Spurs began talks with Swansea City some good time ago about re-signing Gylfi 脼贸r Sigur冒sson.

Gladys tells me that THFC were naive in the extremis here and its no surprise that ‘several’ Premier League sides since have made enquiries about the Icelander.

Glad said: “It’s not good, we were in there really early on for him, but the Swans have been inundated with offers that were better. Daniel’s hit the pause button.

Maybe he’s hoping Siggy is desperate to be part of the brave new world. We certainly won’t sign him on the money we’re currently offering”.

I’d love to see Siggy back in the Lilywhite.

When ever Mr Levy is involved in any transfer it will always long and drawn out. He just likes to show off and try and and save a few quid.
Every year is the same and that is why we lose out on good player that could have been bought cheaply if we haaaad acted quickly.
We have a scouting system who do all the donkey work to set up these transfers so why have them if we don’t trust their judgement.
Mr Pochetino has I guess already vetted these players in the first place so he must feel happy about the signings.
If he sees this continue he must be as frustrated as the fans and my guess is he will get fed up and move on. Who can blame him if he does working under a bloke like Levy.!

Pretty much every club below 6th could buy Siggy and he’d be their best player – loads of PL experience and he even qualifies as home grown – that makes him desirable and costly. Swansea can hold out and potentially get 拢35m for him

Siggy’s gonna come & sit on our bench? I don’t think so some how.

  • UnkleTaff June 26, 2017 at 2:38 pm

    McG
Mr Hammy [Oxlade-Chamberlain] who鈥檚 managed 17 games last season, 10 the season before & 17 the season before that. Just what we need, the new Darren Anderton. Oooooh can鈥檛 wait. Will never happen anyway!

I don’t know where you’re going for your stats, but according to the PL’s official site Oxlade-Chamberlain has managed at least 22 league games for each of the past three seasons:

    https://www.premierleague.com/players/4252/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain/stats?se=-1

That’d be a more than useful return for a squad player.

Taff, I took the premier minutes played & divided it by 90 for each year, so I was referring to full games as opposed to starts. We don’t need any more injury prone players. Plus it’ll never happen, plus he wears red, red then dead.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of Swansea’s visit to Spurs on Saturday, Pochettino said the decision to sell Sigurdsson — which Spurs say was taken by former technical director Franco Baldini — had been too hasty.

“When we arrived at Tottenham, he was a player that was difficult to assess,” he said.

“The decision was made when we were in Seattle to play a friendly game [against Seattle Sounders]. I remember he was in the starting XI and I had a call to say: ‘OK, the agreement is done with Swansea.’

“In that moment we had 34 senior players, and to take the decision was too difficult because we did not have enough time.

“I think after he moved to Swansea and we saw his development at Swansea he was a perfect player for us.”

    • caveman June 26, 2017 at 2:21 pm

I don’t believe Poch was being entirely truthful when he made that statement because it involved two players coming in exchange (Vorm & Davies). Also, he had plenty of time to delay the deal until he had had a look at his ability. I bet Swansea wouldn’t swap Siggy now for those two and 拢20m. Some of the F**king deals that Spurs have done recently defy gravity.

    • mikespurs June 26, 2017 at 2:25 pm

Never should have let him go. But who knows, maybe his time there is exactly what he needed to grow. Out of all the guys we’ve been linked too, he’s the one i want back. Doubt levy will pay up though. Sad

      • Daniel Primus June 26, 2017 at 2:39 pm

but would he want to come back? im not so sure.

        • mikespurs June 26, 2017 at 3:23 pm

Maybe……maybe not. He’d have to fight for a starting role. We do offer cl, dont know if he cares or not. Plus what other top 5 team does he fit into? He could go to a mid table team & play every game, or come to us, & have a shot at winning something. Guess it just depends on his priorities

            good point.

I hate it when people call Oxlade-Chamberpot “The Ox”, and Beckham “Becks”. I’m sure there are other name things I hate but those are my starter for 10.

If Swansea feel the need for money, from a sale, he is their biggest asset. So big that Daniel won’t play. That is a shame.
