Hunting Ban Revoked

Hunting Ban Revoked

I never had a problem with the Foxes winning the league. In fact, I don’t have a problem who or how anyone wins anything. Moralising after the event is called ‘sour grapes’

Football teams are not obliged to fulfil some convoluted criteria in order to be allowed their win.

There’s no Wiki ‘They won but…’ page just as there’s no ‘We nearly won …’ page.

So what I enjoyed about last night was thumping the reigning champions, away, and Spurs not really having a MOTM. Yes, Kane score 7 times, I get that, but the point being, this was yet another collective deal, another team effort.

God dammit, even Dele Alli was dripping with esprit de corps last night.

No, Leicester weren’t very good. Yes there are serious questions to asked about the mentality of a group that can win the league, then engineer the dismissal of their manager, then avoid relegation and proceed to coast the rest of their season.

Tottenham are the second best team in the league. And they’ve earned that. It’s been a comparatively remarkable season, one which has raised the bar.

The next step ought be consolidating this and winning something but with Wembley ahead of us, the odds are suddenly abysmal.

I’m also unconvinced by the rebuild of The Lane.

If Spurs can get the better of these two sizeable obstacles then they have an improved future. If聽the future is Winks and聽Lesniak Spurs may well have a promising one.

You go away on holiday. You reach the hotel in a city youve never been to before.Sure you read about it and got the map but it doesnt feel comfortable, not the hotel or the room.

Wembley is different to the lane. There is no question. But its not fucking Mount Everest. Its another football stadium. Of all the teams that have lost there, the same amount have won there. We lost 8 of 9 and they won 8 of 9 (I didnt check if there was any draws) Its going to be our home so we better make it comfortable for us.Bring a few of our own pillows, some music we are used to.
Son will have no problem,Im sure. Eriksen might. Son came from Korea to German, dealt with that and then went to London and dealt with that.Eriksen hasnt figured out his own corner flag in N17.
They are extremes. It can all be sorted. We can even devise a plan to make it work for us. Maybe we will use NKoudoos speed to help (duh!). It takes using your noodle and being brave.
Really it isnt a mountain to climb. During the blitz London spent its time in the underground stations and singng and sharing. They managed. We will manage. We have a top manager.

Yep, survived, not prospering . We will survive at Wembley, that isn’t winning silverware. Its as much home to the team as a hotel room is to me, I.e. not at all.

          • ronwol196061馃嚚馃嚘 May 19, 2017 at 1:21 pm

When teams win everything looks better. In the 60’s I felt at home there.Winning does that.
Think of shirts. When teams win whatever colors they wear they look vibrant while the losers look dull. Its spiritual.
See Wembley as bright and it will be.

Do you really think Eriksen cant take a corner????

            Of course he can.

            Its in his head.

          • Harry Hotspur May 19, 2017 at 1:26 pm

Ron’s analogy is in fact quite chilling.

The Blitz was endured by those that had no choice but to remain in London and hope because they had no money and therefore no choice.

The UKIPpers were quick to ‘shame as cowards’ the genuine refugees that exist because they lacked the Blitz Spirit.

The well-heeled got the fuck out of Dodge as Herr Hitler was doing his w眉rst. They did not stay and fight. Anyone with a semblance of understanding of socioeconomic history will know that only horrible East End urchins and wrong ‘uns made playgrounds out of bomb craters.

Spurs are not poverty stricken urchins. Fuck that. We’ve got money pouring in from all directions.

We should be staying somewhere swanky, but instead we are being led into a gigantic fucking Anderson Shelter by the Bald Avenger.

And I don鈥檛 think we should go changing the pitch size at Wembley either, fans are already further away from the pitch. We may as well spend the season getting used to the dimensions in prep for the new stadium. You can play well and sometimes not get the results expected, but by & large you play well, you do get the result. We played well in most matches at Wembley, and the team will have/has grown from 3,4,5 seasons ago. So last 8 or 9 maches at Wembley we must be going back what, 5 or 6 seasons? • UnkleTaff May 19, 2017 at 12:42 pm

Those people are mistaken. I was one of them until recently.

In 2012 [the PL] attempted to standardise the pitch dimensions for teams in their division by adding rule K21 to their manifesto. It declared that 鈥淯nless otherwise permitted by the board, in league matches the length of the pitch shall be 105 metres and its breadth 68 metres鈥.

Rule K22 states that clubs would be exempt from rule K21 鈥渋f it is impossible to comply with rule K21 due to the nature of the construction of the ground鈥. Which was the case for us with the old WHL pitch.

      • caveman May 19, 2017 at 12:44 pm

As you said Taff, last night we pissed all over Leicester on a big pitch, the same size as Wembley, it’s no problem. We just need to get used to the crowd being a bit further back for home games.

Can the pitch dimensions at Wembley be changed given it is actually serving as a home ground next season?

    No.

PL regulations stipulate that, wherever possible, the pitch must measure 105m by 68m.

We’ve been allowed to get away with having a smaller pitch because the PL regulations only recently came in and the old WHL pitch could not be extended to meet the new requirements.

  • McG 鈿解毥 May 19, 2017 at 12:16 pm

I don’t see how you can say the noise at the new stadium will disappear just like Wembley? There’s a reason we brought in U2’s sound crew, we’re also closer to the pitch than nearly any other stadium, we’ll also have the biggest kop stand Europe. Add to that the fact it’s been built with no holes other than the roof, I can’t see it being anything other than an absolute cauldron.

    • SpurAndy 馃崚蟺 May 19, 2017 at 12:20 pm

Leicester were lucky last night. If we’d played Eriksen instead of Sissoko we’d have hit double figures.

    • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 12:15 pm

How many times have we hit double figures with Eriksen playing?

  • Camus May 19, 2017 at 11:59 am

For Ron – “I鈥檓 not sure where you go for someone who gets 12 goals and 21 assists and completely controls every game without any let up鈥”

The meaning of this sentence is:- Eriksen has 12 goals and 21 assists (which is a very valuable contribution towards us securing 2nd place in the PL and reaching the FA Cup semi-final) – I’m not sure where you go to find someone who can contribute all of that AND completely control every game without any let up…

Does that make sense to you?
    It’s simple.
    Just read it.

    • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 12:01 pm

Where did I say he should control every game without a let up?????????????????????

      • Camus May 19, 2017 at 12:06 pm

Direct quote:- “My problem with Eriksen is you cant count on him in sertain games of for long periods of games. He can do something great,he does that quite a bit but he also slows us down”

That really does sound like you want someone who can control every game relentlessly. Someone who won’t ‘go missing’ as you seem to imply. Someone who won’t ‘slow us down.’

        • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 12:11 pm

Thats what I said and it was right
He goes missing a lot wastes a lot of dead balls, and does a couple of things a game that is great.
He also spends a lot of time passing sideways

  • AccringtonSpurs May 19, 2017 at 11:35 am

Recruiting a top defender to replace Wimmer is probably as important as recruiting well in attack. Who on earth is there who are as good as Toby and Jan?

    • Camus May 19, 2017 at 11:37 am

Wimmer was great before he was somewhat left out in the cold. He came in for Jan last season and we didn’t miss a beat.

      • AccringtonSpurs May 19, 2017 at 11:38 am

I agree. Shame he hasn’t really played this season.

      • AccringtonSpurs May 19, 2017 at 11:39 am

I watched Wimmer at the Lane in the flesh a year ago when we played Watford (1-0) and he was one of our best players that day.

  • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 11:29 am

        • Camus May 19, 2017 at 11:35 am

I’ve got it. It’s because the guy with 12 goals and 21 assists for the season wasn’t playing… This is a bit like arguing that Son is a waste of space when the kid has scored 21 goals for us this season. Without either of Eriksen and Son’s contributions, we would not be 2nd and that’s a fact.

          • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 11:39 am

      • ronwol196061 May 19, 2017 at 11:38 am

If we pass accurately out of defence we could do better to speed it up. Sissoko has a problem with our game and isnt right for us. But he isnt a bad player. He is not right for our pace. Its funny while Poch gives him a try,he puts Nkoudoo on for a minute and a half. Its true Sissoko is a tougher player more physical but he also has less control at pace.He would do a lot better at another team. Most of our players got the ball forward quickly. Look it couldnt happen with Huth and Williams the same way but our fluidity was also caused by moving the ball quicker and not sideways

  • Camus May 19, 2017 at 11:04 am

If we were remaining at WHL next season and if we could keep our squad together and add a couple of astute additions of genuine quality, with the Chavs likely to be distracted with the Champions League into the latter rounds of the competition, I would seriously fancy that next season would be our year for the title…
As it is, the Wembley thing puts clouds across that aspiration. We will have to see how it pans out.

There always seems to be something that crops up to scupper our progress just when we’re on the cusp of something, be it the sale of Modric, the sale of Bale or now the Wembley thing, but I suppose fans of other clubs would say similar things about their lot.

This is the best team we have had since the 86-87 team. I just hope we can get our ‘day in the sun’ with a title win, say, before the peak has been reached and the team starts to disband. We said this a year ago but next season seems pretty key (again).

  • StuSpur May 19, 2017 at 10:21 am

Can the pitch dimensions at Wembley be changed given it is actually serving as a home ground next season?
This summer will be an undeniable unveiling of Lev. I refuse to except the stadium build as a reason for lack of real momentum in the transfer market. The rebuild is a single component in the running of our club.

If the quality isn’t added and we fail to perform next season our star players won’t given a dogs nut whether there’s a new stadium on the horizon. We will lose the heart of the team and be set back 5 years.

Levy must except this is a title challenging team first and a club building a new stadium second. Back the coach all the way and let whatever happens next season be

    • Urbane Sturgeon May 19, 2017 at 10:36 am

As I understand it, The Spuds can change the dimensions to suit themselves so long as the pitch size is within regulations, which the WHL size is.

    • Stevo1987 May 19, 2017 at 11:13 am

I read somewhere the King Power Stadium pitch size is almost the same as Wembley. I think we may have scraped a win there last night.

      • Ufluckinplic May 19, 2017 at 10:07 am

If we can reduce the size of the pitch to one that we’re used to would be a great help. But I’m not sure we can, think that is the main reason we suffered with our pressing game at Wembley.

      • Real Fan? 鈿斤笍 May 19, 2017 at 10:07 am

Having been to 4 out of the 5 Wembley games this season, the evidence of my eyes tells me we have become increasingly comfortable with the size of the pitch and the size of the stadium. In terms of support, from being silenced by Monaco and BL after a rowdy start, we completely outsung the Chavs, even when we were losing and they found the one song they have. Our performances have become more expansive and more threatening, but we have been undone by uncharacteristic individual errors.

The one thing that the THST or the Club should do to make Wembley (and the new stadium) a great success would be to provide a print out with each of the fans’ songs for each player and for the team at every game . It may sound cheesy but if it got 30%+ more of the stadium singing in unison, it would make a massive difference. No need fo vuvuzelas or those fucking annoying slappy bits of paper that the cheating mangy foxes’ support had last night.

              Take your time, obviously.

            • Harry Hotspur May 19, 2017 at 10:45 am

The problem with Wembley (for the bazillionth time) is that the stadium is designed to accommodate PAYING FANS not atmosphere.

Forget about the pitch size guys, I beg you.

You make the pitch smaller and the fans are even further away from the players.

I appreciate you’re trying to be upbeat Real Fan?, but the final results of our games at Wembley speak for themselves.

Rather like the ‘we’re making progress’ argument to do with the league, there ain’t no Wiki page or whatever for ‘seemed less shit’ performances.

The records clearly show we lost endlessly. at Wembley.

It is also the case that you’re all summarily ignoring how disastrous Wembley was for Arsenal when they played their CL games there and they did so with a superior team to the one they have now.

Song sheets is glossing over the issue. The Sound goes up and into the clouds. Which incidentally is PRECISELY what is going to happen at the new destination despite all bullshit to the contrary.

The truth is that fans simply cannot maintain an endless roar and barrage of songs for 90 minutes because it isn’t natural.

We’re British by jove, not some Eastern European neo-fascists!

I liked the flags against Utd and have absolutely no fucking idea why the THST won’t spend the TEN GRAND in the bank on supplying stuff like this for fans on a regular basis.

The pitch is only part of the problem.

              • Real Fan? 鈿斤笍 May 19, 2017 at 11:01 am

I accept you presenting our recent results as evidence that it could be a difficult season next year. You’re also right that the acoustics aren’t great, but from where I was sitting (SE corner up in the Gods) at the SF, the noise was great inside the stadium for around 65% of the game..a marked improvement on the 30% or so during the CL games…and better, I might add, than at WHL for many past seasons at many games until we made it a Fortress鈩 this year. The level of performance at Wembley has directly correlated to the level of noise in my experience, and i believe our performances have improved…that is the reason I go into next season with optimism. I think that’s based on rational anlacyst too.

No no no, the evidence points to Wembley being a fuck-job. We both hope that it isn’t.

That’s a more accurate summary. I’m not selling grief here, just looking at it rationally. Opposed to toying with the idea of handing out song sheets.

                    Song sheets.

You suggested handing out song sheets!

You stick your head above the pulpit and look what happens.

People throw scrunched up song sheets at you?

                    • Spurstacus 馃拫 May 19, 2017 at 11:30 am

It’s obvious the two of you aren’t singing from the same song sheet.

No actual solutions from Deano, unsurprisingly.

How about the words of all the songs and chants beamed up on the Jumbotron?

                      HaHa. Awful idea. Unforgivable.

Because we’ve improved so much and we’ll learn from the CL defeats that took us by surprise. Also Real Fan has answered beautifully re the match against the Chavs.

        • Real Fan? 鈿斤笍 May 19, 2017 at 10:37 am

I think we would have beaten the Chavs had we been a little more tactically savvy. Conte knew how to keep the game tight for as long as possible and then he had the obvious sledgehammer of bringing on Hazard and Costa, but we were undone earlier with a little too much youthful exuberance leaving us open at the back. If we had managed to shut them out until later in the game, Hazard and Costa would have been panic subs chasing the game. As it was, they were artillery to finish us off and it worked.

        • Harry Hotspur May 19, 2017 at 10:45 am

So you don’t have a coherent answer, Cavey.

Just hope based on nothing. Fair enough.

          • Caveman May 19, 2017 at 11:01 am

Then again, I’m not moaning like a badger that we’ve improved 100%+ and because we’re not first at everything.

            • Harry Hotspur May 19, 2017 at 11:05 am

It’s about glory allegedly. That’s winning stuff. Perhaps take up your beef with Bill Nicholson if you can’t get any sense out of me?

      • Urbane Sturgeon May 19, 2017 at 10:45 am

Against all the teams below us in the Prem; there’s been no evidence either way for some time.
