Lamela: Why Won’t Spurs Tell Fans The Truth?

By The Boy -

Poor communication is worse than none at all.

Erik Lamela last played football for us back in October, 2016.

Not once have the club given a straight answer about the condition of player or even a ball park estimate on his return.

Gladys broke the extraordinary news that the kid has posture related problem from being addicted to computer games.

But this bewildering tale is the closest we’ve had to a believable scenario.

The 24 years old hasn’t even trained. Despite Spurs’ trying to palm of an elderly snap of him in training. Alas, the Champions League ball was one giveaway, another was that Clive Rose took the photo for Getty Images on the 1st of November.

We have also been fed the line that the poor guy’s dog died. I count myself as a completely lost cause when it comes to dogs. I can only describe the periods after my dogs have died in the past as ones of significant grieving. Dogs are part of your family. But nobody skips work for months on end when their pooch snuffs it.

There’s also been the ‘family problems’ guff. Everybody reading this has family problems. Many of you are currently losing your mind over right now. But nobody skips work for months on end because of them.

Three weeks ago, Poch was quoted in the Evening Standard as saying: “That is a massive improvement in the last few days. It is very powerful, because if you believe, we are all capable – if you are focused on recovering from your problem.”

To be blunt, that sounds like the sort of remark a drug counsellor or a probation officer would make.

The Evening Standard published this today which sports this image of Lamela and tells us that he’s back in training.

The photo is from August.

Or is the truth simply that when you play for Tottenham, you can spin the club any old fanny and take an extended holiday on full pay, whenever you feel like it?
