Kodi boxes are dead.

Long live the other methods of obtaining illegal streams legitimate broadcasters.

Sky are to step up their game blocking URLs that provide bent coverage of games online.

This week, a man was given a suspended prison sentence and a £250,000 fine for selling “fully loaded” Kodi boxes at pubs around the United Kingdom.

Sky said: “We are pleased the English Premier League’s application to crack down on illegal streaming has been granted.

“Content piracy is theft and the success of this application is an important step in tackling the issue.

“It’s in the interests of both consumers and everyone working in the creative industries that we all take piracy seriously.

“We’ll continue to work with rights holders, government, online market places and content creators to tackle today’s piracy and make people aware of the risks it presents and the damage it causes.”

The problem that the Premier League and Sky face is quite simple. Where there’s a will, and there is a f___ing will, there is a way.

When I was living in Ireland a few years ago, hacking the NTL signal was all the rage. NTL spent untold fortunes trying to fend off those responsible.

Spurs were playing Manchester United and a minute into half time the signal went. I logged onto the forum  everyone used for hints and tips. An Admin conformed the worst. NTL had scrambled the signal.

As the teams came out for the second half, the hackers had unscrambled the feed.
