That said, West Ham did arrive relatively unarmed and whilst Carroll was an obvious threat, even his human cannonball act failed to make any real impact.
Bilic made a double substitution and it had no bearing on matters whatsoever. They missed Payet like we used to miss Bale.
And there you have it.
They were a one man team, but that one man didn’t actually make the party; we were an 11 man team that really did appear to enjoy sharing the ball and working for each other.

There were obvious heroes, but special mentions (not at the cost of anyone else) to both Son and Mason.
Son really worked incredibly hard, which is tremendous when you combine that with the fact that he is clearly such thoughtful chap.
Mason’s arrival was great and boy did he take the 20 minutes he was afforded by the scruff of the neck. His introduction was seamless, right down to his chutzpah which so very nearly earned him a goal.
