Swansea City away, in Wales.

Word just in that Victor Wanyama has passed a late fitness test. Fingers crossed the word is accurate.

One player who will not be playing tonight or any other night this season is Harry Winks.

Winks collided with Burnley defender Stephen Ward during Spurs’ 2-0 victory at Turf Moor on Saturday and had to be carried off on a stretcher shortly before half-time.

The 21-year-old underwent a scan on Monday this week, with Tottenham confirming he will not play again this term.

“We can confirm that @HarryWinks sustained ligament damage to his left ankle during Saturday’s win at Burnley,” Tottenham said via their official Twitter account.

“@HarryWinks will continue to be monitored by our medical team during his recovery and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.”

Line ups once confirmed – a little later on.

What a great result yesterday. They were not very effective until Janssen came on and started tussling with the defenders, but the victory must reinforce their mental toughness to fight and scrap to the last minute. Like Burnley, he incessant pressure made Swansea wilt at the end, and that’s a tribute to their physical conditioning as well.

  • Camus April 6, 2017 at 10:28 am

  • SpurAndy 🍒π April 6, 2017 at 9:47 am

Thought I was a bit harsh on Sissoko last night on the blog. He’s not useless he’s just not very good. He has one of the poorest first touches I’ve seen for a professional footballer at the age he is and I don’t see it getting any better. Maybe he’s being played out of position but for the money he cost i’d expect a lot, lot better.
Thought Janssen did well and had some encouraging signs. Still not convinced he’s the answer to our striker problems however he’s got age on his side so happy to keep giving him a chance.

    • Caspurs♿️ April 6, 2017 at 9:53 am

Andy, I’ve been harsh on Sissoso from day one, why, because he’s undeniably fakin useless!
      Get a grip man!

      • gloster1861 April 6, 2017 at 9:58 am

Whatever position you play, you should have decent ball control at this level. Sissoko had a couple of moments in the game which amounted to little. Janssen’s cute back heel set up the winner so he had far more impact. His work rate was good, he must start ahead of Sissy.

Sissoko is not a winger. We moved him to the center in the second half and I thought he did better, although it was still the right decision to take him off for Jansen. Sissoko has a poor first touch and can’t cross. Passing is limited. He does however offer some strength and power in the center and can occasionally beat a man or two. It’s like how you don’t play Wanyama on the wing. Having said that against Watford I would start Jansen up front with Son, Alli and Eriksen behind him. Dembele and Wanyama/Dier behind them.

  • SeattleSpursGuy April 6, 2017 at 6:44 am

Looks like 80 points will secure second place. Five wins needed there, eight wins would be stunning but you get the feeling those cnuts Leicester will get lucky against us. If we can smash West Ham there is a decent chance the pikeys will end up in the bottom three.

  • Poxy April 5, 2017 at 11:54 pm

In defence of DD, I can vouch for the fact that David has been talking Eriksen up for quite a few weeks now actually, which initially was a surprise to me because he often used to refer to him rather dismissively as a “butterfly”! And we still don’t think of him as someone you would necessarily want in the trenches with you! No, DD’s not jumping on the Wrighty bandwagon here.

  • Poxy April 5, 2017 at 11:46 pm

Yes, Eriksen has done well and particularly tonight. Janssen, incidentally, played a part in two of the goals with clever flicks.
Shame Chelsea managed to win and I have to say that it now is most unlikely anyone is going to catch them. I wonder if anyone else has had the same feeling, but 56 years on from the double, I’m thinking that we might finish runners-up in both competitions (losing to City in the cup final)!

    • David Dillenberg April 5, 2017 at 11:48 pm

Poxy Eriksen is our silent assassin!

      • Caspurs♿️ April 5, 2017 at 11:49 pm

        Eriksen isn’t poxy!

        • gloster1861 April 5, 2017 at 11:53 pm

We need competition for him though. Must get Klaassen or Meyer. I’d be surprised if Coric comes here.

    • gloster1861 April 5, 2017 at 11:51 pm

City can’t defend. We’ll take them down.

      • Poxy April 5, 2017 at 11:56 pm

I fear that City may be owed a victory after our somewhat fortunate (if fighting) draw in Manchester.

        • gloster1861 April 5, 2017 at 11:59 pm

We owe them nothing. We’ll need Rose and Walker and the three man centre halves, and Harry up front. Our first eleven will win.

          • Poxy April 6, 2017 at 12:11 am

Of course, WE don’t owe them anything, but the fates might, which is what I was trying to say. If luck is clearly on your side in one game, it may well go against you the next time around. But not always, however!

  • gloster1861 April 5, 2017 at 11:42 pm

To me, Sissy wanders about looking aimless. Janssen knows what he wants to do and tries to bully defences. Even if he doesn’t score he is making space for others. Great back heel for Son to score.

    • Caspurs♿️ April 5, 2017 at 11:44 pm

Janssen is showing he’s beginning to understand how we play, Sissoso doesn’t appear to have a clue.

      • gloster1861 April 5, 2017 at 11:46 pm

Vinny will try to force his way past defenders with the ball, I like that.

    • baz April 5, 2017 at 11:45 pm

  • David Dillenberg April 5, 2017 at 11:16 pm

Say what you like about him but IMO the one player who has upped his game in Kane’s absence is ERIKSEN.

    • David Dillenberg April 5, 2017 at 11:20 pm

Ron lauds Dembele but for a player who acknowledges that he should score more goals he constantly fails in this connection.

    • A waddle and a fork April 5, 2017 at 11:21 pm

NBCSN but the original transmission was Premier League Extra Time, good Stream but it did buffer slightly 4 or 5 times for around 1-2 secs each.

  • Frontwheel 2 April 5, 2017 at 10:04 pm

What time’s MOTD 2 on tonight chaps?

  • Sniper April 5, 2017 at 10:02 pm

Got to sit back and admire the desire Potch has instilled in this lot. They kept battering Swansea to the end,

Many years since I’ve believed Spurs can win at that late a stage in a game. Was a joy to behold.
