ITK Test Event Will Take Place After Man Utd Game

By The Boy -

Tottenham Hotspur’s troubled redevelopment of the stadium rumbles on, with no obvious end on sight for what has become a costly fiasco.

Six months behind schedule with every game at Wembley haemorrhaging unprecedented levels of cash, even the most obtusely sympathetic fans have lost interest in the video updates.

Neil Ashton says that the first game Premier League game of March (against Arsenal) has been ruled out by the police.

“Levy saw the Gunners clash on March 2 as an ideal grand opening. But overstretched police chiefs and security staff vetoed that idea.

Cops are keen for the first official game to go off without a hitch — and do not want the added scrutiny of a North London derby.

There are also fears visiting supporters could take “souvenirs” and leave “calling cards” at the £850million stadium.”

The Sun

The Harry Hotspur blog understands from a source close to the club that a test event at The New Destination is planned for the second half of January, on a date after our game against Manchester United on the 13th.

Security surrounding the developments inside the club have never been so high, and I am told that the senior figures are fuming that the running narrative to the build has been less than positive.

I’d suggest these senior figures try being competent now and again. If workers are taking drugs, boozing and jumping off stands in your watch, what on earth did you expect?

The real update required by supporters is detailed breakdown a final number, revealing just how much the club is in the red to.

“Generally speaking people responsible for such ineptitude get fired.”

Indeed. They do not generally receive an astonishing jump in pay from £2.84 million to more than £6 million .. more than double the amount received by any other executive on their field. Let alone be wildly applauded by an army of seals for doing so.

All of these extra and above costs are imaginary. We were always going to be at Wembley for two seasons but Levy either didn’t have the heart or the bottle to be straight about it…

Great timing… no stadium update for ages, transfer window opens “don’t worry about transfers… We finally have stadium news”. We think levy has failed, i just think his goals are different to ours, like keep them occupied and not talking about why when our squad is only 1 or 2 top players away from the title are we still not willing to buy top players!

I have been wondering how Levy has been able to keep his job based on the delays/overruns. I have never known a project of this magnitude to cost approximately twice as much as was originally estimated just for the sponsors to say “It’s ok, this kind of thing happens on undertakings of this size”. Generally speaking people responsible for such ineptitude get fired. Then it struck me – uncle Joe, ENIC, Levy and co have always thought this was really a billion pound project. They didn’t want to admit as much up front because they knew there would be uproar from the fan base. We have heard previously on this blog how significant elements of the work were never specified in detail with the contractors essentially building prototypes and then working out how to proceed accordingly. This approach may allow for innovation but it does little for cost and schedule management. I would hazard a guess that 450m was always recognized as a best case number with those in the know being well aware it would likely be at least twice that.

Doesn’t say whether it’s this January or next January…

A pre-costed, pre-planned ‘fiasco’ designed to manage expectations.

You don’t get a build of this nature almost 12 months off track unless there’s something reasonably nefarious going down…

Too soon probably but Feb 13th vs Dortmund in the CL would be a pretty special opener and would present far less away fan issues
