Killer Player Ratings vs the Villa: Just 2 Players Failed To Hit 7+

By The Boy -

7 Hugo untroubled but his words after Dinamo Zagreb had clearly resonated throughout the club.

7.79 Japhet Tanganga he’s mustard. Early days but as I’ve repeatedly said, he’s the one to watch/

6.72 Davinson Sanchez began with a few concerning moments but eventually the realization that Eric Dier wasn’t in the building kicked in.

7.48 Joe Rodon made a good case for more minutes. Plenty of reasons to suggest his concentration levels have improved.

6.97 Sergio Reguilon struggled with fatigue, but ultimately ought not to worry. He’s one of the good guys.

8.33 Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg T-300 series. What did you expect?

8.01 Tanguy Ndombele fiendish skills. Fiendish footballing brain. More, please.

6.97 Giovani Lo Celso every time someone posts a disparaging remark about Gio online, a small part of the world dies.

9 Lucas Moura displays lots of the characteristics that Mourinho expects. MOTM all the way?

9.3 Harry Kane encapsulates what every top-flight player OUGHT to offer.

8.00 Carlos Vinicius the slapping of the goal-post and the chest bump with Moura spoke volumes. More game time for this boy, please.

I tend to agree. That was a functional performance against a not very good Villa side which got the job done..There were the signs of togetherness that has been missing recently.

I thought the pairing of Kane and Vinny has promise. He clearly enjoyed the experience of starting with Harry and given a run of games who knows? He’s been hamstrung up till npw by his very limited cameos which have been against limited opposition.Yesterday gave him the chance to experience the intensity of PL games wgich never let up.

It’s ironic that only days before the Villa game it was announced that his to buy option would not be taken up,unless on a largely rduced price. He has the chance to make that happen as long as he is given the opportunity.

Another thing that was noticable was how high up the pitch Davies played when he came on.If this is Mourinho’s instruction to him now that’s a positive.

Neither. Both players should be shown the door in the summer.

i think a little generous in those ratings but loving the positive vibe. The back 4 struggled for a fair bit and we had moments that cost us goals in the previous 2 games that didn’t vs Villa. But it felt fresher and something that can evolve.

Amazing the difference in views on individual performances, there were holes in the performance and certain players struggled at times whilst others showed promise, however the win for Mourinho was massive.

Rather generous on Sanchez, he was rather poor. Better attacking players would take kind of his gifts. Lucas was exceptional, kudos to Tanganga, Rodon and Vinicius

Tanguy and Gio both have loads to prove. Our club record signings haven’t played enough in the 2 years and their returns have been minimal.. If Tanguy had the heart and hunger and desire that Lucas has then he would be getting man of the matches. We see it in small bursts. Flashes of brilliance in his own half surrounded by 3 players is non productive. He needs to be doing it in the final third. And start dominating that middle. He goes missing, hence Maureen taking him off, again.

All those doubting Gio will end up with the same egg on their face that seems to be flying more and more in the direction of the boat-races of those that said the same about Tangy… Gio, like Regulon is not one of the problems we have…

Lo noso.. vastly overrated & imho isnt particularly good at anything…sorry but more reliable than Alli doesn’t count… its quite clear right back & a balanced midfield have been our achilies heel since the turn of the year…hopefully Japhet has solved one of them… the other is still broken as Tanguy lacks fitness & the left side in the absence of Son is problematic… a bit square peg round holes as most of our attacking options are more effective central than out wide…

There was more team awareness with a lot of new players starting. Hopefully Vinny can get a few starts to learn from Kane and Moura has learnt to move the ball quickly. His pace is frightening.

Sorry but felt lo celso was one of the weak links today. Still not convinced on him. Seems very lightweight. His passing and shooting needs a lot of work. He was skill yes but don’t know what it is I just don’t see him yet as a world beater. A bit like bergwin lots of effort at times but weak finishes maybe it will come for both.

Just what the doctor ordered. Slightly nervy start which was to be expected and a backline that has not played together but everyone tried. Lucas was brilliant.
