He Blubs When Wants…

He Blubs When Wants…

My father was a font of advice. What was the most useful information he ever gave me? It’s a tough call. It’s a toss up between how to (whilst unarmed) disable a sentry in just three swift moves, or how to open a truly stuck jar lid.

The jar thing is actually brilliant. You just hit the edge of the lid with the blunt side of carving knife or similar, it breaks the airlock that’s caused the problem, one twist and Robert’s your mother’s brother.

Just be grateful I don’t share more of this stuff with you.

More useful than any one the above was that real men are never humbled. Never humbled by shedding a tear.

When Janssen’s goal went in I welled up and as I stood up and punched the air, I may have experienced a faulty tear duct.

Today was undoubtedly a great day, Spurs are coasting.

Seeing Vinny take it and bury it the second time was something else. Has he come good? Who knows or cares, he did then. Fair play, you jug eared beauty. You absolute darling. Well done.

How funny would if be if Utd won the Ropey League only to see Leicester win the CL?

I don’t particularly want to see Leicester win the CL but if it meant Man U missing out on next year’s CL competition as a consequence I think I could live with it. The ensuing Mourinho meltdown would be well worth it.

    • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 1:27 pm

Wouldnt they go in if the won the Europa or is there a limit to Premier league clubs getting in that case

      • UnkleTaff April 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm

There’s a maximum of five teams from the same country allowed in the CL. If Leicester win the CL (unlikely but not impossible) Man U would have to finish in the top four to qualify for next year’s competition.

  • SpurAndy 🍒π April 16, 2017 at 1:13 pm

I think there’s a massive fear factor when teams come to play at WHL this season. Don’t think it’s any coincidence that teams don’t perform like they do elsewhere. Psychologically, they’re already on the back foot thinking they won’t get anything. We’re now a top side and we’ve inherited that air of invincibility that Old Trafford used to have.

    • UnkleTaff April 16, 2017 at 1:26 pm

I agree. Bournemouth really had a go when they went to Anfield a couple of weeks ago; against us they just looked beaten from the kick off.

  • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 1:06 pm

We want to get Costa out of the Semifinal. So please United do something

    • UnkleTaff April 16, 2017 at 1:21 pm

As you’re so fond of saying Ron, it’s not about them it’s about us. If we turn up on the day they can have a team full of Costas it won’t make the blindest bit of difference.

Besides, there’s something inherently satisfying about seeing Diego Costa on a losing side.

      • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 1:26 pm

I agree but if there is anyone that could hurt us its him. We can handle his playing.Thats not a problem. Its his manipulating is the problem

        • UnkleTaff April 16, 2017 at 1:29 pm

I think our centre halves have enough about them to make him look pretty f*cking stupid if he tries anything untoward. Besides, he’s not been in the best of form of late. He doesn’t worry me. It’s Hazard I’m more concerned about. If we can stop him from playing I reckon we’ll win pretty comfortably.

          • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 1:33 pm

For me Hazard wont do well against us. He will be hassled too much

            • UnkleTaff April 16, 2017 at 1:34 pm

He’ll need to be. He single-handedly pulled them back from two-nil down to two-two at the Bridge last year.

          • Gus April 16, 2017 at 1:33 pm

I know what you’re saying but is still like Costa to be out

      • McG ⚽⚽ April 16, 2017 at 1:45 pm

I think it would make a difference if they had a team full of Costa’s, he’s rubbish in goal and isn’t very good at defending. Then you have to consider the fact he’d never pass to himself, and 11 players infighting would lead to multiple red cards… Sorry, but I think you’re wrong there Taf.

  • The Great White Hope April 16, 2017 at 12:59 pm

    • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 12:57 pm

I hope West Brom beats and United beat Chelsea. I think we can win the league if Chelsea lose and not win it if they get a point. There are not enough points left.
Sure United will be stronger but we cant have everything

    • McG ⚽⚽ April 16, 2017 at 12:58 pm

        • McG ⚽⚽ April 16, 2017 at 12:48 pm

  • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 12:40 pm

    About yesterday.
We were absolutely brilliant. In every aspect of the game we were top notch.
The main point and difference between this game and the Swansea game was we not only took the game to them we created right through the game, Against Swansea we were fantastic till we got till the final third for 80 minutes of it. In this one the flow went right up to their goal.
You see less of Eriksens passing sideways moost of the time,Dembele was pushing forward beyond his area,Son was grabbing hold of the ball better,Davies played more conservative while Walker pushed forward (not too good at times I admit) and Jan was hitting some wonderful balls and Alder too,The pressing itself was exceptional all around. Janssen came on and flowed with what we were doing. A fantatsic performance

    • The Great White Hope April 16, 2017 at 12:45 pm

Bournemouth were pedestrian, didn’t see a single Cherry Breakwell all game and you know they do make exceedingly good Breaks !

      • Horndog April 16, 2017 at 12:46 pm

Perhaps we had a hand in making them pedestrian.

      • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 12:50 pm

Eriksen is playing more direct,Dembele is pushing more forward
We are playing to the wing but never slow. Our passes were much quicker and we were breaking them down inside and out

        • AccringtonSpurs April 16, 2017 at 12:52 pm

our movement is much improved too.

    • AccringtonSpurs April 16, 2017 at 12:47 pm

Poch has tweaked the philosophy this year, we’re no longer trying to play narrow and dribble it through the middle of a packed defence – more width on display this year and it’s working like a charm.

      • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 12:55 pm

Yes overall we are playing better but also quicker.
The pushing forward this week was better than the Swans game. The passing was incise for the most part and quick and runners were hitting the box much move there was more movement all round. I meantioned a few things about Eriksen and Dembele and the wings etc but also Kane was moving well and Dele.Everyone.

        • AccringtonSpurs April 16, 2017 at 12:56 pm

Kane has some real nice playmaking touches

          • ronwol196061 April 16, 2017 at 1:04 pm

When Eriksen used to fart around,Kane would make some great passes.Even Janssen at times can do that.
Eriksen has gotten a thousand times better lately.more focused in the game.Harry is Great anyway and benefits by everyone around him picking it up a notch.
We are about as formidable a team as there is. The confidence and belief look to be at an all time high. This looks like it.

Another top tip, when you get bog roll where the outer sheet is out of sync with the inner sheet, simply take the outer sheet and go backwards by one turn of the bog roll and ta da the outer and inner sheets are now as one.

Still you could simply reroll one of the sheets and it would be your choice the inner or the outer onto another tube, that would give you in many ways more sheets ie increase the amount of sheets one could have. Its the conservative way of sheeting.

I love Berbatov. Cant see Poch taking him because he needs players to slot in who can press and run

  • AccringtonSpurs April 16, 2017 at 10:43 am

Just as West Brom were a constant thorn in our progress until we drubbed ’em 4-0, I would love us to do Leicester on the 18 May in a similar fashion. Drew with them earlier in the season, drew and lost with them last season. We’ve got to smash ’em.

  • AccringtonSpurs April 16, 2017 at 10:09 am

My dream scenario is after losing to Manure and drawing with the toffees we dismantle cheatski at Wembley, delivering a psychological blow from which they can not recover and even with their easy run in we nick the league in our final match at the lane. That and Ar5e scraping through to the final whre after pulling their pants down at the lane we inflict such a huniliation in the final that they will literally implode… it’s all really quite possible!

Either we are or we are not. Its its right us playing Leicester its not about Leicester its only about us.Its not even about Chelsea its about us.
    Its just about us.

We played again against a team that parked the bus and unlike last week when we got a break at 87 minutes and then scored 3…this titook on 3 playersme it was us that created the win all the way.
Eriksen took on 3 players in one go. They told us where we are at. Everyone was on all cylinders all the time. From Sons timing to a rampant Dembele to a rock solid defence to Kane who wanted to only add and to Vinnie not wanting o be left out.

    It was pure Us.

only sour point for me today was that Bournemouth only started with ten professionals. I imagine that they’ll send the misfit back to the anal5 and never play with one hand behind their back again.

Lets be frank. Pocho is a quick learner. He has stopped his mad training routines, is concentrating more on tactics and formations and the cerebral stuff. He has also got Dier going as the leader in the middle and i read somewhere that Dier is the fulcrum of the mid game tactics and formation changes. In addition i think he is an avid reader of this blog and takes the good intentioned advice we regularly dish out.

Probably still ‘tactically inept’ to some flat earthers…

The ‘flat earthers’ supported Poch. When all you ‘pant sniffers’ were wailing about how we positive chaps were happy clappy tinfoil merchants we had to roll with the punches. We knew great things were about to happen.
Flat Earthers are better fans; better lovers; better human beings.

    • East Stand April 15, 2017 at 8:30 pm

Perhaps my definition of what a ‘flat earther’ is has become somewhat confused.

I thought thinking the the earth was flat meant you didn’t have clue about anything therefore slating Poch from the off. Anyway, whoever thought he wasn’t up to the job now have egg on their face…

      • Gloster1861 April 15, 2017 at 8:43 pm

Egg? Could have been worse. I think some of us worried Poch had no plan B, but we are seeing more flexibility now because the players are up to speed, Sissoko excepted. Poch isnt a prima Donna like Klopp thank god, but the genuine man and looks like he is loved and respected by his players.

        • East Stand April 15, 2017 at 8:54 pm

I’m not sure that many managers have a ‘plan B’ anyway, certainly not mid game. The changes in formation he has tried etc have calmed fears that he wasn’t’t flexible or open to changing things if need be.

One thing I noticed fairly early this season along with the back three and wing-backs was the pressing being more focussed where it matters rather than everyone going for it in every game for 90+ mins.

It seems to me that the players have also learned how to pace themselves, in the 3511 (or whatever it is) the players seem to be more fluid and closer together on the pitch meaning the pressing is shared around the group within the vicinity of the ball rather than players being more isolated and running themselves into the ground. It’s all got slicker and that bit more mature, from what I can tell.

        • East Stand April 15, 2017 at 9:02 pm

I also agree on Klopp, he seems to be still riding on the wave of what he did at Dortmund for me. He has to improve Liverpool’s defending and their level against the smaller clubs, at the moment its as if they aren’t all that bothered.

I thought they put everything into their matches against us for example, that suggests he hasn’t got into them enough to change the mentality. Perhaps Klopp isn’t as bothered or that he thinks it’s like Germany where the top sides beat the smaller ones nine times out of then? I feel Klopp is good but how good I’m still not sure…

So who can we realisticly sign to help improve the squad for next year?
We need to be realistic that old Daniel is going to splash the cash on players, but we could do with one or two additions to help us push on and finally start winning silverware.
There has been talk of Ross Barkley, as much as I’d like to see what Poch could do with him I think hes a luxury we could do without. Maybe we might go back in for Dembelle at Celtic? But again it’s the Scottish league we could all score there.
I think we need a VDV style signing to really put is on the map, but that means old Daniel will have to open the purse.

Far too positive on here tonight. It’s all very unusual.

Read some bullocks about Everton wanting £35m for Barkley but we’re probably going to offer £15m and work up to a more agreeable figure seeing as he’s in the last year of his contract and all. If Everton don’t accept we may be waiting a year to secure his services on a free.

The feed here in the States, Via NBCSN, had Poch live from the field after the match, for a good five minutes. He was obviously happy, excited, fairly articulate and proud of his squad. He is a personality. He wants to win and really feels he has a squad that get things done. Damn the FA Cup would taste good.

It’s always a little quieter on here when we win, so here’s a bit of conspiracy theory for you. Ranieri lost the dressing room at Leicester when he refused to allow his players access to ‘performance enhancing’ drugs. The new boss does not have adequate clout at the club and is a ‘yes’ man for the owners.
Just a hypothesis that may explain Leicester’s sh*t sandwich of recent performances.

Wife’s commandeered the computer for the night. Trying to do this on my phone😒 Saw the game tonight. A decent performance with some underwhelming aspects – Walker’s offensive play, Ericksen’s free kicks & corners. I was happy that Janssen managed to score in the limited time he had on the pitch. A bit tough on Eddie Howe, whom I like as a manager.
