There are mumbles galore in various online places that Moutinho is on his way come the new year. Forgive me being a bundle of fun, but can anyone explain why João Moutinho would be sold to Spurs in January? Porto are in the knockout stages of the Champion’s League come February. Spurs are a club still bumbling about in the Europa.
Now please, I want him to sign for us, I really do but it seems ambitious. There’s no doubt we want him and he’d be a great fit but that’s like saying I really want a top of the range Bang & Olufsen telly and I’ve the perfect spot in mind. One turning up in my front room anytime soon is seriously unlikely.
Then there is old Pinto da Costa himself. This guy it is said would give Levy & Co a serious run for their money. He’s Villas-Boas:
Porto is an extremely difficult club to deal with. I don’t think he is a player we can afford.
I have never hidden that he is a player of tremendous qualities – there are only a few players who can come in straight away to a team and have a direct impact. Only world-class players do that and he is certainly one of them but it doesn’t mean it’s within our reach.
