effectively, and so a campaign and all the required publicity materials will need to be prepared.
In short, Daniel Levy’s plate spinning act is becoming a tortuous watch.
Pressing Gladys for an update on incoming targets, I was basically told, ‘You’re kidding, aren’t you?!’
The entire thrust if of THFC’s efforts is around the stadium.
Anything player related that has been seen to since the season’s close was I am told, because it was business that didn’t requite Daniel to be disturbed.
This puts the Pochettino line of ‘the club needs to be brave’ into stark relief.
The football side of the business is well and truly on hold and a repeat of Levy’s usual game of last minute ‘chicken’ in the transfer window looks inevitable.
As Levy drowns in the minutiae of stadium business, he’s staring at a number of clocks …all running down on him.
Not only has Levy the Premier League and the NFL to placate, but a fanbase who want assurances that the team is going to be genuinely reinforced.
To date, the only thing that has been confirmed is a state of inertia.
The transfer window this summer has already had several weeks shaved from it.
Premier League clubs voted to close business on the 9th of August opposed to the 31st.
Time is not Mr Levy’s friend.
