ITK On Toby’s Contract Rejection/Buy Out Clause

ITK On Toby’s Contract Rejection/Buy Out Clause

Gladys is convinced that there is some majorly duff information doing the rounds in relation to Toby Alderweireld.

Gianluca Di Marzio is one of the responsible parties. He’s convinced that the Belgian has told Spurs that he’s letting his contract run down because he wants to leave Spurs.

Another ‘expert’, Belgian hack Kristof Terreur is convinced that Toby has a £30million buy-out clause (and here’s the inventive bit) which is only valid/can be activated in 2019.

Glad’s understanding is that our boy is in fact quite happy at Spurs and all of this is rather limp conjecture based upon nothing more than his contract hasn’t been extended – because there is no logical urgency to do so right now.

Levy does not do buy out clauses and the player is in not disgruntled in any way.

Toby Alderweireld is currently contracted to play for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club until 2020.

Levy has Toby tied down, why all the Kerfuffle ?
If we need to tie him down a while longer we just send in our not expert.

    Arsenal still have

    Leicester
    Spurs
    United
    Southampton
    Everton

amongst their remaining fixtures. They could end up in 8th. A mid-table team.

    • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 12:08 pm

I see them winning 3 or 4 out of the 5.
      Foxes (win)
      Saints (win)
      Everton (win)
      Manure 50/50
Lose to Spurs but local derby 50/50 on draw

      • AccringtonSpurs April 20, 2017 at 12:17 pm

I can see them losing 3 or 4 of those 5.

        • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 12:20 pm

          Dilly can’t.

          Funny, that.

        • Ronwol1960-61 April 20, 2017 at 12:27 pm

I think things change quickly so better wait to see how we do with them in the semi final. I think we have turned the corner but I don’t underestimate them. Psychological factors are huge in sports so lets see if their last few games have had an effect on them meanwhile we need to carve our name in stone.

          • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 12:35 pm

They’re talking about Arsenal, Ron … not Chelsea.

  • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 11:39 am

Harry Redknapp said recently that Tottenham would win the title within four years. As usual he was talking b*llocks.

    We’ll win it within two.

    • Freund or Foe April 20, 2017 at 11:43 am

So still within 4 years then.

      • 61SpursNut🌰 April 20, 2017 at 11:45 am

Also within ten, for what it’s worth.

    • Ronwol1960-61 April 20, 2017 at 11:46 am

I think you said one before Taff if I’m not mistaken

    • AccringtonSpurs April 20, 2017 at 11:50 am

United will strengthen again in some ridiculous fashion which I believe will propel them to the top of the table. If we strengthen in the right way we’ll stand a chance of competing for top 4 in the next two years. But Wembley and getting used to our new stadium the following year may hinder our progress I would’ve thought.

      • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 11:53 am

They strengthened in some ridiculous fashion last year as well, for all the good it did them. No amount of money they spend in the future will enable them to come close to the sense of cameraderie that Pochettino is fostering at Tottenham.

  • AccringtonSpurs April 20, 2017 at 11:00 am

Got to play Wanyama on Saturday to keep Kante quiet – can’t see Dier doing that. So that would mean a back 3. Move to a back 4 around the 60 minute mark and bring Son on to score the winner.

    • Ronwol1960-61 April 20, 2017 at 11:50 am

I’m interested to see the line up and how we set it up.I think there are more blades of grass at Wembley and so maybe the counter maybe better. therefore 4 at the back but using the more accurate Trippier for me to expand and Jan to hit the long ball.
Wanyama just in front of the back four with Dier and Dembele playing up and down

      • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 12:02 pm

Ron where does playing Son fit into the equation?

        • Ronwol1960-61 April 20, 2017 at 12:34 pm

If Poch plays 4 at the back and 3 in the middle we are one man short of what we have been doing so I guess that leaves just Eriksen,Dele and Kane.
It tightens up the game and maybe that’s what is needed at Wembley and then bring on Son at some point to attack.
I’m not sure whether we should stick to what we have been doing and go with 6 instead of 7 in defence/midfield and this can kick on with Son added to these 3 but this is the big question of tactics and especially at Wembley

  • MM April 20, 2017 at 10:37 am

    Watched it last night
Interesting that Daniel said despite the new stadium, it’s what happens on the pitch that matters.
Time to back Poch in the market then

  • Still Nil Nil April 20, 2017 at 10:37 am

just seen the premier league team of the season.
Bonzo and rose in as full backs.
But Cahill and sideshow bob as centre halves??? They’re not better than verts and Toby as a unit.
Plus neither Spurs or the racists play a back 4 (mainly).
Then the twat presenting challenges the decision to have Kane in instead of zlatan.
Maybe it’s cos Kane is better right now?
Kane’s missed a third of the season and still scored more than shite sports favourite clubs striker.
They just can’t let it go that Spurs right now are better than manure.
They hate it that Spurs have infiltrated the shite sports 4 bloc.
And if things continue as it has, it will remain so.

I have come to a decision.

It’s is one that has been carefully thought through and succinct in its delivery.

Shite sports and all connected to them are a bunch of cunts.

    Said a police spokesman.

    • Still Nil Nil April 20, 2017 at 10:41 am

      And de gea in goal???

Sums up my thoughts on the views in the heirachy of the fa, the premier league and media that they know fuck all and are indeed a flock, nee a bastard bunch of cunts of the highest order.

      • 61SpursNut🌰 April 20, 2017 at 10:43 am

It’s all very well flowering it up with veiled compliments but what do you REALLY think?

        • Still Nil Nil April 20, 2017 at 10:58 am

I’ve had to hold back Nutty as it’s not in my nature to be controversial.

    • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 11:55 am

Does anyone on here rate Cahill at all? He’s a decent enough centre half but he’s some way removed from being out of the top drawer as far as I’m concerned.

Alderweireld and Vertonghen are easily the best centre back pairing in the land and quite probably in Europe as well.

      • 61SpursNut🌰 April 20, 2017 at 12:00 pm

        He’s shit. ©️ Harry Hotspur

      • Harry Hotspur April 20, 2017 at 12:04 pm

If we had Cahill we’d be cooing over him. Think how long it took us to ‘assemble’ Verts and Toby.

Gardner, Doherty, Dawson, Woodgate, Bassong, Kaboul, Fazio…

Cahill suddenly looks like Lionel Messi.

        • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 12:06 pm

          I prefer Michael Keane.

        • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 12:10 pm

You might be cooing over him. I certainly wouldn’t be. Comparing him to even shittier defenders is one way to make him look good, though. I’ll give you that.

And Cahill’s not fit to lace Dawson’s boots.

          • Harry Hotspur April 20, 2017 at 12:14 pm

That ‘hall of fame’ is all of ’em bar King and Campbell. It makes for abject reading and there’s a common denominator. They were all cheap.

Cahill stuck out like a sore thumb at Bolton and he’s been a typical Chelsea player – reliable.

            • UnkleTaff April 20, 2017 at 12:16 pm

He’s just a shit John Terry.

          • Harry Hotspur April 20, 2017 at 1:19 pm

Is that why Dawson’s at Hull City?

        • Freund or Foe April 20, 2017 at 12:13 pm

I think you exaggerate Harold. We`ve had much better CB`s than Cahill.
King, Mabbs, Gough, that`s 3 in the last 30 years. A veritable plethora.

          • Harry Hotspur April 20, 2017 at 12:17 pm

I picked our CBs during Levy’s tenure.

There’s little value in comparing players from different centuries.

These sorts of rumours abound because we were seen as a club that have promise but no real ambition by the press slags so basically get in good players then ley cashes in right back to Teddys days but since pochs arrival he has developed a young vibrant squad who are all on longer term contracts to secure the future ?? So has Levy finally turned to not sell are best players or am I just being delusional ???

  • East Stand April 20, 2017 at 8:28 am

The transfer rumour mill seemed to reach its height about 10 years ago. I reckon people are bored by it now and also you don’t see these huge late window deals anymore, the financial crisis probably changed that reckless abandon forever.

    • gus April 20, 2017 at 9:05 am

      Too much false news!!

  • East Stand April 20, 2017 at 8:23 am

What contract would any club agree to that would allow a player to leave at a fixed price in the future?

Toby was good on his loan at Saints but there was nothing to suggest that he held the clout to demand such bullshit in his Spurs deal. Totally agree, Levy would rather put his nuts in a vice than agree to that…

    • MysteriousStranger April 20, 2017 at 8:27 am

One which secures them the services of said player who otherwise wouldn’t join them, for example where there is perhaps third party ownership. Unless you weren’t actually asking the question.

      • East Stand April 20, 2017 at 8:29 am

Imaginative? Ok, why not try and be more imaginative than following me around like a bad smell and perhaps ‘troll’ might apply to you less.

It might seem tedious and unimaginative to be labelled a troll but I’m afraid there is no other apt enough description of what you are doing. I’m not the first to have labelled you as such either, you have plenty of previous…

You think you can make little snide comments of your own but you can’t take a little back without lashing out and repeatedly calling ME a troll every couple of months? Here you are trying to snake your way to denying you were having a little pop at me along with added bullshitting about how I follow you around and the like:

              East Stand
Whatever made you think I was referring to him? I can hardly blame you though, he does seem to follow me around. I think he’s a fan of old Easty ‘s wisdom, truth be told. Just too proud to admit it.😂

No, Easty. Don’t make any more mistakes, or silly accusations. So we can have complete clarity, I’m not a fan of “old Easty’s wisdom”. Sometimes I think you talk out of your arse. That’s all.

              • East Stand April 20, 2017 at 3:33 pm

No no, you single out my comments and you make snide remarks. You follow my comments and feel compelled to involve yourself, I’m not making you do that.

I’d much rather you didn’t and the reason why I mentioned you is precisely because you have popped up again like an annoying zit. You don’t want me to make snide comments? You know what to do…

Hypothetical scenario just to see what you guys think. Would you swap Dier for: Rashford+ £40 million ?
or say Rashford + Martial ? or along these lines, where we gain two players which we also need. If not would you sell for £80-£100 million ? At what point would you think it’s ‘worth it’ ?
BTW goes without saying I don’t want him to go, however there is a point it should be considered…or not.

Never ever sell Dier because Dele might start looking elsewhere 👀

    • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 8:26 am

Re: Dier: £80M would probably clinch the deal. Manure offer £40M (rejected). We want £80M (rejected). Ok lets split the difference at £60M-£65M for Dier. Manure accept or rejects it or Levy holds out for £70M?

      • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 8:29 am

Big Caveat: Never sell to your rivals!

      • MysteriousStranger April 20, 2017 at 8:32 am

No. Let’s not sell Dier. Unless we want to sell Dele. Do we want to sell Dele? No. Do we want to sell Dier? No.

So, I’m saying no. The only consideration will come with the player or players actually saying “I want to leave Spurs and further my career/play for my boyhood Spanish Galactico club and make lots more money than I can earn at Spurs” etc.

        Until that happens – No!

        • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 8:35 am

Agreed Dier is a key player. Seen by some on here as a possible future captain we would be weaker without him and must keep all our best players.

          • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 8:44 am

The players to be sold in the summer are those names repeatedly mentioned in dispatches.
            N’jie
            Nocluedo
            Sissy
            Possibly Janssen and Wimmer.

            • Still Nil Nil April 20, 2017 at 10:29 am

Why Janssen and wimmer? Whenever Wilmer’s played he’s stood up to the plate and done very well. What’s better elsewhere as a better back up?
Janssen is improving. He also adds a great deal to our forward play bringing others in who do score off his layoffs. Plus he’s started to play more central rather than keep drifting out wide which has helped his game and he gets fouled due to his strength getting vital fee kicks in dangerous areas as well as relieving any pressure (home game v Southampton as an example of this).

              • David Dillenberg April 20, 2017 at 10:46 am

Nilly whilst I fully concur with your comments depending on Poch’s summer transfer budget he may need to sell some players to generate extra funds to strengthen the side.

          • gus April 20, 2017 at 9:14 am
