It’s been announced that Spurs are to remain at Wembley stadium into February 2019 and that the next update from the club will be in respect of what might occur in March.
What I find extraordinary here, is that cosmetically, much of this contactless shopping centre looks completed.
Indeed one can get served a pint, sit in a seat, watch the lights work and the grass looks the desired shade of luscious green.
Which indicates that the ITK about the wiring bungle was spot on.
Yet why are we still 5 months over schedule and no nearer being able to provide fans with a more accurate timeline than, ‘Errr we’ll have to get back to you…’
This indicates that further issues are being discovered along the way consequences of the botch it and scarper manner with which the stadium was initially undertaken.
Every game at Wembley is costing the club a small fortune, a situation exacerbated by dwindling attendances.
Anyone still refusing to acknowledge the entire business has been a shambles from start to …well, where we are now, is a complete fool.
As ever, the club’s complete unwillingness to be transparent – about any specifics – have also only served to make matters worse.
Agreed , it’s embarrassing that they even tried to con people it’d be ready in the time scale set.
Rushed unorganized work only equals to shoddiness which is what we’re reaping.
We have 6 home games (from start of March) I cant see us opening to a NLD either, so 5 really (unless cup progression) surely we are better off being perfect for August or at the earliest a last game of the season funfair?
The allure of a non-opening stadium must be a real negotiating position for Levy when trying to justify why he should be the highest paid chairman in the EPL yet the players amongst the lowest. To scared to open the stadium against the Gooners in case we get our a*ses reamed for the first match. Maybe if we had a strong enough squad and owners who had a shred of interest in football success we would be wanting to rip the Gooners apart in our new world-class arena. That is what winners would be looking to do.
I had a look round it just over 3 weeks ago , it is miles off completion , cleverly they’ve done the west stand up to where it meets the north & south so the view from outside looks like it’s nearly complete, but get round to the east side and there’s still masses to do it’s just u can’t get very close to see how bad it really is.
Thinking back to it how 62k are going to get in and out of it is going to be something to behold , the steps leading up to the south stand are miles off completion , the whole North stand is wedged in by the back of Sainsbury’s.
March opening would be a real push imo but by the looks of the enthusiasm on the builders mostly smoking and Drinking tea I can’t see the drive is there.
I am at the point where I’d say itd be better off to write the season off and start a fresh for the new season , that way we can get a pre season bedding in and an opening ceremony done properly .
My missus works in a school in the Brent catchment. They are given tickets for free, every week. The club also run coaching lessons for the kids (and talent hunt) and they even got a happy hanukkah video message from Poch himself!
Trouble is the parents are not interested enough to go to Wembley. Its a sh*t hole and not easy to get to, even for locals.
I did wonder. the reach is only just over the two ends of the south and adjoining ends of east and wet. I have wondered if the leaking roof was more of an issue than reported by the club…
Been a reader of this blog for a long time. Absolutely love your style of writing – genuinely has me in stitches at times.
As for the whole stadium fiasco, it’s an absolute farce! Little we can do but stand back and watch. It’s their reluctance to acknowledge how much of a f**k up they’ve made is what really gets me.
Anyway…we’ll see what they have to say for themselves come March…
6 games from start of March at home (assuming we don’t progress in CL and FA beyond feb)…whats the point?? At most we should simply play last game of season in new stadium, like teams showing new kits. Lets just draw a line under this and do it right!!
I’ve been saying for a while now that the sensible thing would be to finish this season at Wembley. All this drip feeding of alleged news is a total pisstake and reflects exactly the contempt that Levy/ENIC have for the fans.As mentioned by others Levy’s salary and bonus are a complete joke, particularly bearing in mind the low salaries of the players most of whom are running on fumes.
the heavy lifting could be anything, could also be there just in case. Could also be because they cant take them down yet as would need to clear the site. I cant imagine what heavy lifting could be left.
If I was Levy I would be flogging tickets for £1 to local schools. Honestly, missing a trick in a stadium that is under filled. Get the kids in and soon you could create your next gen of Spurs fans…but no, he would rather an empty stadium.
What is the cost per game now at Wembley? cant be that much as West Ham only pay £2m a year on their stadium costs. 😉
Absolute state. How is this man the highest paid chairman in the prem…
Confidently predicted a good day to Bury bad news. Except they ain’t even got the decency to provide any actual news. Once again fobbed off. How much more of this bollox can people accept? And judging from the interview afterwards, and the general lethargy of the team I think they have been told to expect the worst. How the fuck can anyone trust that lying bastard anymore???? ENIC FUCKING OUT
We still have 2 tower cranes up which tells me they are still doing heavy lifting into the bowl. The internal web cams have been off for a while to shield our eyes from the work that was left.
How they could have ever though (any normal minded human would believe) the stadium would be ready in September is laughable. Levy is a fraud, strangling the club.
He is the luckiest man in football, not only to get the pay he does but to have stumbled upon Poch and Kane at the perfect moment to prop up the on field ‘success’ we are having, which is the single saving grace. Without them, we surly would have been in free fall.
We have to think all our CL games will now be at Wembley, doubt UEFA will let us use 2 different stadia
i still get cold sweats when i remember this little fact!
Levy is feeling fan power, our gate number at the National Sports Bowl are at mediocre championship level. Club level seats being flogged for £25!
His ineptitude is draining cash out of the club. This period in our PL history really is bitter sweet
