ITK Talking To Ajax

ITK Talking To Ajax

Glad has been a busy bee.

As per a blog a while back the Davy Klaaesen deal is thought to be very much still on. Goody gum drops says I.

What ought to be of equal interest to those claiming a devout commitment to the club ‘building’ something under Poch, is that we are contemplating using Ajax to loan some fringe players.

The Dutch club have extended an offer to take 2 of the junior boys and to that end Spurs have shortlisted 7 players which includes Carter Vickers, the boy Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters & Lee.

Panama Paul, that’s the second time you’ve posted that about Chelsea & Roman. We’re all aware of their (non)history. All I said further down was that Conte is THE form manager in the world – a damn fine one – and in my view he is building an empire (on Roman’s foundations) that will reign for a good few years in the PL. I also said that because of this, the last 2 seasons were our best (unexpected) chance of a trophy / the title.

Poch is a damn fine manager but I think Conte is better and has far greater resources at his disposal.
I’m not sure what there is to argue against?

  • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 11:51 am

Putting Chelsea into perspective:. 1882 – 1992 1 1st Div title, Spurs 2 1st Div titles. Since the Russian acquired the club in 2003 – 4 1st place finishes +1 pending and Spurs 0 titles (best finish 3rd , possibly 2nd). So Chelsea’s apparent success has coincidentally happened after getting bankrolled by a sizeable free loan form the owner. Compared to Joe Lewis, whose sole ambition appears to be the richest man in the cemetery.

    • ronwol196061 May 10, 2017 at 11:59 am

Whats that got to do with you? Does anybody tell you what to do with your money?
How much do you have Paul? Do you give charity? What do you spend it on?
Joe Lewis did by the team and we are doing better now since we have done in the sixties. Not sure what you are doing supporting Spurs if you are holding up Abramovich as the paradigm

      • Harry Hotspur May 10, 2017 at 12:23 pm

Do you really take pride in the fact that Joe Lewis could have brought us the same degree of success that Chelsea had?

Lewis is beyond wealthy. He wouldn’t have missed it and he could have still had enough left to end global poverty for good.

        • Harry Hotspur May 10, 2017 at 12:24 pm

Agree. If Harry’s interpretation is correct, then the charity’s trustees (including our favourite, Donna Cullen) have acted illegally, should be stripped of their position on the board, and possibly prosecuted. It would probably make Levy’s position untenable too. We don’t need to discuss it further, just wait for the good news.

      • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 12:39 pm

Sorry Ron, didn’t mean to hit a nerve there 🙂 . For the record, I tithe, donate to charity and my personal spending “allowance” is $15 AUS per week. So no, I’m not exactly minted. Joe Lewis is entitled to do with his money what he wants. If he chooses not to invest in Spurs then that’s his prerogative. The conclusion to draw from what I’ve said in my post is that Chelsea’s fortunes have dramatically improved because an owner invested in the club (ok, so he’s hiding his money from Putin) whereas ours hasn’t improved through non-investment (the Bale windfall notwithstanding). I just despise that fact that the so called “rich” clubs have dominated football because they could afford to hoover up the best players to win trophies and perpetuate their success.

Harry about the Wishes charity deal

I read it as you suggested. You said it was a sub division of the Tottenham Foundation.

This is what it says in the Tottenham Foundation

‘Spurs Wishes is a Club charity set up to capture and deliver the work of the Club staff, management and players to assist terminally ill fans.

We then give support and priority to charities in the local areas of our stadium and training centre.’

You say they are ‘lifting cash off people who are in need’
but is it just people in need who are putting money into the charity,It doesnt say that anywhere.
It seems like anyone can put money in.

Ron, we’re moving on from this because there appears to be a mental block with some readers when it comes to this and I really don’t need another aneurysm this week.

They are billing sick kids parents for ‘experiences’ that cost them sod all. I wish it were more complex, but it ain’t.

      • ronwol196061 May 10, 2017 at 12:52 pm

Just please clarify the one point. They money is given by whom exactly? Anyone can pay, right?
They are billing the parents what exactly?
Isnt the purpose not only to give a wish to the child but also to get charity and use that for local needs etc?

Please explain that. Its a bit too obtuse. If they get some money from the parents for some expenses, that is true of other charities like Ronald Mcdonald house in Toronto

        • Harry Hotspur May 10, 2017 at 4:14 pm

Ron, the parents of the soon to be dead child bid on the ‘mascot experience’.
The parents of the soon to be dead child have their day out (one eye win the kid).

Spurs Wishes looks after the nice money from the parents of the soon to be dead child.

THFC chargeback a hosting fee which we know includes refreshments etc.

The left over money goes to – AND ONLY TO – back into ‘Spurs Wishes’.

That bad smell you’re getting isn’t yesterday’s schnitzel.

Question. We all know the Gooners have been in disarray this season but if they lift the FA Cup and nick a CL spot have they had a more successful season than us? Also read somewhere that when the Chavs lift the PL title this season it will be the 5th time since Abramovich took over. In 16 years ENIC have managed one league cup win as a result of a ball bouncing of the back of Woodgates bonce. Welcome to the world of THFC,micro managing client reference number expectations ………..

I’m not sure that’s historically correct, but if they did get bored chasing dogs, where as dogs do not get bored chasing cats, that still suggests superior intelligence.

A dog wouldn’t be stupid enough to eat a cat claw, unlike your feline friends who swallow their own fur until they virtually choke to death.

But we’d have won a trophy & would still be in europe. That’s a difficult one as the last thing you want is players leaving, it just feels so wrong & brings us that step closer the being like the goons, top 4 repeat & nothing to show for it. Think I’ll stick with the trophy & hope it breeds further success.

Conte is building an empire by the way. Win the double, which is almost a foregone conclusion, and with yet more investment Chelsea will be THE major force in the PL for the next few years. Best manager / motivator in the world, that guy. We weren’t expecting to have one, but we’ve missed 2 chances at the title the past couple of seasons and what with the Wemble-bobbins business next season we will be lucky to make top 4 next time.

    • caveman May 10, 2017 at 10:17 am

Heard all this negativity at the end of last season. Pep arriving, Conte arriving, Arsenal will be better, Klopp will make Liverpool great again, Everton are on the up with a new owner and Koeman. Yet, this season, we finish second. Have some faith in Poch, he’s not about to collapse on his belly. COYMFS.

      • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 10:29 am

I’m happy that the Top 4 is becoming more performance based than spending based. It means that the Sky cabal will have to up their game and have to perform. The days of guaranteed Top 4 are almost over for Arsenal and Liverpool. Our Wembley issue is more mental then anything and if we can overcome it we should continue on from this season to challenge for the title (on the proviso that we attract some quality ins over the summer).

        • caveman May 10, 2017 at 10:43 am

Agreed and we have the benefit of a manager that doesn’t want to coach celeb players. He also happens to be a brilliant manager.

    • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 11:27 am

Putting Chelsea into perspective:. 1882 – 1992 1 1st Div title, Spurs 2 1st Div titles. Since the Russian acquired the club in 2003 – 4 1st place finishes +1 pending and Spurs 0 titles (best finish 3rd , possibly 2nd). So Chelsea’s apparent success has coincidentally happened after getting bankrolled by a sizeable free loan form the owner. Compared to Joe Lewis, whose sole ambition appears to be the richest man in the cemetery.

    • Harry Hotspur May 11, 2017 at 8:57 am

Come come Camus old man, what nonsense!

Chelsea are only successful because they have an evil oligarch funding them with money dirtied by the blood of ground up babies.

Surely you believe in the Spurs Way, where this club drenched in the sweet and rewarding morality of mending and making do, recruiting honest decent youngsters and boxing above our….

      It’s okay I was kidding.

Chelsea’s sole advantages are that they have a few more seats and they’d have ambition.

FFP came in 3 years ago and no amount of dull grumbling can twist or pervert that. Ancient fucking history.

Chelsea are a formidably we’ll run club. That’s the bottom line.

Conte is a natural born killer and they buy quality. I put a list up of their most successful buys in the past 3 years and they buy well and they do not buy cheap.

Our hotel (which won’t fucking work because units is located in an armpit borough) is on hold for the sake of £30m – Chelsea rarely buy players for less than that and they routinely win stuff – dear god what an nasty bunch of cunts they are!

Except they aren’t, CFC is a a player trading expert and the very template of th mod run top flight club.

We have a fucking Cheese Room.

Anyone who cannot cede that we are beyond parody needs urgent psychiatric attention.

  • Camus May 10, 2017 at 8:23 am

I had been thinking it would be a great shame to see Walker leave but I did read a piece the other day that highlighted how Trippier is at least as good if not better, statistically – across the board on chances created, tackles, interceptions etc. If that’s the case, considering we will get a princely sum for Walker to reinvest in some muck, I guess I give it my blessing. We may be able to buy Adam Smith back. And who wouldn’t go for that?

    • AccringtonSpurs May 10, 2017 at 8:30 am

Adam Smith’s stats are not bad, but when we played Bournemouth we ran rings round him.

      • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 10:31 am

Bournemouth have been hemorrhaging goals this season. I’d be more interested to see his contribution to that stat than his assists.

    • Gloster1861 May 10, 2017 at 8:39 am

Trippier will need competition. Can’t see Smith being that, merely a stop gap whilst waiting for Walker-Peters to start shaving.

      • Camus May 10, 2017 at 8:45 am

The new Kyle Naughton? Let’s face it, Davies is a stop-gap also.

        • Panama Paul May 10, 2017 at 10:33 am

Davies is an adequate left back but definitely not a wing-back. I think Rose being out has cost us, especially against the Spammers. That said, Davies was getting into better positions than Walker was in that game.

Hopefully for his sake he makes the right career move so he can develop as a player. Real Madrid isn’t going to be his best option and there won’t be too many clubs who can afford to pay what Monaco would want for him (Man U had a 70m bid knocked back).

Nope. Spurs should foot the bill if they want to give a dying child a day out as a mascot. But they are asking others to pay. How is that noble? Others fund raise and give it to THFC and then, and only then, does the kid get his ‘wish’.
Its very simple and rather disturbing.

Sir, I respectfully suggest to you that you have got hold of the wrong end of the stick, entirely. Your servant… etc etc.

    • Gloster1861 May 9, 2017 at 11:23 pm

I read everything on the web to see the context. As far as I can discern, an eBay auction has raised ten grand from a punter who has secured four tickets. This cash then goes to a charity who are not THFC, who will use this money to enable a terminally child to be a mascot and three others will be in that group. So THFC provided four tickets as a prize, but will get a large slice of ten grand back from the charity (there are other costs apparently) for the mascot activity. So the net effect is 8 tickets (4+4) in return for a chunk of money running to thousands.

So not too shabby for the club. Hardly out of pocket are they?

      • Spurstacus 💋 May 9, 2017 at 11:49 pm

That is certainly one of the interpretations that has been suggested. I think it’s much simpler and far less arch.

The Club have given Wishes a mascot package that Wishes have auctioned on Ebay. The auction was directed at any ‘Spurs Supporting Family’. The proceeds of the auction will help to fund the charitable outreach work (*experiences*) that Wishes does with terminally ill fans. All kinds of work with all kinds of terminally ill fans.

Wishes does not charge for the experiences given to the terminally ill.

The Club are not asking / expecting the families of terminally ill fans to buy an experience.

        That is my understanding.

              • Gloster1861 May 9, 2017 at 10:37 pm

Nope. Spurs should foot the bill if they want to give a dying child a day out as a mascot. But they are asking others to pay. How is that noble? Others fund raise and give it to THFC and then, and only then, does the kid get his ‘wish’.

Its very simple and rather disturbing.

Digressing Trump has dismissed FBI director James Comey, White House says.
“Today, President Donald J Trump informed FBI Director James Comey that he has been terminated and removed from office,” said a White House statement.
The surprise move comes after it emerged Mr Comey gave inaccurate information about Hillary Clinton’s emails to Congress last week.
Mrs Clinton has blamed Mr Comey for her election defeat to Donald Trump.
        (BBC News)

        • gus May 9, 2017 at 11:07 pm

Can he do that? I didn’t think the President could fire the FBI Director

          • gus May 9, 2017 at 11:09 pm

Apparently he can but it has only happened once in over 100 years! Clearly Comey has served his purpose tilting the election to Trump and now he’s trying to tie off loose ends. Not a good look

Football insider suggest that we’re in for Mahrez. At 26 he’s got some good years in him

    • David Dillenberg May 9, 2017 at 10:26 pm

Leicester value the 26-year-old winger at around £30million, and are in a strong negotiating position having only tied him down to a new contract back in August.
That deal ties Mahrez down at the King Power Stadium until 2020, but the player is reported to have been promised a move this summer by previous manager Claudio Ranieri.
      (Metro)

      • Gus May 9, 2017 at 10:27 pm

He’s smart, and was an important cog of their championship winning team. I’d take him

            • David Dillenberg May 9, 2017 at 10:39 pm

Theoretically any exchange deal involving Willian joining Spurs would be tempting but that wont happen so not sure why I mentioned it not least because the 2 clubs dont do biz.

              • danspurs May 9, 2017 at 10:45 pm

      • David Dillenberg May 9, 2017 at 10:31 pm

As quality a player he is sorry to disappoint but just like ISCO IMO Mahrez destination will not be WHL.

    • Gus May 9, 2017 at 10:20 pm

Levy is standing firm that all players, including Walker, are on contract. Probably a tactic to drive up the price

      • Spurstacus 💋 May 9, 2017 at 10:22 pm

The standing firm is the tactic, or the players being on contracts?

        • Gus May 9, 2017 at 10:26 pm

Talking tough hopefully. If Walker wants out get as much money as possible, he’s replaceable. No need for another player eroding his trade value in the reserves

  • Gloster1861 May 9, 2017 at 10:18 pm

Ajax want £21million for captain Davy Klaassen.

The attacking midfielder has been the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs with Everton among them.Klaassen, who has scored 15 goals this season, hopes to guide Ajax to another Dutch title as they chase leaders Feyenoord and finish with a Europa League final potentially against Manchester United.

Evening all, you Bonzo bodonkos. So we finally getting rid of that useless excuse for a right back. (Relatively speaking of course). Three at the back, Pocho lacked some courage there, methinks. Therefore Bonzo not needed, Trippier the man and a younger understudy from the youth ranks will do. If Pocho has not managed to improve him in three years, nobody gonna.
With regards to Ajax, really, taking our youngies to the fountain of eternal youth?

  • spurs108 May 9, 2017 at 9:09 pm

Levy met with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust recently and was quizzed whether the side’s progression meant improved contracts off the pitch – but the chairman was not in the mood to be held to ransom.

“DL (Daniel Levy) said that all players were under contracts, contracts they were happy to sign at the time,” the THST minutes read.

“They would be expected to honour those contracts. They wouldn’t have had a reduction if things had gone badly.”

    • Harry Hotspur May 9, 2017 at 9:24 pm

Levy is a Grade A moron.

People cheering the contract extensions are morons.

The last man to waive a piece of meaningless paper about so energetically was Neville Chamberlain.

Went to the gym today for the first time in 5 years. Did a ‘circuit’ on three machines:- rowing, running and skiing. A minute on each. Job’s a good ‘un.

I was my normal self going in but when I left the gym I was very Shaky. The full works:- Brylcreem, quiff, double-denim and white trainers. I cried, just a little bit.

    • Stevo1987 May 9, 2017 at 9:21 pm

Rowing is bad for my back. Running is bad for my knees and skiing in bad for my ankles. My wife says there is only one part left of my body that functions as it should. She said it’s not my brain.

      • mikespurs May 9, 2017 at 9:27 pm

        Mouth then?

      • Dusty May 9, 2017 at 9:29 pm

THE BRAIN SAID : Since I control everything and do all the work I should be boss.

THE FEET SAID: Since I carry man where he wants to go and get him to do what the Brain wants, I should be boss.

THE HANDS SAID: Since I must do all the work and earn all the money to keep all the rest of you going, I should be boss.

THE EYES SAID: Since I must look out for all of you and tell you where danger lurks, I should be boss.

And so it went with the Heart, the Ears, and the Lungs.

Finally the Asshole spoke up and demanded that he be boss. All the other parts laughed and laughed at the idea of an asshole being boss.

The Asshole was so angered that he blocked himself off and refused to function. Soon the Brain was feverish, the Eyes crossed and ached, the Feet were too weak to walk, the Hands hung limply at his side, the Heart and Lungs struggled to keep going.

All pleaded with the Brain to relent and let the Asshole be boss, and so it happened. All parts did the work and the Asshole just bossed and passed out a lot of shit.

MORAL: You don’t have to be a brain to be boss, just an Asshole.

        • mikespurs May 9, 2017 at 9:32 pm
