Manchester United were put on red alert when Real Madrid revealed they are ready to unload GARETH BALE to make way for Monaco’s KYLIAN MBAPPE.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that boss Zinedine Zidane is increasingly confident of landing the 18-year-old striker.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Mbappe told Barca he wants a move to arch rivals Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old want to be mentored by Zinedine Zidane the back to back Champions League winner.

Los Blancos will need to guarantee the Monaco man a first XI berth, last season, the 18 year old was on firs scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.

Why are Manchester United on red alert?!

IF Bale is being eased out of Real Madrid then it is perfectly logical that Spurs and nobody else go and get the boy.

Has Bale now 28, peaked at Real? His league appearances have tailed off over the last 3 seasons from 30, to 21, to 17. Last season he scored just 7 Primera Division goals.

Now is not the moment for fanning about, mumbling about ‘looking for the right players’.

Now is not the moment for even failing to land no-mark Eurotrash because you’re incapable of finding £10million all in one go.

Now is the moment to step up and show ambition. More importantly, to show some self respect.

Has Levy got it in him?

I don’t always agree with what’s posted on here but this is bang on the money. When Bale was sold to Madrid, one of the positives Levy played back to us was a first refusal, should he be sold in the future. My guess is this was going to be when he was in his 30’s or too far in the future for us to remember. The fact it is relatively recently that he moved puts our man on the spot. It won’t happen of course but he should return to Tottenham. The team is sufficiently developed for us not to lapse into the one man team we were when he was here before.

Levy is a businessman – he has cleared the decks this season and made £70-£80 million – there is no reason why we can’t buy Bale – there will be no empty red seats at Wembley!! It’s a no brainer!! I really think that there is something in the pipeline – we need a marquee signing, a winner to bring us on – Bale is the answer all day long!!

You could understand Bale being comfortably our top earner if he came. So say £150k a week (£7.8m pa).

That compares to the £18m he gets every year at RM until 2022.

He’d not want to be too much ‘poorer’ on a new deal and certainly no shorter term than his RM contract.

So a 4 year contract, wages of £7.8m pa would leave him £31m out of pocket. Seems like a bit of a big ‘signing on fee’ to add to the £70-£80m RM would demand as a fee.

    • AccringtonSpurs August 4, 2017 at 12:18 pm

This is where Levy has truly lucked out with Kane. The guy would play for us for free. His reasonable wage demands/agreement means the others can’t kick up a fuss.

      • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 12:22 pm

Levy said this off the record to reporters from The Times.

    • Sexy Beast August 4, 2017 at 1:55 pm

RM would take Manure for £100m at least, spurs fans need to forget about Bale, he left us 4 years ago and won the champions league 3 times, he ain’t coming back. End of 👎

  • TopOfThePochs August 4, 2017 at 12:13 pm

Onomah to Villa is confirmed – season Long Loan.
apparently he’s in a ‘bubbly mood’ , more than be said for the Spurs fans.

So weekend the squad again, considering he was a regular n the Bench. Good move for him, hopefully he’ll be toughened up by next year.

Hopefully it also means we have some incomings.

  • Legoverlass August 4, 2017 at 12:09 pm

in your dreams guys. It would be the stuff of story books but just cannot see Levy having the ambition to pull a deal of this magnitude off.. Unless a sh*tstorm arrives at his desk and he he is facing a manager/player and fan revolt and is looking at empty seats at Wembley and an empty new stadium next season.Levy panicked last summer when he thought he was going to get hammered by the fans and went out and bought Sissoko against all the criteria he and Pooch had continually bleated about. We need Juve to team us a good one on Saturday and for the pressure to really build.

  • Horndog August 4, 2017 at 12:08 pm

Back to a previous issue from yesterday. Apparently Poch worked with this Gazzumper goalie fella at Southampton. Plus he’s Argentinian. So he’s got that going for him.

  • Elevenstonedidiots August 4, 2017 at 11:57 am

If Levy made this happen and we signed nobody else this window I’d forgive his baldness for for every short-coming over the last 16 years. It’s a pipe-dream though and I’d be slightly concerned that he’s become a bit injury prone of late. The thoughts of a front 5 of Kane, Bale, Eriksen, Dele and Son is giving me a semi though!

    • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 12:03 pm

      I dont want a semi, i want a trophy

      • David Dillenberg August 4, 2017 at 12:16 pm

  • millspur August 4, 2017 at 11:56 am

If we can get it done it would be amazing but I cant see it happening. The only thing I can think of is lower wages but a massive signing on bonus, keeps his wages almost in line with our other earners but give the him a lump sum to come over. Madrid might be ok with doing a deal for a bit cheaper what with the sell on clause that is inevitably in there.

If they sell him for 70m with a 20% sell on clause they only actually get 56m, better to sell him to us for 60m. Then give the 10m that we would have spent straight to Bale…

  • Horndog August 4, 2017 at 11:56 am

It will never happen. I don’t believe Levy would ever address the wage issue. If he is working on anything I certainly hope it is with the idea that he can still help us strengthen with the acquisition of 2-3 players for the price of one. Whatever he does it won’t be in time for proper integration prior to the start of the season. 🙁

    • Syd August 4, 2017 at 11:58 am

      Totally agree

  • Karnage August 4, 2017 at 11:54 am

Would love him back but Baldy won’t pay up.

More chance of getting Moura or Pastore from PSG.

  • Syd August 4, 2017 at 11:53 am

Is the FFP a myth, Neymar, Mbappe, numbers are getting ridiculous and Levy is asolutely correct about sustainability. Bale is on somewhere around 300k per week and is now injury prone and looks 20 kgs heavier. He was a better player with us then he was at RM.
His time has come and gone. He probably has about 1 maybe 2 seasons at best of good football left in him. RM are not silly they will get Mbappe and sell Bale to offset the initial cost.
I’d rather spend the money on 2 or 3 other players who will build up a our squad, Kovacic, Aurier, Rabiot and a striker….we could get all of them for close to the same money one Bale would cost.

  • digiyid August 4, 2017 at 11:50 am

According to RM contract Levy has the first refusal if Bale was for sale..This is his perfect opportunity to show his intention..Bale will turn us into Title winners..Does Levy want to win the Title?

  • Matty k August 4, 2017 at 11:49 am

Isn’t there but back clause that we inserted when Bale was sold that got leaked in the press, giving THFC the right to trump any bid when Real received one? Surely, SURELY we couldn’t let Bale slip through our fingers if so/ he is a game changer, a brilliant player who carried us when we were a lesser side than we are today. I would loveh back at Spurs

    • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 11:51 am

The clause is if a bid was accepted Madrid would give us first option to match it and talk to the player.

I think they still owe us money for the boy so that could be used in theory to fund it.

But he doesn’t want to go to Tottenham so it doesn’t matter

      • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:56 am

Can you explain why he agreed to a first refusal clause in favour of THFC in his sale to Real Madrid then?

        Take your time!

        • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 11:59 am

Literally to please the Spurs fans….funny how it was leaked??

Harry, I’m not saying I wouldn’t love it. But I constantly ask my relatives about bale coming back (both work at Spurs, one retired couple of seasons ago, was head of security, given lifetime ticket and still speaks to current and former players).

Bale is fond of the club, no question, looks at how we are doing every week, would have loved to play us in CL last year but, if he returns to the PL he wants to win it. Perhaps he doesn’t feel he can do that at Spurs.

          • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 12:20 pm

            A quicker answer would’ve been ‘I’m guessing’

      • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 11:57 am

This. All this talk of blaming Levy if he goes to Manure, does Bale get a say in this? I doubt very much he`d come back.

        • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:59 am

Can you explain why he agreed to a first refusal clause in favour of THFC in his sale to Real Madrid then?

          Take your time!

          • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 12:01 pm

Bale agreed it? That clause was between RM and Tottenham, probably a clause that Levy insisted was part of the deal. Even then, that was 4 years ago? I don`t get where you are coming from.

            • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 12:19 pm

So two football clubs put a clause in a sale contract that the player signed, despite being disagreeable to that clause.

              How quare!

              • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 12:23 pm

This is a strange path you are taking. The player signed a contract with RM, we signed a deal with RM for the sale that includes the clause, and the selling on fee. What difference does it make to Bale if there is a clause? It isn`t in his contract, he is not bound by it in any way?

                • Caspurs♿️ August 4, 2017 at 12:36 pm

The final decision as to where a player goes, is I believe down to the player. Spurs can put in whatever clause they want, but it cannot force Bale to Sign for Spurs if he doesn’t want to.
                  FoF is correct, endov!

          • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 12:01 pm

Plus, why would the clause effect him? All the clause does is give Spurs the opportunity to match a bid and talk to him? Doesn’t mean Spurs will match that bid and doesn’t mean he will choose to come back.

It was all to keep everyone happy

            • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 12:16 pm

              A quicker answer would’ve been ‘I’m guessing’

              • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 12:30 pm

It doesn’t affect Bale. We have the right to match any accepted offer. Bale simply has to reject any terms we put to him and the clause has been exercised and he’s free to go elsewhere

              • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 12:36 pm

As are you with this entire piece.

He will not come back, the clause is irrelevant, he wants to win things and as you consistently point out, we don’t.

There is genuinely no point in arguing over the finer points of the deal with RM, who knows if Bale was happy with the clause being inserted but as I said earlier, it doesn’t effect him at all. If he wants to leave Real it doesn’t mean he has to go to Tottenham.

you posts are normally more factual and less fantasy.

  • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 11:49 am

This is incredibly optimistic to say the least.

He has absolutely no desire to re-join Spurs. It would take a miracle for him to come back.

I would love to eat my words here but I think Levy’s transfer incompetence would be the least of our problems for this “deal”

  • TopOfThePochs August 4, 2017 at 11:45 am

All these links to potential players but what happened to us signing PROVEN players this summer who are PROVEN in the Premier League.

I mean Giovani Simeone, Max Mayer, Serge Aurier, Ross Barkley.

    • AccringtonSpurs August 4, 2017 at 11:49 am

which proven players would you like to see at the club? The top 6 rivals don’t generally sell to each other, well, not to us…

      • TopOfThePochs August 4, 2017 at 11:50 am

I wonder why, the Levy factor perhaps?

Perhaps you missed the joke in that post…

  • TopOfThePochs August 4, 2017 at 11:43 am

    No chance.

If we put all of our money into Bale this summer I’d be happy enough.

But it won’t happen. Levy won’t fork out the money.

  • VincentianMagic August 4, 2017 at 11:42 am

I’d love Bale to come back but if he leaves I reckon it’s Utd all the way unfortunately.

If we have a minimum of £75M from player sales without the ticket sales and Sky monies I would like to see the following:

    Keep everyone bar Sissoko.

Use funds for a RB: Henrichs or Perreira – both very good players and more of a direct replacement style-wise for Walker.
Forget Barkley and get Kovecic for added creativity and quality in the middle of the pitch.
If he still hasn’t signed for PSG, get Foyth and keep Wimmer. This gives us a promising CB/Sweeper whilst not throwing him in at the deep end too fast. With games, Wimmer will improve again.
CF: Josh King be ideal and has PL experience (and goals) and added pace and mobility to play across the front three. I’ve seen Simeone Jnr a couple of times and he is actually decent – can play as lone CF or number 10. Works very hard, is aggressive and can play across the front line if required.

    Perreira, Foyth, Kovecic and King.

Heinrichs, Barkley, Meyer, Seri and Simeone are also very decent players that we should be looking at.

Either way Levy should already have added 2-3 players by this stage so we have to hope that (a) hit ground running with no injuries the first few games and (b) teams are willing to trade with us at such a late stage knowing that they may not be able to sign replacements.

I understand that footie has gone crazy, but at present we are a title chasing team that is stagnating and we risk losing all the momentum we have gained from the last two seasons.

Should the worst happen, we will loose our best players (albeit for pots of cash) and we will be the best financially run mediocre club in the world. And that wins o prizes or plaudits from me.

  • Daniel Primus August 4, 2017 at 11:42 am

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! you see the problem is once you as a player and your agent have to deal with levy once you will never go back again ask modric, also why in the fuck would he ever contemplate this insane idea, we couldn’t even sign fucking berahino!

  • AccringtonSpurs August 4, 2017 at 11:41 am

If Sissoko and Onomah go out on loan it shows that Poch is seeing what we see. Believe Poch has got the outgoings correct over last 3 years – including Siggy (whatever the circumstances) who has since upped his game. Looks like he’s not averse to also giving wastrels a second chance to develop and improve (Janssen & Nkoudou staying?) but suspect this is more about meeting the zero net spend target with any potential replacements.

If only he could get the incomings right.

  • Russ August 4, 2017 at 11:39 am

Bale is world class, if there was the slightest chance of getting him in then we should be trying . Wages would clearly be the sticking point .

I wonder what we were prepared to pay Morata ? we should pay bale and the give the likes of kane , alli , Toby etc pay rises with the bonzo money .

Everybody would be happy wouldn’t they ?

This buy back option with bale is like the “special arrangement” we had with Madrid…….. utterly pointless and off no benefit to anyone this side of Spain

  • IrishSpur August 4, 2017 at 11:31 am

I said this last week on a forum here – if Levy done this deal all would be forgiven – this is what we need!!! We get Bale and we all believe again!!! Come on Levy get it done!!

    • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 11:35 am

Some of us never stopped believing.

  • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 11:30 am

Spurs still have a first refusal on Bale, until 2019. If we match another EPL teams offer, we have first go at signing him

That would require us to agree terms with a £300k a week Bale…which is somewhat improbable.

Added to that Bale is Adidas and Spurs are Nike so its not even like Nike will step in to boost our/their profile by getting this done.

You have to ask yourself, why would Levy include such a clause, he would know Bale would cost a fortune and would be on wages way out of our league. Its a clause that doesnt really give us any value in the sale BUT does give the advantage that it forces any other buying team to offer as much as possible for the player to discourage THFC from exercising the clause. Always had a hunch that Bale might return, as a possible marquee to unveil the new destination, but this is founded on nothing really!

    • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 11:33 am

It was suggested that we had a very good offer for Ibrahimovic on the table, one not too far away from what he got at Manure. If this is true, then I see no reason why we couldn`t put out a similar offer to Bale.
      I still don`t think he`d come though.

      • AccringtonSpurs August 4, 2017 at 11:36 am

Bale’s not out of contract so wouldn’t come on a free. Nor is he in the last year of his contract.

        • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 11:37 am

Of course, but I`m talking about the wage deal. We all know we have at least 70mil in the kitty for transfers.

          • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 11:54 am

But the Ibra deal was to basically pay Zlatan a “transfer fee” and then a contract in line with our top earners. This meant Ibra was happy with ludicrous amounts of money and Tottenham could still say they are keeping within their tight wage structure.

Cannot work the same way with Bale, would need a fee and contract terms.

            Cannot and will not happen

            • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 12:16 pm

What I read on here was an 18mil signing on fee, and an 18mil contract, which is around 350k per week. What I am saying is if we can offer that to Ibra, we can offer it to Bale, and use our transfer kitty for the fee. Whether that was the deal, or if there was ever any deal at all, we don`t know. Either way, as I said above, I don`t think he`d come to us.

The deal offered to Ibra was pretty much as you say.

              • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 12:26 pm

Think you have to double those figures. Reportedly on 18m a year at RM for another 4 years. £350k a week for 4 years = £72.8m. SO his annual wages would have to be £175k a week and his signing fee £36.4m

                • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 12:31 pm

That`s exactly the same as a 18mil signing on fee and an 18mil per year contract?

                  • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 12:36 pm

But £18m a year is £350 a week, so no need for a signing on fee (unless a 3 year deal compared to his current 4) and how does this keep it in our pay structure?

Thought the purpose was a big signing on fee to then keep his wages down so not to upset the other stars

                    • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 12:43 pm

It doesn`t Dev, nor does the deal that is thought was offered to Ibra. That`s what I`m saying, IF we can offer that sort of deal to Ibra, we can to Bale.

    • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:37 am

If Bale goes to MUFC, then it’s because Levy preferred the financial kickback than aiding the football team. I think you’re onto something here and the clause is leverage to enhance the third-party fee.

      • Syd August 4, 2017 at 11:58 am

Or … Bale doesn’t want to come back. First option only means we get the opportunity to bid as well but the player has the last say.

  • Paulspurs August 4, 2017 at 11:28 am

If real sign mbappe they will let benzema go bale is the next In line to Ronaldo and his wages are over 300 thousand a week so it won’t happen

  • LingLongMan 🚯 August 4, 2017 at 11:28 am

    No.

  • N14 Spur August 4, 2017 at 11:28 am

At 28 he still has years left in him, however you’re overlooking his injury record as to why his appearances have tailed off.

Plus would he take a pay cut to join us? Doubtful. If Kane, Lloris etc. are on 100k a week, we could maybe stretch to 150k a week (and probably bump a few others up so as to keep others happy) but that’s still a 100k a week pay cut.

That’s all after paying the transfer fee which would be high anyway, before taking into account an inflated market thanks to the Neymar transfer and impending Mbappe transfer.

I’d love him back but doubt it will happen. And would in no way hold it against Levy if we didn’t get him.

    • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:38 am

If Bale left Real and didn’t come to us, would you still give Levy a pass?

  • Stumbling along August 4, 2017 at 11:27 am

Also levy loves a special signing could this be a Vdv type signing

  • caveman August 4, 2017 at 11:26 am

If we cannot secure the buying of Wilfi Zaha from Crystal Palace it’s bonkers to suggest we can sign Bale. It’s Man U all the way if he comes back to the Prem. Otherwise he could head to Italy or Germany, but never ever is Levy going to spend the type of money required to sign him.

  • Stumbling along August 4, 2017 at 11:25 am

I’m Sure we got 1st option on him? Why not I think he loves the club and if we can get him for 70 million I would jump at it

    • caveman August 4, 2017 at 11:27 am

      £70m and £300k a week wages, BONKERS.

  • Sid Trotter August 4, 2017 at 11:20 am

Anyway, Bale wouldn’t want to come back. He may for a visit. He does like cheese after all. But to play? Hmm.

    • Oz on you spurs August 4, 2017 at 11:26 am

It’s the Levy contract I think HH is getting at. Spurs have first refusal if Gareth is being sold to a Premier League club and can match their fee.

  • Sid Trotter August 4, 2017 at 11:20 am

    Nah. He hasn’t
