International football disappeared up it’s own flue pipe some time ago.

Along with the domestic trophies it’s been eclipsed by the Champions League.

Beyond the ramblings of the urine stained Tony Adams, even Spurs fans who don’t own a tinfoil hat are wising up to the ‘Spurs Crash Out Of World Cup’ narrative that will inevitably be run should the English Lions make a mess of it in Moscow.

Harry Kane and Garteh Southgate  spoke to AFP and Kane revealed that Spurs are second place to England!

“I’d be surprised if the majority of players did not say the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world. I’d love to win everything with Tottenham, but for me personally the World Cup outweighs them all.”

Southgate has more than smattering of Alan Partridge about him, but I have say, he makes for an authentic sounding England manager.

“We hope we can send people to work the following day having enjoyed our matches. We know we are not the finished article, in fact we’re a long way from, but I think people see signs of progress and enjoy watching us and the manner in which we try to play.”

England were never a big draw for me because they always seemed hostile towards Tottenham. Perryman, Greaves, Crooks and Hoddle all ought to have had bigger international careers than they did.

If England are looking to entertain, the Spurs boys might just oblige them.

Eerily quiet on the stadium footage today. Not seen it like that, normally its bustling. Is the jig up? Finishing with original workforce safe and steady with the extra season could be the decision.

    • Sexy Beast June 12, 2018 at 7:59 pm

Read plenty of places that the PL board seem fine with us playing first few at Wembers, the clubs don’t decide on this decision the board do.

World cup. Let the games be gin

  • Nick June 12, 2018 at 7:38 pm

England won’t qualify from the group after failing to win a game, the stadium won’t be ready till January & levy will buy Wembley to play our away games

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 12, 2018 at 7:43 pm

I’m betting on Panama to do England and qualify. They are rock hard, organised and their boss is experienced in world cups. Hes been there a few times with other nations. One of their players was shot dead not so long ago. This lot are full of character. England are full of brats.

  • SeattleSpursGuy June 12, 2018 at 7:14 pm

According to Football London, a decision on whether Tottenham will return to Wembley is delayed until Friday. “The deadline, which has been extended from Wednesday by the Football Association, is now 24 hours after the 2018-19 Premier League fixtures are announced on Thursday.”

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 12, 2018 at 7:20 pm

Yep. They’re really thrashing it out. Get ready people…..

    • Sexy Beast June 12, 2018 at 7:20 pm

I think end Sept before its ready, i hope i’m wrong.
The noise coming out of the Premier League is thansat they will allow us to play a couple at Wembley then move back to the Lane, can you imagine the vitriol from all the other fans………gonna be epic!

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 12, 2018 at 7:22 pm

They’re gonna have to smash all the rules to accommodate this mess. Wonder how much extra that’s costing?

        • SeattleSpursGuy June 12, 2018 at 7:26 pm

We’ll probably have to agree to Kane not scoring in August.

Remember after the Euros the players all were well off fitness coming into pre season late, if we sign Martial he might well start up front first 2 or 3 games, that’s my thinking…..

        • Sexy Beast June 12, 2018 at 7:28 pm

Really what is the major problem? A club is building a new state of the art stadium and the build runs over a few weeks, its a football ground/stadium you have to play on a pitch with a crowd on the sides. I don’t see other that the other clubs want us to fail why it would be such a big deal. Mind you as a ST holder i would say that lol

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 12, 2018 at 7:33 pm

Berbatov and Modric were nice little surprises.

Ive just seen the cheese board menu for the new gaff and a Dairy Lea triangle is £12:50, a Mini baby bell is £16 and top of the list a Cheese-string for £18:50.

This is the biggest clue yet that we are really progressing.

  • poxy June 12, 2018 at 5:00 pm

I think England may well surprise people, perhaps getting to the last four but, like Harry, never been the greatest of England fans after leaving my first sporting hero, Jimmy Greaves, out of the team, though with greater maturity and wisdom, I have to concede that Ramsey was right to leave him out of the final; he wasn’t the greatest of team players and he wasn’t at his best after his illness in 65-66 season. (still don’t know for sure what the illness was as it has been variously attributed to influenza, jaundice and hepatitis)

  • Willie! June 12, 2018 at 4:48 pm

I like this England team. If the first XI stay fit throughout, I think they will surprise a lot of people. Reasonably good depth, size, pace, creativity. Southgate has a dilemma on his hands, Young or Rose, Cahill or Stones; Rashford Dele or Sterling.

    Julen Lopetegui new Real boss.

    • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:24 pm

Bloody hell was Pardew next on the list? Is that Real being brave? I think the Bale saga is the fact he is getting on a touch now and on close to half a million a week. Would you swap him for Eriksen as has been suggested in the media?

      • Organicpaper June 12, 2018 at 4:26 pm

no way. Id have him alongside but not as a replacement.
Bale is a risk, too injury prone and frankly too expensive for me.

        • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:29 pm

i think so too, I would walk away from trying to sign him. I would swap him for sissoko though!

    • Horndog 🇺🇸 June 12, 2018 at 5:51 pm

Guessing that one reason RM didn’t chase Poch was the specter of having to negotiate with Levy. For me, thanks Dan!

      • OrganicPaper June 12, 2018 at 6:17 pm

Well he has to have some use…even if that is being an awkward bastard!

      • Accy June 12, 2018 at 7:09 pm

        Doesn’t Poch get a say?

  • caveman June 12, 2018 at 4:08 pm

Give it a chance lads. Spurs will do business this close season. Poch meant what he said and wouldn’t have put pen to paper unless he got the assurances he wanted from Levy. It’s down to Levy to honour his promises. Poch is no mug.

    • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:22 pm

This sound pretty sensible to me. Eriksen is my concern in this.

  • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 3:38 pm

does anyone know where this “being brave” thing originated from, many people seem to be latching on to this for some reason, does anyone have a link to the original source?

    • OrganicPaper June 12, 2018 at 3:55 pm

It comes from Poch’s plea to Levy regarding signings etc.

A cynic might correlate this with the title of his book Brave New World. Just saying

      • Yippers June 12, 2018 at 4:04 pm

POCh meant be brave, we are not signing anyone so put your tin hats on and get out there

    • Teddyboy June 12, 2018 at 3:56 pm

You mean this? (around 10:50) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O1FD2Sp1Ssg?

      • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:13 pm

Thanks Teddy, now I understand, after about 10 mins of questions, he has answering his 4th consecutive question asking exactly the same thing in a different way, he starts his answer by apologising for his English language and the goes on to talk about “risks” and being “brave”. A number of people then jump on this and base the next few weeks of their lives on the fact they knew exactly what he was saying and meant even if he apologises for not always knowing what he is saying. Plankton springs to mind.

        • Ronan June 12, 2018 at 4:21 pm

What do you think he meant when he said he hoped levy would be brave and take risks?

          • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:30 pm

did he say Levy or we? i don’t know what he meant because I am not him Ronan

            • Ronan June 12, 2018 at 4:34 pm

But you’re deriding the meaning that everybody else reasonably imputed to it. Why’s that?

              • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:46 pm

Did he say We or Levy Ronan?

                • Ronan June 12, 2018 at 5:00 pm

So you haven’t got a different interpretation of what he meant, in other words. Thanks, I was just wondering.

                  • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 11:35 am

Ronan, did he say we or Levy, it is quite important, which did he say?

        • Teddyboy June 12, 2018 at 4:27 pm

Outside of the first minutes being about the Leicester match, I believe thats how press conferences work. What exactly can be inferred to brave and risks is anyones guess, fair that it woyld be about going all in. What being brave and taking risks would constitute what we are at right now, hoping for carlos kickaballs to be tempted by a free buspass, and grealish, talk about being bold.

IMO the thing holding stuff up is Eriksen, to me he was always the key to the summer ins and outs, the one of those we would most like to keep the most likely to be courted. I think when whatever is going to happens there happens things might click in or out of place. His baby and the world cup are not helping speed things along.

    • Teddyboy June 12, 2018 at 4:13 pm

He and Poch dined out in Copenhagen 5-6 weeks ago, he has a newly born son, Poch has extended contract and stated intent, Eriksen is very much a comfort zone person/player. They cleared up who was going (no-) where, everybody happy. Don’t see Eriksen move anywhere for a few pesetas more anytime soon, to chase an unknown future in a different country, with a new little family. Unless of course that was the advice Poch gave him. Nah, dont think so.

      • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 4:32 pm

hope you are right there Teddy really do. About comfort zone he might think there is less chance of being mugged at gun point in madrid than london and could take the daddy view!. Really hope he stays though

The Spurs hater hacks have been building up this narrative

By Adams’s well thought out conclusion, our bots are ‘Not winners’, so he is worried that England will fail due to this. But, not at all worried that the alternative would be Rashford, Lingard and Vardy, etc. That my friends is the voice of reason, and not the rantings of a bitter ex-gooner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  • OrganicPaper June 12, 2018 at 1:27 pm

Only Man City, Real and Barca have more players at the world cup than Tottenham and Tottenham supply more players to the current England WC squad than any other team.

The above is all the justification Baldy needs NOT to spend any of his magic little beans

    • archiisbald June 12, 2018 at 2:56 pm

Top 3 last three seasons does help him also, as does one of those seasons including 38 way games. Something must be working here. Being frustratingly slow in the market though, but it’s very complex. IMO the thing holding stuff up is Eriksen, to me he was always the key to the summer ins and outs, the one of those we would most like to keep the most likely to be courted.
