Danni Alves looks to have ‘snubbed’ Manchester City in favour of PSG.

The the erstwhile Barca and Juventus defender met Guardiola last week, and was expected to sign for City but an endless flurry off reports form major outlets say that the veteran has been well and truly wooed by the French.

This leaves City in a bit of a pickle.Β Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna have gone and Gael Clichy have all gone.

Levy’s reluctance to blink over the price of Bonzo has almost certainly cost Manchester City Β£10million more than they wanted to pay for the 27 year old. Walker’s fee could be the biggest deal since Levy last sold one of our starting XI.

Question is, can Baldy land anyone Pochettino needs?

Trippier is better going forward and with three at the back that’s what he will be doing.

  • modricbigtoe July 13, 2017 at 3:15 pm

I think he would preferred this 50 mil was not all over the media, price has just gone up on any incoming

  • Kitbutler July 12, 2017 at 2:28 am

So, an open question with no judgement or bias towards the answer, just interested in people’s views. Where would people like to see us strengthen? Who, if anyone, do people feel isn’t a starting player we already have? Personally I’m a little confused as I definitely think the squad is “lightweight”, but I believe the starting 11 is strong…..

    • Kitbutler July 12, 2017 at 2:51 am

Also would anyone take 50-60 mill (which is being reported) for Dier? Is he in anyone’s first 11? Or just a good utility player who can cover several positions?

      • Aussie in Switzerland July 12, 2017 at 8:47 am

More importantly he is best mates with Dele

      • SpursBoy July 13, 2017 at 1:15 am

Generally overrated. We can get a number of better players for that money.

      • modricbigtoe July 13, 2017 at 3:16 pm

60 for Dier plus Martial, deal done

    • jimmylofi July 12, 2017 at 12:18 pm

Happy with a first XI of Lloris, Rose, Toby, Verts, Dier, Wanyama, Dembele, Alli, Eriksen, Kane. Happy with Vorm, Son, Wimmer, Lamela, Winks, Onomah, Davies, CCV, but think Wimmer will be off. Janssen can have another season to produce, cup game time please. Kyle to hopefully stay, but if he goes we need option at RB – Trips is good when on form, but needs competition . Would like to see another striker and another wide attacking mid. Siggy would be perfect.

It’s not a buyer’s market right now, is it? Certainly not a Levy market. So selling him would be silly if we don’t need to..

  • Brian Feldman July 11, 2017 at 9:44 pm

Also, Dier isn’t going anywhere. 60 mil isn’t enough. He’s Dele’s best friend and that alone is probably worth 20mil.

  • Brian Feldman July 11, 2017 at 9:42 pm

Don’t know why everyone is so worried about our finances and wages. We are by no means the same selling club we have been in the past. It’s absolutely a new era for Spurs. There was all that talk about Kovacic and his salary being to high for Spurs. But Kovacic only makes 60k per week. That is not even close to Spurs highest earners. Spurs are starting to pay their players legit salaries in order to keep them. No we can’t pay 350k a week like RM do for Ronaldo and Bale. But we can easily afford to pay players 100-150k if necessary. I don’t believe the lack of transfers so far has anything to do with salary structure. They simply know they don’t need to make any drastic moves. We are in great position and going in to next season there is very little we have to change. I guess Spurs supporters are just so used to pessimism they haven’t been able to alter their perception to the new reality. Spurs are a contending club. End of story.

  • Azas July 11, 2017 at 8:59 pm

Good question. Transfer windows are not our strongest area

  • Pj July 11, 2017 at 8:19 pm

Β£50m is a lot of money for a player that wants out, BUT imho Trippier will get found out at a Wembley more so than Walker! Walker makes naive decisions going forward but his Pace saves him at the back.

I must admit i thought the board would let us/poch down and sell 2 or 3, walker n dier, it’s easy to forget that the papers/talkshite is just daily bollocks, so maybe we won’t… Now can we buy well??! πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚πŸ˜› COYS πŸ‘

Arses Sanchez reportedly wants an increased obscene wage of Β£400K per week. Interesting to see what happens? Does he deserve it? and can they afford to lose him, probably not.

      over and out.

      • gloster1861 July 11, 2017 at 6:42 pm

Of course he wants a big pay rise. So do I.

I won’t get it, but Sanchez would be a big loss to Auntie Wenger. Reportedly sitting on a pile of cash, will Wenger sanction it?

    • UnkleTaff July 11, 2017 at 6:41 pm

I’d rather be at a club where I could be confident that the coaching staff would make me into the best footballer I could possibly be.

I would look at the difference between Β£80k a week and Β£120k a week and think that Β£80k a week is still a fuck of a lot of money and be more than happy with it.

      • UnkleTaff July 11, 2017 at 6:43 pm

        …but that’s me.

        • mattspurs July 11, 2017 at 6:52 pm

Thing about Walker is that he’s entering the autumn of his career – he’s reliant on his speed and it’ll be the first thing to go. I reckon he’s got three more good years in him so going to City and signing a 6 year contract makes perfect sense.

Everyone talks about Dier being some kind of utility player but he’s played almost 100 games over the past 2 seasons. I’d guess that actually he’s played more games than any other Spurs player over the last two years. He’s important and I’m sure he knows it. Spurs have played him, he’s in the England squad why jeopardise that?

      • baz July 11, 2017 at 6:45 pm

That’s how we see it in the real world. But others would say I could do a hell of alot more with an extra Β£40k a week.

        • baz July 11, 2017 at 6:46 pm

Your idealism is heartwarming. I’ve had a lot of wealthy clients over the years and I’ve yet to meet one who would be happy with Β£80k a week if he could get Β£120k. For that matter Β£85k. . . . They always want just a little bit more. . . .

    • Devonshirespur July 11, 2017 at 6:54 pm

Every club are selling clubs….Ronaldo, Suarez, probably Costa all went / want out for their own reasons.

How can we pay near parity wages with United, whose revenues exceed Β£500m, more than double ours.

If you take the rule of thumb 50-55% of revenue goes on wages as a sustainable level then their wage bill will be Β£250m while ours is Β£120m. Hence the likes of Jessie Lingard is on Β£100k a week.

    • πŸ’‹ July 11, 2017 at 7:05 pm

      Define ‘selling club’ por favor.

I’d say a selling club is one whose * need * to develop and sell talent is equal to or greater than any ‘on-field’ success. I don’t think the Tottinghams satisfy those criterion.

      • UnkleTaff July 11, 2017 at 7:32 pm

        * criteria.

        Sorry, had to do it.

  • TheCincinnatiYid July 11, 2017 at 6:26 pm

    • MiT July 11, 2017 at 8:46 pm

In a case with ample cover, I believe Levy would cash in on a huge deal for him.

  • Ronan July 11, 2017 at 6:04 pm

Just seems silly selling Walks to Man c. Guardiola is someone who knows what a quality wingback brings to today’s game. He’s worked with the very best: Philip Lahm, Dani Alves. And if there’s better than Walks out there, a sure thing at PL level, for a fraction of what Walks would cost then that’s who Guardiola would be going for himself. If Walks does go, then Poch is going to be scrambling after some player who he doesn’t know will be as good. Also sends out a terrible signal to all the other predators and the rest of the squad. Why take the risk?

      • Ronan July 11, 2017 at 6:33 pm

I think having two wingbacks, near-interchangeable in quality, on either flank is one of the great assets of this squad. They have to get through so much work in games that their performance levels can’t be sustained over a full season without having a breather at some stage. I’d say just leave them as they are and spend some money on a young, versatile creator / forward like Moussa Dembele of Celtic.

        • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 6:35 pm

Forget Celtic’s Dembele. that wont happen but I would settle for Leigh Griffiths!

I judge Griffiths on his career at Celtic and whilst Celtic are playing against inferior opponents he has a great left peg and IMO think he would be strengthen the team.

  • Devonshirespur July 11, 2017 at 6:01 pm

Chelsea and United have all learnt the hard way not to try and buy from Levy. Now it’s City’s turn. They may get their man but come the end they will be reluctant to ever do it again.

    • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 6:05 pm

Presumably no one is in a great hurry to do biz with Levy. Just ask Messrs Brady, Gold and Suillvan!

    • gloster1861 July 11, 2017 at 6:27 pm

So United wouldn’t leap at the chance to buy Dier, Alli, Kane? Of course they would, this is a world of hard knocks and high finance. Not a tea party.

      • Devonshirespur July 11, 2017 at 7:01 pm

They would leap at the chance, they just know that chance will not be given to them…why do you think they aint beating our door down???? There is no point in even asking

        • MysteriousStranger July 11, 2017 at 7:05 pm

I suppose they thought that with Carrick and Berbatov too, Spurs have said no, so that’s that?

  • digiyid July 11, 2017 at 5:56 pm

Gael Clichy already signed for another club ..There is a shortage of quality Full Backs in football at the moment therefore i doubt it very much if Levy sells Walker that easily..I think people are buying too much into the deliberate media speculation and hype. Its most of the time agents and clubs trying to unsettle players. Most of the fans do not take notice of statements made by Levy..only a few weeks ago when he was asked about Walker his reply was exactly “he was happy to sign a new deal only a little while ago” if this doesnt show Levys intention what else will.. Do i give a f..k about where City will find their next RB or United their DM? Neither shoud or does Levy..Trust me

    • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 5:59 pm

Thats fine but if sulky Walker has fallen out with Poch is it not best for all concerned to cash in now?

      • digiyid July 11, 2017 at 6:11 pm

So if Levy refuses to sell and Poch picks Walker he will deliberately play shit..is that what you are saying?

        • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 6:16 pm

Digiuid no I am not saying that. Clearly he his not happy playing second fiddle to Trippier but If he stays then it will all be lovey duvvy with Walker giving 100%.

          • digiyid July 11, 2017 at 6:22 pm

Everyone knows it full well that walker will not start the season playing second fiddle to Trippier. It was Pochs idea that he was too tired to play 2 games in a week and played Trippier against Chelsea in the FA cup semi..then again he played Son as a LB (lunacy)..If you were a footballer and happy to be dropped in a glory game that you had been motivating yourself all week for then you have no ambition.

            • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 6:27 pm

Yes I sympathise with Walker but surely you accept the the manager’s decision on the day as Tripper and Son have done biding their time forcing their way into the first team.

        • Billerickyvilla July 11, 2017 at 6:17 pm

          Would we notice any difference?!?

          • digiyid July 11, 2017 at 6:24 pm

Yes you would..walkers pace is on a different level to anyone else..He is a non stop runner destroying opposition LB but without Walker we scored 6s and 7s away from home at the end of the season too. thats another issue.

      • yidiot abroad July 11, 2017 at 6:29 pm

Do we need the money? Really? I suspect DL would have spun the “not to a prem team” to Kyle. Would we be better placed to use KW in a swap deal for Santos at Bayern? Keep City on the hook until there’s no time for them to find a replacement. That way one of our main competitors are weakened while we get stronger

    • Chi Y-Word July 11, 2017 at 5:53 pm

Or ask for Aguero or nothing

      • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 5:56 pm

    • David Dillenberg July 11, 2017 at 5:54 pm

Surely the best desirable deal is a swap deal between Walker and Ineacho?

Does Ineacho streghthen our first eleven? Or is he going to be a bench warmer. It’s all very well having backup for the one fella up top, but we’ve got Son, Erikssen, and Alli to provide cover for. Dele looked dead on his feet the last few games of the season, so a bit more protection for him would be ideal.

Walker, on the other hand, would considerably strengthen City’s back four, so why would we want to do them a favour?

Yes I would snap him up now.

Who said he Ineacho a bench warmer as he could form a great partnership with Kane!

Very much of the same opinion. Janssen was an unknown coming to the PL and it didn’t quite work to date. Ineacho has already shown he can beat your average PL defender quite well and on more than one occasion. Now imagine signing him before the bulk of the pre-season friendlies and giving Poch time to work with both strikers. If Ineacho was to dazzle, we could send Janssen out for a season loan to another PL team and see how he prospers. Of course that requires baldy to act quickly to give Poch a chance, so that’s not going to happen.

Who in our first XI isnt good enough?

Iheanacho is a very decent finisher and has pace. He has a great scoring record as a sub. Ticks a lot of boxes. Dont think we’re in the market for anyone who is at Kanes level.

Get in Lemar with the Bonzo money. It will be a sign of intent.

Clichy has already been unveiled by İstanbul Başakşehir.

I have decided that I want to keep Walker actually. Maybe we can sell them Kyle Walker-Peters with a buy-back clause for when we need him back RM style.
