He Ain’t Arf Right, Mum

By The Boy -

Poch said: “The first 45 minutes was fantastic, it was wonderful football. We can feel very happy with the performance, the players played very well against a very difficult team.

“I think after Chelsea it was a big challenge to keep the momentum and show that we are mature enough to fight for big things and today was a very good example of that. We need to move on and try to fight but now we have more belief. We are much better than last season.

“We are showing that we have learnt a lot from last season, we are more mature. Today we did not concede a goal.”

A manager’s lot is precarious one.

If you win, you need to retain some notion of modesty or you can come across as someone no more talented than a lottery winner.

If you lose, best to look like you’re off to batter the living daylights out of those who weren’t savvy enough to leg it home to shower.

Poch has mentioned ‘maturity’ after winning before and it’s been optimistic to the point of unscrupulous.

This was a performance that showed enormous maturity and dare I put a curse upon us, mental fortitude. Jesus wept, it’s easy enough to be sceptical about Spurs. The gorgeous Julie Welch sums it perfectly.

That’s what they did yesterday lunchtime. They parked a nice Carrera on your drive, put a note through your door and key; ‘Good luck’.

I want to see some consistency, which isn’t unreasonable.

Bring it on.
