Legendary football agent Pini Zahavi met this week with Toby Alderwiereld to discuss the player’s possible post-Tottenham future.

Toby’s agents are Stirr Associates who have a mission statement that one can imagine appealing to our Toby.

‘At Stirr Associates we give you that control. Coming from a background as lawyers, we inform our clients of the whole truth. Full disclosure, so you know what really goes on in the world of so-called agents, clubs and transfers. But also completely confidential and professional within a long-term vision. Because we actually look further than your next transfer.’

So Zahavi met with the our 29 year old in his frequent capacity as ‘fixer’.

For whom, is the killer question.

Israeli Zahavi has more fingers in more pies than that little Jack horner guy.

The Harry Hotspur blog was told this week that the odds of Alderweireld still being a Tottenham player in the summer are ‘negligible’.

Spurs have recently taken options on the contracts of both Toby and Jan Vertonghen.

Regrettably, this is not good news.

This is the heralding of another couple of cash sellouts by ENIC.

This the heads-up before further attempt to squeeze the pips out of Mauricio Pochettino’s talent – by replacing class with ‘prospects’.

    • East Stand January 7, 2019 at 9:01 am

It’s a complicated thing now when it doesn’t have to be.

Everyone knows when Spurs fans sing it it’s always been done in defiance of bigotry within the realms of terrace humour. When opposition fans do it it’s the opposite.

The problem is that football fan culture has always been tounge in cheek until it becomes racist and that line is crossed. Our fans using the ‘Y’ word has never, ever been that.

The world has changed and there’s less humour than ever. People that run football like most things are dull, unimaginative gimps led by lawyers and spin doctors…

      • Aussie in Switzerland January 7, 2019 at 10:50 am

In light of the facist leftist language police these days, we should never stop singing it.

Have we bought any players yet?

      • Tappaspur January 7, 2019 at 11:34 am

Jews use that word amongst themselves in the same way the brothers use the n word. I can understand how it pisses us/ them off. I’m torn. I never say/use that word. I only sing it in a football stadium. Can I stop singing it? Ooooooow dunno man. Is it my responsibility to be a good grandparent and stop singing it and stop my little little ones to stop from doing so too??? Why you getting so deep man! 🙂

I’ve never thought we were in it because of the comparable spend. However, pleasantly surprised to be in the conversation and anything’s possible but we’ll need to win at both of their gaffs away to Stand any chance.

I think it’s a step too far considering all the stadium and zero signings shenanigans but of course we’ll see…

He also probably gets big bonuses for it too.

  • East Stand January 6, 2019 at 11:13 am

Anyone noticed how the intensity of the Poch to Manure talk has calmed in the media since he said that he wants to win something with Spurs?

Ole is getting a tune out of them already, so the idea of the ‘magic Poch’ being fast tracked to Utd isn’t looking so feasible.

The media is mainly funded by betting companies so getting all the thick gamblers to lump on Poch as the next Utd boss is the plan.

Today’s media = wastes of space.

Yeah, Scandinavia have a different outlook. However, smaller population, more space and a very different industrial history to us.

The UK was basically all built during an 80-100 year period and the whole layout isn’t really conducive to these continental methods.

The ‘bendy buses’ for example, everyone thought they were a bad idea and guess what? All gone, not right for our road layout.

                  • Tappaspur January 6, 2019 at 9:31 pm

I knew you’d say something like that AIS. There is however in this case a small crumb of truth in your theory.

Councils and the government should more time and money doing stuff that’s for everyone rather than dicking about catering for this lot and that lot.

One people, treat everyone as one whatever you do the rest of the time is up to you. This idea of ‘diversity’ is actually dividing society even more. It’s a load of nonsense, how long before the penny drops?

        • Tappaspur January 6, 2019 at 9:37 pm

As long as there is one law of the land its all good. One size dont fit all and we are not all left handed. Live and let live rules ok.

          • East Stand January 6, 2019 at 10:53 pm

Of course but society needs to spend more time concentrating on what people share in common rather than constantly ‘celebrating’ the differences. Where’s it getting us?

            • Tappaspur January 6, 2019 at 11:54 pm

If peoples differences weren’t celebrated/highlighted how would we get to understand them? We’re all the same really. Its Just ignorance and greed that spoils humankind. Most people kool man. Apart from ignorant and greedy people. Commonly known as c u n t s. Keep your culture share your culture whilst respecting the culture of the people in the country in which you live. Then every ting bless. Thats my take on it anyway.

    Interesting week ahead for THFC.

Spurs have a meet with Vincente Spurs (the non-racist, but 100% autistic lad) and his father on Wednesday.

If they handle this correctly, it could turn into a positive and helpfully educational situation for all involved.

Were you instrumental in assisting to get this set up, H ? This could be very good.

    • MiT January 6, 2019 at 6:23 am

My apologies for forgetting to quote H’s part.

    • Harry Hotspur January 6, 2019 at 10:55 am

      Yes buddy.

I did what I keep telling Spurs to do, and took control of the story.

So hopeful that Wednesday goes how we would like it to. This could be a massive triumph for common sense.

      • MiT January 6, 2019 at 6:26 pm

Hopefully the father can serve as a solid advocate.

This is not a young man with any racial intent whatsoever.

This is a young man who only naturally understands and analyses logic. Action and response, zeros and ones.

Flood him with emotional or illogical stimuli, and he loses all ability to respond with any sort of predictability. He suddenly has no answer, no previous guideline, and can only respond to nonsense with nonsense.

This is a kid who reacted to a flood of what to him was nonsensical stimulus with a behavioral mimic that also made no sense to him at the time he first witnessed it.

This is a situation where there is no cookie cutter response. It is certainly not an opportunity for a heavy-handed reaction designed only to appease the hive-minded.

Just take a timeout, thfc. Don’t be so quick to go public. This doesn’t fit into your black-and-white law books.

  • peterballb January 6, 2019 at 12:57 am

I would expect as Toby would meet with any and every agent that would be able to get him the best possible deal in his “last” contract. So, hardly surprising. 30 in March. Not sure about number of years (presume at least to 35). That said, if iTK is correct, he is looking to be the best paid CB in the EPL. I cannot see that. Whatever he gets Verts must get similar and neither are the best. Excellent, not the best. Market value, as per Transfermarkt is 40M Euros. Van Dijk (2 years younger, and I would argue better) is valued at 75M. Alderweirald and Vertonghen are excellent, but are clearly slowing. Both deserve improved and longer contracts – say 3 more years each (which would take them to June 2023) at 150k/week. If what they want is more than that, it’s too much. Sanchez is the real deal. Foyth needs some seasoning, but he is not far off. Eyoma, in pre-season, was a long way off. Did ok yesterday, but hardly PL opposition. CCV I like, though I am not convinced he will be top PL quality. Tough decisions need to be made. If we keep Verts and get 25M GBP for Alderweirald, not the end of the world, and a great deal if we can sell him outside of the PL.

As for the Bale deal and the magnificent 7, we sold him for 85M GBP and spent 100M GBP on 7 players. We already recouped 50M GBP in player sales. Eriksen and Lamela are easily valued at 80M GBP together so we did ok. Bale had 42 goals and 20 assists while at Spurs. Lamela has 14 goals and 22 assists while Eriksen has 45 goals and 55 assists for Spurs, all PL only. From magnificent 7 players, we scored 24, 24, 15, 9, 12, 8 (so far this year) in the PL. Bale for Eriksen was probably a wash. We did ok. Whether Eriksen will remain, who knows? We will get market value or above, regardless.

We are paying players more. That does not change whether they should remain within our pay structure. Kane is at 200k/week. Everyone else must fit in below. Fair enough

Better than the magnificent 7 was surely the stealth wunderbar signing of Jurgen Klinsmann aboard Sir Alan Sugar’s luxury yacht? Literally quickly hitting the ground running. Prolific striker.

    • East Stand January 5, 2019 at 11:25 pm

That’s exactly the kind of signing we do need. Proven, experienced and a winner.

“Eriksen my lud was also a bargain, best buy of the “magnificent 7”

Given that he was the only one of the 7 who turned out any good at all, I’d argue that in real terms Erikson’s price was the full cost of all 7 minus what we got back when we sold them on. Don’t ask me to remember, research, or give a shit what that figure is, but I suspect ‘bargain’ won’t accurately describe it.

    • Tappaspur January 5, 2019 at 10:51 pm

They have, fair point but you’ll notice there has been no Director Of Football in sight when those two were signed. Which also begs the question, why has Levy insisted on having one before? Hasn’t got a clue about football…

DOF’s get far too much credit in my opinion, anyone with a bit of knowledge coupled with common sense could do that job.

It’s just a pointless device designed to con the fans that the board aren’t overseeing transfers. When it goes wrong they get the boot and the board are ‘free’ from blame.

A DOF is generally just someone to fall on their sword and deflect blame from the owners…

    • East Stand January 5, 2019 at 11:14 pm

      You’re spot on US.

That splurge that Baldini undertook with the Bale money was hit and hope at best, and you’re right, Eriksen’s fee wasn’t a ‘bargain’ of any sort in the same way as Lamela’s wasn’t.

The rest read like a list of players that disappeared off the face of the football king planet; Chadli, Chiches, Capoue, Paulinho, Soldado.

Eriksen was just the best of a bad bunch and to this day, I’m not sure he’s ever been particularly well suited to the Premiership…

      • Tappaspur January 5, 2019 at 11:57 pm

Got a horrible feeling city are gonna be making a serious attempt at Toby. Fits perfectly for them, not bothered about a resale, and for all they are a great team still iffy at the back. He goes there and that ends there and then. No problem paying him, I can see it coming. And we know slappy don’t care who’s cash he takes as long as he takes.

    • Dan January 5, 2019 at 9:35 pm

If he stays in the epl and wants success on the pitch then they are the obvious choice as no other team can truly guarantee it , if he’s just after a paycheque then utd /Chelsea I guess . Hopefully he goes abroad as seeing him in another shirt in the league would not be enjoyable.

    • East Stand January 5, 2019 at 11:20 pm

Besides, we’ll have a cheese room soon… so there!!

  • Billy the yid January 5, 2019 at 9:03 pm

How many times are we gonna have to listen to the bollox that Toby has taken a dump on poch and its him who wants him out the club?? I’m not a psychology student far from, but if he was soooo mad with Toby that he is saying I don’t trust him, why does he play him then? If it was that offensive to him surely he’s just gonna say right pack your bags? A far more believable version of events is Toby had the nerve to ask for his worth, at which point slappy had to admit that due to the fact he’s been paying electrician’s far far to much for far far to long he can’t afford to pay the playing staff. Of course if the prick had got the stadium open when he said he wouldn’t have this situation. Just a thought. ENIC OUT

The borough handed out a good few scarfs earlier to the younger kids who didn’t have one. Beautiful thing.

    • Marsinho January 5, 2019 at 9:19 pm

I would like to hand over a few ropes to ENIC who don’t have one upstairs just so they can go hang themselves.

      • Tappaspur January 5, 2019 at 9:35 pm

        Aint paying them any mind mate. Just like I dont politicians. All w a n k e r s.

        • Marsinho January 5, 2019 at 9:41 pm

Unfortunately these particular wankers are running our club and we can’t help take note tapa.

          • Tappaspur January 5, 2019 at 9:46 pm

I gave up throwing stones at tanks years ago. Just gotta roll with it. I dont stress myself out over things I have no control over. Not worth it.

            • Tappaspur January 5, 2019 at 9:49 pm

If I was paying £2k a season I wouldn’t be happy though. As I said once “my Hotspur habit only cost me a few hundred quid last year. The new place im only gonna go with community tickets.

Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack?

Well the F.A. Cup is on fire tonight. All the teams doing their best to kill it dead. On this and last blog, I , and I’m not alone I think, am fed up with this ex Football club being run like a political party. We are spun, manipulated and emotionally managed year round. Wakey wakey yidos??

    Interesting week ahead for THFC.

Spurs have a meet with Vincente Spurs (the non-racist, but 100% autistic lad) and his father on Wednesday.

As ridiculous as it might sound, they bungle this, and I’ll rip their spines out. Again and again and again.

    • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? January 5, 2019 at 7:15 pm

Can’t imagine how that meet will go.
      Spine platter.

      • Harry Hotspur January 5, 2019 at 7:43 pm

Well I didn’t get an invite 😆 but then we kinda took that as a given!

    • MrChickenHead January 5, 2019 at 10:09 pm

      What spines, keep searching.

Spurs could no worse than take a punt on the tireless tigerish Blackburn top scorer, Brackley Dack who heads Blackburn in front against Newcastle.

    • dilly January 5, 2019 at 7:05 pm

      *Bradley

      • dilly January 5, 2019 at 7:08 pm

All action busy midfielder, Bradley Dack.

        • East Stand January 5, 2019 at 7:50 pm

Why do you keep punting mid table players that could ‘do a job’ for Spurs rather than what we actually need, which is world class players?

I cannot see a player like that improving us whatsoever, let alone get in our first 11…

Dilly is an eternal optimist, bless him.

              Bless his lunacy!

          • Dan January 5, 2019 at 8:33 pm

To be fair dilly is being more realistic than optimistic with these cheap , useless bastards

          • dilly January 5, 2019 at 9:29 pm

In case it escaped you Easty Alli was relatively cheap. Whats my point recruiting Alli from lower league!

The football the fans and those on the pitch
F u c k the w a n k e r s who are making them selves rich! Thats how I see it. I’ve made my mind up. I’m not going back to Wembley much for the rest of the season. Coles park and the lamex for me. Its all about the fans and the FOOTBALL there. I’m looking forward to Monday evenings spurs vs pool clash. The art of football is a beautiful thing gaz. Dont let the w a n k e r s stop you from enjoying it.
