The gulf between the two sides in the FA cup semi final yesterday was most notable when comparing the coaches.

Jose Mourinho gives us a glimpse into the psyche he employs with these words, picked up by The Telegraph. He’s talking about his players. Manchester United players. I labour this because it ought to apply to every team.

“They have to educate themselves to face every game with the same mentality. If in the cups you can say ‘big game, I’m here’ then in the championship every game means three points. We lost some points that we shouldn’t have.”

The use of ‘big game’ to describe a game that a sullen faced Pochettino – who has won nothing – treated with a very much take it or leave it attitude.

Flat Earthers assure us (will that be in their daughters’ lives I wonder?) that this was just him talking to the press. He wasn’t going to say that to the players.

Well whatever he said to the players we now know with complete certainty, was no better. No more inspiring.

Pochettino is resolutely clinging onto the philosophy and process mantra.

“We are in the process in the last four years, there was the challenge to try to be competitive in the top four. We have been there and competitive but to win a trophy is not easy.”

Too right Mauricio, if it was that easy everyone would be doing it.

Well, a slight caveat, there. Everyone who was sincerely interested in winning a trophy would be doing it.

Useless mind-cult no-marks with their nose so far up their boss’ anus all you can see are the soles of their feet, are unlikely to win anything.

The killer quite that has caused many a wet hen to cluck this morning is the ‘or another manager’ bit.

“…to create that [success] doesn’t take a few years, Tottenham needs more time – with me or another [manager].”

My only civilised response to this is that we were here before you, and we will be here after you and your paymasters.

I’ve got a photograph of me looking like I care somewhere, I’ll have to dig it out for you.

In fact for those in the fanbase cursed as I am with a decently above average IQ, this is just about all that is keeping us going right now.

The Super Hyper Global Mega retail store will be open before a ball is kicked in the New Destination™.

Daniel, you really are going to have to slow down, it’s becoming nigh on impossible to parody you.

Ever heard of the Dunning–Kruger effect?

      Oh, very good.

  • Skatman John April 23, 2018 at 8:42 am

Got to be honest – I was disgusted by Poch’s pressers last week. He’s really pissed off a lot of fans here.
Will be interested in seeing how he comes back.
Media blackout since Saturday as well – no players tweeting, no club media bullshit either – is something afoot?

  • Mickey April 22, 2018 at 5:18 pm

Just bought a Spurs shirt for my grandson. It’s to go along with the Barcelona shirt his other Grandfather bought him. When asked why I’d bought it, my answer was that he he needs to learn that life can be a series of ups and downs, and not to take anything for granted. The Barcelona shirt is so that he understands what success feels like!!

  • Jol 5:5 April 22, 2018 at 4:29 pm

Who is the longest serving manager in the Prem – apart from the bloke that is not seeing out the final year on his contract?

  • too much fun April 22, 2018 at 4:20 pm

    it was an easy solution
they had a game plan that worked ours did not quite as well
also plan B (our bench v theirs)
If someone is playing bad for manu they take him off and drop him we do not
kane was terrible as was all our attackers except erikson.
Loris should have played as it sent out the wrong message

  • Harry Hotspur April 22, 2018 at 4:16 pm
  • Camus April 22, 2018 at 4:08 pm

It’s a bit cuntish of Poch to be saying “me or another” after that bottle-job defeat yesterday.
He’s a) either trying to immediately deflect and divert the conversation down another route rather than face up to the fact that we were shit in a big game on his watch…
Or b) If it’s an attempt to tell Levy that he needs more support in the transfer market, it’s a bit fucking late, mate… 4 years into the project and we still buy shit players.

So yeah, either way a bit cuntish.

    • Limerick AL. April 22, 2018 at 4:14 pm

True. Its just more Propaganda. Botch, and I think, Kane are seeing their Stock slowly but surely being eroded.

    • Andrew April 22, 2018 at 4:15 pm

I think he has realised that levy has had his pants down . You can only support your boss for so long, especially if you are the one being doubted by everyone. Poch reputation is high at the moment, but another season or two of not winning a trophy and his stock will fall.
Maybe he will leave, and try at an ambitious club, otherwise how will he ever really test himself?

      • Gloster1861 April 22, 2018 at 4:26 pm

Pochettino would do well at Cheatski, if Roman gave him two years to get their very talented young players up to speed.

    • Harry Hotspur April 22, 2018 at 4:17 pm

He’s a cunt. That bloke. He’s a fakin cunt. Him, that one. Cunt, he is.

  • Limerick AL. April 22, 2018 at 4:04 pm

From the last Blog. Gerry Francis always wore a Tracksuit at games. He was under pressure and we got stuffed at Anfield. Gerry gave his post match interview wearing a Suit. Botch always, nearly, wears civies at games, yesterday he wore a Tracksuit. Francis was gone a few days later. Happy days.

  • Gloster1861 April 22, 2018 at 4:03 pm

There’s only so far you can get polishing turds. Or relying on luck – Kane’s emergence was luck, Dele coming to us was very fortunate, Eriksen was an 18 carat gold ring found in a box of costume jewellery.

If you want to reach the next level you need a transfer policy, a transfer budget, a good scouting team (who aren’t sacked on a yearly basis.)

  • Gloster1861 April 22, 2018 at 3:58 pm

I am seeing an advert for the LFC Online Store on this page!!! 😵.

    My eyes are streaming.

    • mystic arnold April 22, 2018 at 5:58 pm

Even worse I keep getting adverts for the French o a p s team

  • Andrew April 22, 2018 at 3:58 pm

We were so gutted yesterday, but driving back from the game nobody was shocked or surprised about who won. We made too many mistakes, our players take too many touches, son, moussa,Davies either run into players or they get closed down or tackled before they release the ball. Is it Poch’s game plan or are they to thick to realise that one/two touch football is the best way of creating chances. poch looks dejected and I think he is realising that levy has to change or the best chance of really challenging is going to fail. We will lose players very soon and who could blame them. We maybe have to realise that we are out of our depth when the going gets tough, we are a loser club. It’s no coincidence the clubs that spend on quality players, win trophies. Under levy we will not see any trophies.
Winning mentality comes from the owners, to blame poch is a little unfair, he is another manager we won’t see how good he can really be cause he doesn’t have the resources that the rich clubs have.
I think that as winning becomes a habit,so does losing and unfortunately we have a losing habit.
I don’t expect to see us lift a trophy in my life time.

BBC question – why did Spurs lose the game?
Matthew Upson – because of the mistakes they made.
Didn’t console me at 4.12am when I woke up totally and absolutely bugged about this streak.

BBC also pointed out that we have not a Prem game this season in which we have taken the league.
However, in the League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League we went out because we can’t hold on to a lead. Since when did winning one nil become a bad thing for this coach and this team?

We will be selling: Rose, Tobes, Moose.

We should be selling: Sissoko, Llorente, Jansenn, N’koudo, Onomah, CCV, Aurier.

Happy to sell/trade: Hugo, Son, Wanyama, Tripps, Davies, Winks, Vorm.

Absolutely must keep: HK, Tintin, Dele, Verts, Sanchez, Dier.
Son & Coco just about make this group due to attitude but both need to improve; Son his touch and finishing and Coco general forward product.

Deserving of more time: Moura, KWP, Gazzaniga.

The will/should be selling would conservatively bring in £200-225mil and the happy to sell/trade another £150-170 mil. That would be £350-395 mil to (re)build on the absolutely must keeps and deserving of more time with quality players of the right attitude and quality without Levy having to spend any new money.

Wanyama and Trippier are decent imho and should be retained. Onamah had a bad patch at Villa when Grealish came back into the side. The Villa fans decided Onamah was to blame for some poor results and performances. The truth is he was played out of position. The lad got two assists for Villa yesterday and has been doing well of late. Kane had two bad spells on loan at Leicester and Norwich. Wanyama should replace Dembele in the starting 11 for Spurs imho. If Eriksen is sold, as I suspect he will, then Wanyama and Dier will be vital to Spurs being solid through the middle. Onamah and Winks as squad players. CCV is also learning the game and deserves more time.

What is it that people see in Lamela? I want to understand.

Man Utd probably have more skilled players, than Spurs. We could say that Poch builds a good team (top 4) out of more average players than many Managers can …. that he has them punching above their weight. Trouble is… when the really ‘big’ games come along… players of teams like Man U and Chelsea finally make some effort commensurate to their salary and value.

Apologies with the deleted comments, ladies. The Chinese are getting busy…

Still think we will get top 4 but yesterday was another missed opportunity.

Damn those missed opportunities, if I had a pound for every missed opportunity I’d be, actually that’s another story altogether…

Jose knows how to win individual games of stature,Is it conducive to good football,No.Is it the Tottenham way? No.is it what you really want? Ask any Utd fan what they think of mourinho.Hes not well liked but he is successful

Was wondering, if the coaches swapped teams yesterday would the same team have won ?
Jose is an annoying twat but he knows how to get his team over the winning line.

Unlike HonkyTonks, Jose is fully functioning psychopath.

        This isn’t a beauty contest, it’s a winning contest.
I don’t believe Poch could win anything with anyone.
